I really like St. Clare school. My daughter joined in Transitional Kindergarten in 2017. They also offer an afterschool program until 5:30 pm that was very helpful to two working parents. My daughter made many lifelong friends, and plays on both the volleyball and basketball teams. Her teachers are knowledgeable and engaging. St Clare school provides a silver box program to promote good behavior and to always try their best. The summer program is also awesome. Overall, I recommend this school which not only provides a great student life, education, and many extracurriculars but also supports the growth of healthy religious values in a safe environment. read more

I have been in the Saint Clare School community for 26 years as a parent, a volunteer and employee. As a parent, it was an academically strong, and spiritually nurturing environment of faculty and staff who partnered to raise my child; as a volunteer, our family was embraced by the community and made life-long friends; and as an employee, I've been fortunate to meet alumni from generations going back over 50 years and experienced a working environment of faculty and staff dedicated to the mission and philosophy that is Saint Clare School. It's 167 years strong and counting! GO, WILDCATS! read more

I am an alumni and who would have thought my own children would also be attending this gem of a school in Santa Clara?! St. Clare has been a great experience for our 4 children (now aged 5 - 12). The academic curriculum is challenging and incorporates traditional learning methods along with innovative & technological approaches. St. Clare, as a Catholic Christian community (although welcoming to all!), is also deeply invested in nurturing the whole child: academically, spiritually, socially, emotionally. Teachers and administrators are invested in creating confident, productive members of our community, who respect and celebrate the diversity among us, and who are kind-hearted, generous beings, in a world that sure needs it. Amid the COVID pandemic, St. Clare has rolled out and executed a safe in-person learning environment with absolute adherence to our County Public Health Dept.'s guidelines. Both in-person students and students learning remotely from home are experiencing their robust curriculum together, and finding ways to stay connected socially as well. We are pleased with the wonderful community of families we have become a part of and are confident our children will be well-prepared for whatever High School we choose... and beyond! read more

I have been part of the St. Clare community for over ten years and two children who have/are attending. The community is incredibly inclusive and supportive. Mrs. Mantecon started as the principal 3 years ago and she has brought so much leadership, vision and energy. She has breathed new life into the academic rigor, faith development and new ideas to strengthen the community and growth of our students. The administration, faculty and staff dedicate so much of themselves to make our children feel challenged, loved and seen. They have done an incredible job transitioning to distance learning and been very communicative in planning a safe return to school, offering options that work for the multitude of needs each family faces. read more

St. Clare is a great exceptional school because of its high academic standards and welcoming kind hearted staff and students. Wherein you are greeted with lots of smiling faces and respectful kids. They offer both in person and distance learning. We opted for my child to stay home for this year; St. Clare is able to provide seamlessly a home learning program that is well integrated with in person. The class schedule and workload makes us feel that my child is given the best possible education in these unprecedented times. read more

So proud to be apart of the community and parish. Best staff, parents, community, kids and most importantly BEST teachers around. COVID forced us into distance learning last year and I was surprised and happy to see how seamless it was to move everything online. I now have a greater appreciation for what the teachers and administrators do for our kids every day. read more

We learned of St. Clare School through a couple of different friends while searching for a new school that could challenge our kids academically while nurturing their social-emotional skills. Not only does the school provide this, but also a community of teachers, staff and other families that let our kids know they are loved, cared for and that they belong. Our kids are thriving in both distance and in-person learning! The county's COVID-19 safety protocols that has been implemented truly keep our kids safe and gives us a piece of mind. We highly recommend this school for both distance and in person learning. read more

I felt neglected, judged, and misunderstood by the St. Clare's parish. Yes, I got my education and I went on to a great school and college. However, I will never be able to tell you all the despair and the unjust atmosphere I felt being at this school. The staff almost didn't let my own mother (the woman I came out of) take me out of school for a vital appointment and whenever I came to them with a common bullying problem, they never seemed to understand that it wasn't my fault. Things may have changed, but if you have outspoken/creative kids on your hands, it'd be a no-go, in my opinion. BUT, if you want your children to have a great chance of getting in to top notch schools, it's a good way to go. Mrs. Rader, Ms. Valerie, and Ms. Graham, if you ever read this, thank you for bringing me to my senses. I'm a Satanist now!! read more

Caring, tight-knit community. Some great parents. Terrific bonding if luck puts you in the right class with the right group of children/parents. Academics are okay, not great. Things to watch out for: 1) That one student in every class with developmental or maturity or coping issues, who makes the whole class suffer because the school panders to that one student's needs. 2) That one high-achieving student in every class, where Mom is a student along with Daughter, and Mom helps Daughter with every homework assignment and is always badgering the teacher in every class and practically has a desk next to Daughter. 3) The occasional PTG President who thinks they are the school Principal. read more

This review is for their summer school / camp program. I enrolled my pre-schooler in their kindergarten preparation summer school for eight weeks. We had a very bad experience. I waited almost a year to post this review because I wanted to be sure that I am not a super sensitive parent or trying to be in denial about my own child's shortcomings. I can honestly say after a wonderful kindergarten year at another school that this school's methods., philosophy and treatment of children is poor, pathetic and horrid. The teachers here are de motivated and obviously feel under paid and suited for something better in life. My child had always been a happy sweet person who loved going to preschool. This eight weeks we saw him transform to a stranger. One day I went to pick him up to find out that my (then four year old) was made to sit in the hot summer sun for hour "time out" for being disruptive in class. At pickup the teacher told us, with my four year old holding my hand and listening that she had to "kick him out" of her class since he was not sitting still. The teacher helpers are lazy and in my observance always talk down to children. When we challenged the teacher to explain how "kicking him out" and letting him sit in the outside area for an hour will address his learning or listening ability .. she replied ... "That's all I can do ... he is not my child that I raise my hand to him". The ignorant teacher helper then proceeded to say "that sometimes they just need a good smacking" My husband was appalled that in this day and age we still had such horrible mean people in charge of our children. There were other incidences until finally we didn't send him for the last week of school at all. Still to be fair, I didn't write this review then. We enrolled our child in another school for his schooling, and tried to be open minded about our or our child's part in this. We saw him blossom again, he has since then been diagnosed with ADHD, his wonderful new teachers helped us understand his condition, got us the right evaluation and resources. He has been thriving, looking forward to going to school and learning to figure out his way. In my opinion, St. Clare is one of the worst schools with the worst teachers that I have had experience with. I would not recommend this as a reasonable option for any parent that values their children. read more

We have been at St. Clare school and Parish since we moved to the neighborhood 16 years ago. We have seen Pastors, Priests, Principals, Teachers come and go but the St. Clare spirit is consistent and genuine over time. We gave to this community our time, talent and treasure and have formed some of our best long-term friendships here. The sense of history and community are truly special and now our children are well-adjusted, generous and well-educated, and prepared for their Catholic high schools. We attribute this to the love and teaching they got from their 9 years at St. Clare School. read more

We have been been part of the St. Clare School Community since 2014 and have been so happy with our experience. The curriculum is rigorous and I am confident both of my children are getting a good education. More importantly to me, though, the school fosters a strong sense of community and service toward others. Both my children feel loved and cared for by their teachers. read more

This is our second year at St. Clare and we are loving every moment! Both of my children are enrolled and enjoy being a part of the St. Clare community. In the two years we have been a part of this community, we have seen the teachers, students, and staff live by their values day in and day out. As a parent, I know that my children are not only receiving one of the best educations but also learning how to be good students, stewards, and children of faith. We are not Catholic and while this was a not a requirement, I worried about my children being treated differently from the others. This is no longer a hesitation or worry of mine. My children have never been treated differently based on their Christian faith. The school and community is inclusive and diverse and this makes all the difference. It's great to see children and families from diverse faith backgrounds coming together as a community to live out the mission of God. The Principal Mrs. Mantecon ensures that all children and families feel included, safe, and heard. She also lives out the values of a good steward. Our family was hit by the pandemic financially and St. Clare helped us with financial assistance. The children were able to continue their education without worrying how I was going to make it happen. If you are looking for a school that lives by their mission, values, and morals look no further, St. Clare is the school for you! My children are thriving at St. Clare and I cannot thank the teachers, staff, and community enough. I know I made the right choice for my children in enrolling them at St. Clare School. read more

This school has been such a blessing to our family! My family is so happy with the level of education, support and loving environment my girls are offered at this school. This has become even more relevant during these difficult times. The effort the school and staff have made to open in person at a date much earlier than other schools in our area shows the exemplary commitment they provide to those in their community. Our daughters are thriving and my husband and I know this was the best decision we could have made in choosing a school for them. read more

St. Clare School is a wonderful place for children academically, emotionally and spiritually. The community of parents and teachers are very diverse - culturally, religiously and financially. Not everyone is Catholic, but everyone does care about their children's education and making sure they are raised in a safe place where they learn to care about and value one another. I have a child who has already graduated from St. Clare and another still in the school, and both have been St. Clare students since they were in Kindergarten. I couldn't be more pleased with the level of learning - my oldest was fully prepared for a college preparatory high school - and the way the teachers and faculty pay attention to each child and what they need. The communication between faculty and parents is excellent - you know you will always be heard. The school also offers financial assistance programs so if you want to join the St. Clare Family, they will work with you to make it happen. There are also programs after school to help inspire learning and creativity, including robotics and math. And St. Clare makes sure students understand the ties to the Catholic Faith and how we are called to be good people and servants to one another. I am proud to be part of the St. Clare Family! read more

I have sent 2 kids through St. Clare and I am ever grateful. The Silver Box program teaches respect for others. The religion teaches social justice . The teachers are committed and caring. Worshiping, Learning, Growing, is what St. Clares's is all about read more

St Clare School is a wholesome, vibrant community and offers a well rounded curriculum including many "extras." Our family is especially happy with the enriching diversity which is representative of the Silicon Valley. We have had only a few minor issues, but I think all schools will have things that you don't 100% agree with or suit your child. We are happy here and are grateful for the opportunity for our children to feel safe, nurtured and supported in their school environment. read more

Class of 2002....Many many memories that i will never forget! The teachers are credible and the academics are amazing-surely what helped me in a college prep high school! read more

Great school. Focuses not only on the academics but the overall growth of the student. Kids grow to be true to themselves and comfortable in their own skin. Atmosphere is accepting and tolerant of differences. Faculty and administration committed and dedicated to students. My eldest was well prepared going to HS and she's doing well (in HS). read more

My family is new to the community this year with my child starting in TK, so I felt compelled to write about our wonderful experience thus far. Due to COVID, the school year started virtually. I was impressed with the almost weekly communication sessions that the administration held and continue to hold to provide updates, which started weeks prior to the first day of school. The start of the school year went very smoothly and my daughter transitioned easily to the virtual school environment. After a few weeks of virtual learning--thanks to all the hard work and preparation of the staff, the implanting safe COVID protocols, and training parents on the protocols--we had the opportunity to transition to in person. My child absolutely loves her teacher (also new to the school is Ms. Jiang) and paraeducator (Ms.G). They are both so nurturing, caring, patient, and have energy that matches the young students. However, when I look at the St. Clare macro environment, I have realized that this is true for the whole staff (principal, office staff, teachers, and parish priests) and the families at the school. On top of that, we are equally impressed with the academic rigor. I could go on and on about our positive experiences. We are lucky to be a part of the community! read more

This school has a great sense of community while ensuring that your children are safe, happy and learning. If you want to be sure that your child does not get lost in the shuffle, this is the place for you. The faculty, staff and other parents always know what's up with the kids and always keep an eye out for the kids. read more

I completely agree with the review on how bad St. Clare's Summer Camp program is. It's completely unorganized and the teachers seem to care less about the well being of the students. I brought my child in for their first day and no one was willing to help us. I had to practically beg for some guidance. My child was completely alone and had no idea what was going on because no body took the initiative to help. Everyday so far has been a disaster. They have the big kids playing dodge ball with the kindergarteners, meaning the big kids are throwing the balls at the little kids. Real fair. The teachers, or the teachers aides, only complain if the child does something wrong, yet if he/she is sitting there crying they don't do a thing. I sat there in my car and watched my child crying alone and still no one was concerned. I don't expect my child to be babied, but I do expect that my child get the attention deserved considering we're paying for this program. The director of the program is extremely moody and rude and when I signed up for the summer program, she too was no help. I had multiple questions about the program and she was not helpful in anyway. And while I was there signing up, I witnessed a terrible interaction between her and one of the teachers aides. She made some remark to the aide and the aide walked off cursing her out. It's no wonder the staff there sucks. Attitude reflects leadership. read more

I went to school here. Great community, although there are some catty stuck up people. Stay away from them and don't let them ruin your experience. I had great times here. Although i have to recommend that you switch schools when your child is going into middle school. The middle school part sucks. They didn't prepare me for high school math. Although English and History is excellent on the middle school side and they even prepared me for college. The life skills and friends you will make here are forever. St. Clare will always be a huge part of my life. read more

St. Clare's is an awesome introduction to school. My daughter asks to go to school. The teachers go above and beyond the call of duty. They get to know each and every student, they communicate to parents, they are kind and welcoming and treat the students as if they are their own. The school has a great balance of play based learning with academics. The school also offers amazing extracurricular activities (STEM classes, tumbling class, soccer class, on site field trips). I feel really lucky to have found such an amazing school for my child. read more

St. Clare School has/had a great community but things are changing. As a St Clare family, we saw many families leave and teachers being fired over the last two years. Teachers cannot teach properly without support. Even though the school was in excellent financial shape in 2012, St. Clare did not spend enough money on school supplies, art supplies, staffing to help with the large class sizes, or hands-on type learning activities such as science labs to properly support the teachers. It was frustrating to know that my tuition and all the fund raising that was done, was not enough to provide decent art supplies, science labs, or even facility maintenance. For many eighth graders, it seems it was the parents that got them academically ready for high school. Now St. Clare is tackling the Drexel Initiative (see their web page for more info). This is going to be costly and from the history of spending and leadership that I saw, I have concerns. The Drexel initiative was originally designed for schools that were doing poorly financially, so this is a weird fit, not really fixing the core problems of St. Clare. read more
