This is the single worst medical facility I have ever set foot in. DO NOT go to this hospital if…read moreyou have an emergency unless you are actively bleeding out from a gunshot wound; expect a 2+ hour wait, and they will not do anything to ease your pain nor listen to patient feedback. My partner was crying and shaking from intense stomach pains, and when we got there the triage nurse acted like my partner was exaggerating the pain without even knowing what the problem was. We sat in the waiting room and my partner would periodically go to the bathroom to vomit. After several times of doing this and about 45 minutes of waiting she began to vomit blood. She informed the nurse who shrugged her off and said they were waiting on a room. After another hour of waiting we still had not been seen and my partner was delirious from pain, lack of sleep, and dehydration. The nurses showed absolutely no concern nor sense of urgency. Stay far away from this place unless you are actively dying.

This hospital is sentimental to me, and I'm sure there are a lot more people who feel the same way…read more My grandma started her nursing career at UMMC and retired from here many years later, in her late sixties. It was a different time back then, but she forged ahead and became a great nurse due to the people she worked with who became family. But UMMC has always been number one when it came to caring for its patients, having the newest technology, the best bedside manner, and that great hospitality of asking, "How are you doing, and are you comfortable." These are questions they ask the family. So, you can imagine how wonderfully they treat their patients. When you step inside or outside Mississippi, people know about UMMC because this hospital has built a reputation for doing everything in its power to heal you and make sure you have the best doctors. As a child, when I was here for the summer visiting my grandma, she would take me to work with her for a few hours until my Uncles came to get me. I have walked these halls starting out as a child and into adulthood. So, today, I walked down memory lane again, admiring the familiarity of the rooms, hallways, and the digital clock I once stared at as I was getting a cast for my right arm or the stitches I was getting above my left eye. I kept Grandma and a host of her co-workers on their toes. But let me tell you what was really special today. Generations upon generations have followed in their parent's footsteps right here at UMMC. I was talking to my mom's doctor, and he picked up on my mom's maiden name. He smiled and said, "Your Grandma used to work here."

On the night of 3/5/2026 and morning of 3/6/2026 I went into the emergency room with shortens of breathe due to being diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure in 1/1/2026 and forgot my meds in Ga. The level of care was terrible ,not great, i was discharged so quickly and told by security to leave as i waited for my ride , it was 1:30 am and I could not understand how a hospital has could treat patients in this way. NEVER GO TO THIS HOSPITAL!!! WIlle Lynch Syndrome is ALIVE and WELL here!!!!

It has taken me almost 3 years to write this review. If I could give no star, I would. My feeling…read moreabout Baptist is that this hospital help facilitate in expediting the death of my mother (in conjunction with UMMC). My mother was diagnosed with cancer in 2020 and though with that diagnosis, that is not what she actually died from. To this day, I'm not sure, nor the doctors, the cause of death. Her death certificate is a speculation. She showed signs of a UTI as she would develop them periodically. I called her doctor (Dr. Sanders, whom I really liked) to test her for a UTI. After being tested, I was told that she indeed had an UTI but later was told that she did not. I asked several times if they were sure because she was displaying symptoms. A week after that, she had a throwing up spell. My mother had awaken in the middle of the night the next night and she was despondent. Called an ambulance, admitted her in emergency at Baptist. They badly bruised her arm up trying to draw blood. They finally got someone in who was supposed to be able to do so but whatever he did, caused further pain and her arm to swell up. It was discovered she had an infection due to a blockage. She was taken to have a procedure to relieve the blockage. The nurse that took her up and the doctor that performed the procedure were very kind and comforting. The nurse that took my mother for the procedure brought my mother back much sooner than stated but his demeanor was totally different. He was not the friendly comforting nurse we encountered initially and after he dropped her off, he left without a word. A team of nurses came in to transfer my mother to her bed, they asked us to step outside the room (odd) and several nurse came in rushing in and they closed the door in our faces (odd again). I asked why the door was closed like that. I was given some excuses that clearly didn't add up. After the procedure, my mother was not waking up and 3 days later, my mother still hadn't awaken. Baptist was supposed to do an MRI to see what might be going on but for some reason, they never took her to do so and I asked and everyone was like Dumb and Dumber around there. We had been spending the night with her but went home one night and got a call the next morning that things weren't looking good. We rushed down and was with her as she took her last breath. After the shock, I had huge issues obtaining my mother's medical records and I was given hell and no cooperation. I was given road blocks, excuses, different stories, different dates to come back, and straight lies as to why I was not able to obtain her medical records. And for the alleged policies stated, no one could show me in writing such policies. That experience reeked of covering up something! It was like they were delaying so the hospital had time to cover their tracks. This in conjunction with the MyChart being disabled within minutes of her death really was unsettling. Fast forward, I finally got record after keeping up a fuss. It took quite a bit even though I was her caregiver for 2 years and I was with her at every appointment, signed occasionally on her behalf. It was very painful to do but I thumbed through her records at the time to the last procedure and noted she was given Fentanyl as her anesthesia...FENTANYL!. While this may be a customary anesthesia, why on earth would Baptist give a 92 year old who was weak, ill, frail with an infection FENTANYL?!!! So I'm convinced my mother could never wake up due to the Fentanyl in her condition. Side note: prior to all of this, Baptist emergency's negligence caused my mother to fall and injure her head! The photos below shows how vibrant she was at 90 and then her decline after Baptist (and UMMC) got a hold of her. Be an advocate for your love ones, these hospitals have the propensity to lie, cover up and kill their patients...especially the elderly!

I have to call and call and call. I am constantly told that my case is marked as urgent even though it gets "left on my providers desk". So I have had it. This medicine is important for me to take consistently and this is a fact my provider knows. This has occurred more than once where I have to call for A WEEK OR WEEKS before anything gets done. This time I have called and been assured it would be taken care of before my doctor left on Friday ( I was worried I wouldn't get it filled over the weekend since I called everyday since Tuesday) and I called my pharmacy today and nothing. It's disappointing when your health care provider has no motivation to help you and you have to do ALL the work to make sure you have medicine you need. And it's even more disappointing when are brushed off and told all you can do is keep calling. I will be trying to find a new provider because I've had all I can take from this clinic

What can be fixed if the nurses were rude and apathetic? I can be more specific if that's what's needed. I called the number and got voicemail. In hindsight, I was told fussed at for not walking after delivery but I was in so much pain. I was in so much because I was not receiving pain medicine because I didn't know I was supposed to ask for it. I couldn't lift my right leg and needed help and only after I mentioned to one of the baby nurses did she say why that may be and confirmed I had received and injection in that leg. I was severely anemic prior to delivery so I was already weak. Was given a regular diet after a c-section (my first) so that caused more pain and problems yet just about everyone made me feel like I was the problem. No one thought to step back and say let's fix this and see what's going on? Hopefully, some changes have been made.

It might help to tell people beforehand, perhaps during the virtual tours, that expectant parents…read moreshould not bother to install their car seat because they'll have to take it in the facility with them. NO ONE told my wife and I this beforehand. My wife is only here two weeks before the expected due date due to her blood pressure. Our car seat is stuck in place inside the vehicle and isn't coming out even if Batman and Superman collaborated on it. The overall rating of this visit will depend mightily on how much help we get over the next 24-36 hours. Update: the deal with the car seat ended up not being that big a deal. That said, I'm not sure why it was made into a big deal in the first place. The bellhop-types who helped us wheel our rack of possessions to the car -- with our newborn son in his mother's arms -- were nice and cordial. Nurse Cheryl and Roshell in the nursery department were excellent with us, as was the lactation adviser whose name escapes me. They're the reasons my rating is as high as it is. The checkout process was painfully slow like it is for everyone. Sometimes you have to help folk do their jobs faster, that's all. The customer is always king, not red tape!
