This 980,418 square foot mall is located in Waldorf, MD. It was built in 1990. As you would expect, there is tons of parking available. It is managed by the Simon Property Group that manages many malls across the country. The mall is home to over 120 stores and has Dick's Sporting Goods, J. C. Penney, Kohl's, Macy's, and Macy's Home Store. as it anchors. I visited this mall on a Thursday night in mid-December and it was. pretty empty. Santa Claus was there though. What stuck out to me the most about the mall was how clean it was. It was very clean and updated. It had a play area for kids and you will find stores such as Yankee Candle, Bath & Body Works, GameStop, Build a Bear, Foot Locker, Journey, Hot Topic, Spencer's, The Children's Place, Pandora, Zales, Finish Line, Claires, Sip and Paint and Victoria's Secret. There is also an AMC movie theater, a selfie museum and post office there too. It should be noted that the Charles County Government plans on opening a Sports and Wellness complex in the old Sears location very soon. The opening date has not been announced yet. In addition to a vistit from Santa the mall hosts the Easter Bunny, Financial Workshop for Children, Animal Shelter Pet Adoptions, Maryland Kids in Safety Seats event, Game nights and hiring events. You will find a fair selection of eateries that feature America's Best Wings, Charley's, Auntie Annes, Sabarro, Ocean Blue Grill, Jeff's Burgers, Haagen-Dazs, Asian Chao and Cinnabon. I will admit that the mall has a well documented history of thefts, and violent acts including shootings and stabbings, but I did not feel unsafe during my visit. In a time when malls are dying, I like this one. It is easily accessible (by car and public transit), has all my favorite mall stores and eateries and is very clean and updated. Since I was not far from Waldorf, I used to go to this mall as a teenager. It doesn't seem like much has changed but there are a few new stores. The mall was not crowded so I am sure if you need something you can be in and out quickly. I didn't shop but the Cinnabon is still good though. I'm still baffled that malls in this area and state are somewhat thriving. Even after all that has happened, pandemic and rise in online shopping, the malls here somehow have been able to survive. This mall didn't disappoint in the aspect that they have a high occupancy rate. Plenty of stores to choice from to grab your wares. Enough eateries in the food court to take in a meal if you didn't want to venture anywhere else. I read over the other reviews, some of which are dated, and I don't see the complaints. Malls are set up to be a destination area. Just because it is a mom and pop store filling the storefronts doesn't detract from that. Malls were meant to be a place where the community comes, and in some cases zombies. I would rather take the mom and pop stores than for a storefront to remain closed for an extended period of time. Not every mall will be the same. They differ and if you don't like what is offered here you are, by all means, allowed to go somewhere else. A good place to stop for a group of picky eaters - you can drive around back to the food court. They have a Sabarro, lots of Asian options, cheese steak, Popeye's, Burgers, Wings, lots of snacks. He really liked the spicy shrimp tacos at California Tortilla. I was less impressed with my bubble tea, but I think that's because I ordered a strawberry milk tea. It was way too sweet and I couldn't finish it. I don't think the guy put any tea in - it was just strawberry milk with bobba. (Maccaro Bobba and Smoothie bar) Oh well. The stores are good in this mall as well, and it's 2 stories so good for teens to hang. They have done a good job keeping the place clean and updated. read more

St. Charles Towne Center has definitely seen better days. So many of the stores were vacant. A lot of small off-brand stores and foodcourt restaurants. The new boba place in the food court was good. The anime store, Otaku, was nicely set up as well. Otherwise, its not a mall that I would go to at the top of my head. I'm hoping for the best, though! read more

The Sleep Number store is the worse. They are during deceptive business practices. If you ask for the price of a bed, they will tell you that you can finance. Please do not ask for any information, they will run your credit and open an account with a bank. We did not purchase a bed and now I have to cancel a credit card that I didn't know I would receive. This is going against my credit. The practice is so deceptive that I it is not worth one star. This SLEEP NUMBER should be the next company that goes out of business. read more

Not sure what to say about this mall, other then it needs work. I have been in this area most of my life and have never seen it change for the better, it seems to be getting worse. It's the stores that they move in pretty basic. Honestly, it's only still alive because of the department store it houses along with tropical nails, post office, and Dick's sporting goods. Old Navy I want to start off with saying that I love Old Navy. They have really cute stuff for a very affordable price. But yesterday, I went into this Old Navy in a search for a winter hat for my 8 month old son. I walked into Old Navy and was not greeted by a sole. I continued on and found the baby section. From the time I entered the store, until I got to the check out, NO ONE came up to me and asked if I needed anything. I saw a lady who worked there sitting in the corner, leaning on a table of clothes, on her phone. As I passed by her, she didn't even look up once. There was clothing all over the floor, sitting on the bottom on the shelves, in messy piles. So many things weren't were they were supposed to be, which made it difficult to find what I needed. The best part about my stay there was when I went to check out, the lady at the check out went and found what I needed. Amongst the messy piles of clothes and unorganized ranks I couldn't find the size of the clothing I needed because when I found the clothing, it was located in the girls section, not the boys .... where it should have been. She let me try the jacket on my son at the counter, which was nice. I was literally appalled with this Old Navy. I worked in retail many, many years. I understand things get hectic. You get caught up. But things weren't so hectic. A lady sat on her cell phone, not doing her job. I'm a very understanding person. I do not, however, have patience for things like this. I really hope they set their game up in time for the holidays. read more

Okay place to go wander during the day. There's always a county sheriff presence, especially Friday and Saturday evenings. I need help with my review yelpers, this is the mall that I grew up in and come back on the occasion when I'm hankering for a Cinnabon cinnamon bun or something from Cajun Plus in the food court. Well I can't get C.P. anymore because they are gone!! Yes that Chinese food place in the corner of the food court that served the Roast (red) chicken is no more. Probably moved out because of increasing rent although I could not get a definitive answer. But that shiznit was hitting like a Bryce Harper bat. I do not know why it was called Cajun Plus when it served general tso chicken, beef and broccoli, fried rice... I guess the one station of bourbon chicken superseded everything else who knows. The point is that place is gone and I think a little bit of me died with it being removed. But wherever you have moved onto Cajun Plus I WILL FIND YOU! My lil nod to General Zod in the Man of Steel movie. Stay Tuned. For now solid 2.5 stars, I will update upon discovery. read more

What happened? In less than 15 years St. Charles Town Center has lost numerous retail stores and we don't even have a sit down restaurant inside the mall. Why? There is plenty of money (incomes) available to spend in Charles County. Why do I have to travel to: northern VA, Montgomery or Howard County to shop at a decent mall? I've posed this question to Simon Mall company via email on at least two occassions but I never received a reply. I have even emailed Great American Restaurants to encourage them to take a look at the mall. Reached out to Wegmans and Harris Teeter to consider a site in St Charles... I'm trying It's disgraceful I have, isn't that an actual job? Oh one last question why did AMC spend all the money to renovate the theater only to employ staff members that don't vacuum regularly or wipe down the seats? Come on Charles County retailers, let's stay competitive and keep our retail establishments aesthetically pleasing, stocked with items residents and travelers want to buy. I thought my friend was joking when he worried about my safety but some quick online searches showed that indeed there had been stabbings, shootings, and lots of robberies here. When the security guard asks you upon entering if you've hid all your valuables in your vehicle, you know to be wary. There's not much more to say except don't go here unless you ABSOLUTELY have to. This is obviously not the trendiest mall in the world. But there are enough reasons not to hate this mall. Those reasons are mainly Victoria's Secret, H&M, Forever 21, Charlotte Russe, and New York & Company...Bath and Body Works for the smell goods also. These aren't the best stores but they are very practical ones that you need. Don't expect any super glam designers like Prada, Fendi, Gucci, not even Guess, Bebe, or Juicy Couture. They have a decent amount of practical women's apparel selections here though. Oh and it's not ghetto. Yeah. Pretty clean and well kept. That makes me happy. On to the not so great! Is it just me or do they need more shoe stores and I'm not talking Foot Locker!???! Aldo maybe or a Nine West. Hell, I'd even take a Bare Feet. Or maybe its not the mall at all, maybe I just couldn't find them lol. All I know is I found great clothes for work and couldn't find a decent source of shoes. Came here too look for professional clothes for petite self. Had no luck finding anything I liked at Express, NY&C, H&M, and Macy's. I'm a size 0 so I probably will have better luck online. I was going to eat at new place in the food court called "Sammiches". I ordered the shrimp & grits. After waiting 20 minutes I was informed that they had to make more grits, really! So another 15 minutes go by and we get our meal, but the grits are uncooked! Never going back there, it's poorly managed and unorganized! They took out forever 21 years ago in exchange a gussini smh... everywhere you turn there is new stores like stores that you find in IVERSON MALL OR FORESTVILLE MALL.. tbh the only good thing here is Chick fil a. Half of the stores just needs to close down because you can never find anything good there. My biggest complaint about this mall is the lack of professional clothing available. I'm not the only one as many of the women I've met shopping in the mall have said the same thing. For kids, they have plenty of stores and I've never felt unsafe here. It is just a standard suburban mall. For nicer clothes and more upscale stores, you have to drive to Annapolis or Pentagon City. For a quick pair of tights to get you through a meeting, Macy's has them. read more

It's an ok mall. I have seen way worse. It has been redesigned. It has this nice wood theme going for it. It does not have a Apple store. I say this because, you can usual judge how the mall is going to be if there is an Apple store in it. Not yet, it's still Southern MD. It is a clean mall, always has been. You will find some pretty nice stores like Vicky's Secret, Bath and Body Works, Macy's Home and Macy's. I would give it a visit. I have been to this mall several times. The have a lot of nice stores. It has 2 levels and a good food court. It used to have a Ruby Tuesday, but it's no longer there. They should definitely put another restaurant inside the mall that serve alcohol. I'm just saying lol :) read more

Was at this mall when it opened; what a great place then...clean, open spaces, plants, lots of light....good stores; Eddie Bouer, The Gap, The Limited. Over the years it has gone down. The quality stores have gone - in favor of cheaper, lower quality-- More importantly- the quality of people has gone down. It's now a spandex, bleached out, blobbed out - rude, crude, and noisy kind of place where people will bump into you "just cuz"- and men mostly like to show their butt cracks, and women look like cheap hookers. People are ill mannered and unkept, ill-bred and just downright unpleasant -- Customer service basically a thing of the past with mid-mall hawkers trying to use high pressure sales tactics to get you to buy their wares. This mall has really gone downhill. 4 of the stores are cellphone stores. There's 5 chain jewelry stores. The clientele leaves a lot to be desired. I spilled a bit of coffee on my shirt, went to the restroom near the Penny's to clean it off. I noticed 2 guys go into the nursing bathroom and lock the door and 2 different guys came into the men's room where I went. While I was washing my shirt off, One of them went into a stall and while in the stall (not using it), looked out over the top of the stall door and called out to me 3 times...only to tell me I was a F'ing A-hole twice. He then told his friend to kick my a**. I didn't know these guys nor had I run into them anywhere before. I guess he didn't like the color of my skin. I realize the mall has security, but what are rent a cops going to do with no real authority? Besides, if security needs to be at such a level that you don't even feel safe using a restroom, there is not much point of being there. If the clientele that goes to that mall doesn't want me there, then they can have it. read more

Well I'd have given it 4 stars if it wasn't for the 'ghettofication' of this place. Don't take that the wrong way. It's not a racial slur in any sense, it just means that with the overpriced housing market in PG county, those of lesser incomes are moving south and it shows. This used to be a great place to shop and hang out, catch a movie and dinner. Now if you ain't packing anything bigger than .50 cal machine gun, you are gonna get messed with. I've experienced the opening and now the slow decline of St Charles. This mall is still not so bad Monday-Friday. It's the influx of ill behaved people starting Friday night and ending sometime Sunday late afternoon that makes this mall avoidable. Unfortunately with the quickly changing demographic there is little that can be done to change the feel of this mall. A few bad apples does spoil the bunch. read more

This mall has definitely gone down hill. Over the past few years most all the decent stores have left. Even Starbucks is no longer in this mall. Gap and Gymboree, among other stores, have closed. The mall really is old and ghetto looking, inside and out. What is left at the mall are pretty much lower priced stores with a few nice chain stores (Bath & Body Works, VS, Macy's, etc). The mall can be dangerous, though the county does not like to admit it. Those of us who, unfortunately, still live in Charles know to be careful when at the mall (esp at night). I would definitely not go alone. Do not even get me started on the movie theater! I would definitely go to the other B&BW in Waldorf and drive the extra miles to go to a nicer mall like Annapolis. read more
