A great place to work, with some of the most dedicated physicians and surgeons in the state.

This is a beautiful new(ish) addition by Baptist Hospital which is located right next to the…read morehospital. I've heard hospital personnel and some friends refer to it as "The Rotunda." I'm not real sure if that's an official name or just a nickname, but if you hear it referred to as that, then this is the place they're talking about. On one of my trips to MS, I managed to land in the ER with abdominal pain. I was there for a couple of weeks on that visit and they didn't want to wait for me to get back to FL, so they had me see a GI doctor the next day and I was sent here for a sonogram. I was greeted with a smile upon arrival and checked it. I was taken back almost immediately and the tech was super sweet - that good 'ole southern hospitality. My mother went with me and during her wait while I was having the test done, she waiting in a large, comfortable waiting area with free coffee, a television, and plenty of magazines. If ever in MS and in need of medical testing, I wouldn't hesitate to return here.

On the night of 3/5/2026 and morning of 3/6/2026 I went into the emergency room with shortens of breathe due to being diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure in 1/1/2026 and forgot my meds in Ga. The level of care was terrible ,not great, i was discharged so quickly and told by security to leave as i waited for my ride , it was 1:30 am and I could not understand how a hospital has could treat patients in this way. NEVER GO TO THIS HOSPITAL!!! WIlle Lynch Syndrome is ALIVE and WELL here!!!!

The rooms and furnishings seem dated, but functional and clean. The rooms are quiet and the nursing staff competent and kind. The only bad thing I could even say about the place is that the staff in surgical holding and recovery are obnoxious. They listen to country music and have personal conversations loudly and basically make patients feel like an inconvenient interruption to the little tea party that is their job. As I was coming out of anesthesia from a skin graft of 3rd degree burns I was in pain and was cursing - not loudly, mind you, but also not completely consciously either. I didn't appreciate the way the nurse in recovery scolded me considering the amount of pain I was in. She could have gently helped me through that but was too busy visiting with her friend/coworker and just wanted me to shut up. Surgical holding and recovery was a miserable experience because of the staff there and I deeply regret I didn't tell that judgmental wench in recovery to go fork herself.

The triage nurse was very intuitive and asked very specific questions about the accident. When assigned to a room in the ER, a CNA gave us ice cream sandwiches as we waited. The CT and radiology techs who did the CT and X-rays were so nice and made him extremely comfortable. Then, the NP, Beth stitched him up with care and compassion. It was a very good experience. Love MERIT HEALTH CENTRAL. Thank you ER staff so much. You guys are the best! Can't wait until the hospital is fully like it used to be. I know it'll be of great service to the community as it's always been. Thanks for you all and all you do!

Parking is not so great. There is a garage, but if you can't climb hills or can't walk distances,…read morethis will be a challenge for you. Accessing the clinic is confusing. There is no clear marking or signage, inside the building when you walk in on the main level, which level the walk-in clinic is on. As an FYI, it's located on the lower level. I asked someone who worked in the building, what floor the clinic was located on and they told me the fifth floor. I take the elevator to the fifth floor and sign in and the receptionist is looking perplexed. I was asked did I have an appointment. I told her no and that I was told I didn't need an appointment for the walk-in clinic. She then tells me to go down the hall, to another elevator bank, take the elevator to the lower level and that's how you access the walk in clinic. I get to the receptionist at the actual walk in clinic and she asked me did I have an appointment. I told her that I did not and that I had spoken with someone on the phone who said I didn't need an appointment for this particular location at that particular time. She then tells me because they all of a sudden got crowded, that the next available appointment was two hours after the time that I arrive and that they weren't taking walk-ins. I told her this is not information that was given to me less than 15 minutes prior to me arriving. When I looked around the waiting room, there were two other people in the waiting room. She then asks would I like to fill out my paperwork since I was already there. I told her that I would and I did. I was seen by a nurse practitioner in a decent amount of time and I didn't have to stay for two hours. Why the two stars: Because what I was told on the phone and what I was told when I arrived were two different things and it was less than 15 minutes between the two. The receptionist was not exactly the most customer friendly person in the world. Within 12 hours of me going, I developed congestion after my initial with diagnosis and was refused a prescription for Mucinex D. Due to the backwards laws of Mississippi, you have to have a doctors prescription for medicines that contain pseudoephedrine due to the math addiction problem that everyone is having. Lastly, I give Baptist credit for having a clinic that you don't need an appointment for, but I would be mindful and cautious that if they do get busy, you will need an appointment and would just go ahead and call and make one, just to cover all of your bases.

Friendly and helpful staff! They didn't offer what I was looking for, but they where so kind to…read moreassist me with information to point me in the direction that I needed. Marcella was an absolute gem! I was able to find the service that I needed because of her! Thank you so much.

The rooms were gorgeous with plenty of chairs and seating for family members and they were really as hands off as they could be with my son and his girlfriend and them having their baby. The cafeteria, while expensive, was really great. Hot foods, sandwiches, cold drinks, fruit, breakfast food. They had everything. There is also lots of food places very close if you don't want to eat there. Parking is plentiful, we always found a spot right near the hospital (and this place is big). Our whole family loved this place. I'm thrilled that this is where they had their baby!

I am extremely disappointed with the care I received in the Emergency Department at St. Dominic…read moreHospital. I was sent directly to the emergency room by a clinic after being told I had a corneal abrasion, a suspected corneal ulcer, and a swollen eye. The clinic was concerned enough about my condition to send me to the emergency department for further evaluation. Upon arrival, I had to wait over three hours before I was taken to the back but then placed on a gurney in the hallway and told that I would be treated there because my condition was not considered an emergency. I was especially displeased to be the only patient treated in a high-traffic hallway where people continuously passed by, stared, and went on with their day, which made me feel exposed and uncomfortable during an already painful and stressful situation. All other patients were placed in rooms while I was awaiting treatment in the hall. They had the unmitigated gall to write in a marker a room number and taped it on the wall by my gurney with my wristband informauto. taped on the wall as well. I felt degraded and uncared for at the same time. I arrived around 5:00 p.m. and waited for hours without being examined by a physician or other provider. During that time, my symptoms became progressively worse. I repeatedly informed the nursing staff that I was experiencing severe eye pain, extreme sensitivity to light, increasing swelling, and worsening symptoms. Despite expressing my concerns and fear that my vision could be affected, no one came to reassess me or explain the plan for my care. After six hours, I still had no relief from my symptoms. Eventually, I was told that there was no ophthalmologist on call. While I understand that not every hospital has an eye specialist available at all times, I expected someone to examine my eye, explain the next steps, or discuss whether a consultation or transfer to another facility was necessary. Instead, I remained in the hallway feeling overlooked, frightened, and uncertain about whether my condition was being taken seriously. The most disappointing part of my experience was not simply the wait--it was the lack of communication, compassion, and follow-up. Being left in severe pain with worsening symptoms and no meaningful updates made me feel as though my concerns did not matter. Patients deserve to be treated with dignity, kept informed about their care, and reassessed when their condition changes. when the doctor did show up, she treated me, but gave me no insight for a referral. I hope St. Dominic Hospital reviews its emergency department processes, particularly regarding communication with patients, timely reassessment of worsening conditions, and ensuring that patients understand the plan for their care when specialty services are unavailable. No patient who is worried about losing their vision should feel forgotten while waiting for treatment. I sincerely hope my experience leads to improvements so that future patients receive the attentive, compassionate, and timely care they deserve. Sincerely, Shiquita M. Williams
