They attended for one year, and unfortunately, I do not have anything positive to say about our experience. The school feels more like a business than a place focused on education. The teachers, as well as the principal, seem very unprofessional. There is also a lot of bullying, and the school does not seem able to handle it properly, possibly because there are around 38 students in each class, which makes supervision and dealing with conflict (which is all the time) very difficult. In addition, the school does not offer any after-school activities or programs. Kids play and eat at the parking lot. Overall, our experience was not what we expected, and I would recommend that other parents carefully research before enrolling their children

That is the worst part and with long lasting consequences. - This school is a business, their prime objective is to make money, not to teach and form human beings. - Classes are overcrowded (40 children in one class). This, unavoidably, impacts both academic and social/emotional learning. - Very few electives, with 'art' being the only legitimate one. The 'art' teachers are great (if those that we know are still with the school). - Volatile faculty/staff, very few accredited teachers stay with the school for more than 2-3 years. - I wish I could turn back time and never enroll my child in this school. I will never forgive myself.

On our initial tour of the preschool, I immediately felt the warmth of the community and their…read moregenuine interest in understanding what our family was looking for. Coming from another school, we knew which areas had felt lacking for our daughter. When we voiced those concerns, the preschool director was incredibly reassuring and made us feel that the school truly partners with families--meeting each child where they are rather than trying to fit every child into the same box. After two years in the preschool, we saw those words come to life. In every area--from academics to social-emotional growth, and in the thoughtful incorporation of Christian values that align with our home--we witnessed the school's commitment in action. This made the decision to continue into elementary an easy one for our family. The entire school community is warm, genuine, and deeply knowledgeable. We are so grateful to be part of a place where our children are both nurtured and challenged to grow.

In the midst of a public school system that seems bent on pushing parents out of the raising of…read moretheir own children, SJCS is all about partnering with parents. They're a Christian school for Christian families and that results in a great community where people hold similar values. They also have stellar academics; the bi-annual standardized testing they participate in shows that not only do they excel compared to the state average, but they exceed the average of private schools on all categories, in all grade levels! We have all 3 of our girls enrolled there (Kindergarten, 2nd, and 4th grade). Beyond the basics, they have got great art and music and drama and computers and maker classes that the kids all get to experience. When we took a family trip and were walking through the National Museum in London, the girls were excited to recognize a painting that they had been discussing in art class. They also do plays and musicals at all grade levels and Ms. Miller arranges entertaining, original works for them to do. I'm especially excited about the ways the school works public speaking into the curriculum. As early as 3rd grade students are giving short presentations before the class and one of the culminating moments of 8th grade is giving a 20 minute "Ted Talk" in the auditorium, in front of the whole middle school. Surely this is the cause of some nervousness in the students, but the value of developing these skills young is so immense! Next year, we're looking forward to the no-cut sports that start in 5th grade. Our daughter isn't a great athlete but I look forward to the lessons of hustle and teamwork. Other schools have sports programs but they are often only for the students with well developed skills rather than being open to all. Also, starting in 4th grade, they have over-night trips. Our oldest just got back from a 2-night "Gold Country" trip. Many schools have impressive class trips, but they are often a large additional expense. SJCS's trips are subsidized by the fund-raising efforts of the school and so the cost is kept minimal. Other schools may brag about their programs, but then you find out that there's a waiting list and a lot of additional cost for those programs. We haven't decided where we will send our kids for high school, but SJCS has guaranteed admission with both Kings Academy and Valley Christian. Personally, I like the idea of keeping them in the smaller middle school at SJCS where they have a chance to be a mentor to the younger kids via the Buddies Program rather than having them on a campus with high schoolers before they're at that point themselves.

The parents, students and faculty truly want to build a better community. 8th graders usually have one foot out the door but St. Chris students want to leave an impact for the next generation. Our daughter was reading in kindergarten because the school puts in the work. Yes, every school has their hiccups, parents that complain over silly non sense, students not listening (we've all been there). What they have built upon in recent years is a legacy worth remembering- it's about building a stronger community for lasting generations.

We love this school for many reasons: One reason I love this school obviously is for there Catholic education which is important to me and my family(we even live in a good school district-we even travel 6 miles to school everyday) They have many different programs they offer there; they now have a stem lab along with using MacBooks for learning and doing graphic design as well as Spanish, art, pe, and many other great programs. Everyone is very involved(parents and staff). They always communicate and make sure your child is on track and not falling behind. They offer different sources of communication via parent square and PowerSchool. Both are great tools to keep track of what's going on and grades. My daughter has a learning disability which they created a 504 plan. Mrs. Cosentino(the school principal) and Mrs. Somovia(vice principal) have been very supportive along with many other staff members. They are all very caring and doing everything in there power to help the kids succeed. I highly recommend this school to anyone looking for a private school education even if you are not catholic. Saint leos is a great school and wonderful community of people and great teachers! Thank you Saint Leo's for providing my kids with THE BEST education!

Sacred Heart school implemented live distant learning within two weeks of shelter in place. My second grade child received instructions in language arts, math, social studies and religion within the first two weeks. Soon after science, music and PE classes were live as well. Art and Spanish assignments were given. There is after school enrichment activities that were provided that my kids loved. It was a pretty seamless academic transition from school to home. Only one platform (google classroom) was used so it was organized and easy to find class links and assignments. My Jr-K child did not have assignments to turn in but was provided enrichment work and a live class every morning that included a circle time, calendar, math, Spanish, music and PE. Every Monday morning there was an all school assembly online led by the student council that helped my kids feel connected to their school community. Mass was live streamed every Thursday for the students and Parish led by Father Gary and every Friday Mr. Pulchny posted lighthearted messaged for the kids that sometimes featured his dog! The teachers and staff at Sacred Heart are caring and warm. Mr. Pulchny is an approachable and kind principal. Father Gary and Father Robert are involved in school activities. When school is in session, the Junior-K program has a low teacher to student ratio with 3 teachers in the classroom at a time. The students have a designated Spanish, PE and Science teachers. My child feels connected to his school especially being able to go to school with his older sister in the same building. My second grade student goes and comes to school happy. I feel the academics are appropriate for her grade. The science, art, music, PE and Spanish teachers are wonderful. She has made friends in second grade but also has formed friendships in other grades that was nurtured with the One Heart Program and having a "buddy" when she was in 1st grade. The school supports activities such as Girl Scouts and a Book Club that is led by parents. There is Parish activities such as Music Spirit Team where the kids can sing in the choir which is led by a music director. Every year there is a parish and school carnival that brings the community together. I am grateful we have found the Sacred Heart School, Parish and Community a nurturing environment for my kids to grow up in.

The front desk along with Ms Naylor all committed perjury to police officers and falsely reported that I was the one who did what I called to report about and the HR department of the school district tried to allege that there has been all this misconduct on my part AFTER I complained with a police report on their staff - they ironically have no emails , incident reports, or police reports against me or my conduct at this school as a parent but are now alleging this with zero documentation after I had to file a report on this school - this gross misconduct and illegal behavior needs to be investigated immediately. I tried to complain once before about Kathleen's unprofessional behavior and was ignored. Kathleen and the women in this office have gotten away with so much that they now feel emboldened to put their hands on parents of the students. After I filed a police report and contacted the superintendent- they retaliated and stuck to a similar lie behind Kathleen (which they weren't able to say the same story when separated and on the stand which is why their claims were dismissed ultimately). They are now trying to falsely defame my character to other school staff members and parents by saying there is a retraining order against me when there in fact is not further adding to the lengths these people are going too to save themselves from a pending lawsuit

Challenger made a huge difference for her. Her classmates were friendly and supportive, and the teachers were patient, professional, and genuinely caring. We are also very impressed by how well the school is organized. However, based on our son's own request and preference, we decided to bring him back to Challenger for 1st Grade. The fact that he specifically asked to return says a lot about how he feels about the school environment. There are a few key aspects of the school that we find very effective: 1. Rigorous English Curriculum: The language arts program is very solid. In the Literature class, students read and analyze 10+ books per semester. The level of close reading and comprehension required is impressive, and it provides a great amount of reading volume that is hard to find elsewhere. 2. Structured Learning: The school emphasizes discipline and a consistent routine. We find the weekly quizzes very helpful, as they allow us to monitor his progress and ensure he is staying on track with the material. 3. Parental Peace of Mind: Because the curriculum is so well-organized and the expectations are clear, it makes the educational process much more manageable for us as parents. We feel confident that he is building a strong academic foundation. Overall, we are very satisfied with our decision to return to Challenger. It is a great fit for families who value academic discipline and a thorough approach to core subjects.
