Finally a store for MEN! Oak & Adze is a diversified lodge of masculine products for refined…read moregentlemen, rugged lumberjacks, rough and tumble woodsmen, or soulful artisans. Perusing this new shop on St. George Street was a delight for me but I wished I had my husband in tow so he could pick out what he likes. They have the most fascinating products including hand carved sling shots from California Beech, hunting knives, pipes, and beard and grooming products. They are also plenty of axes because Oak & Adze philosophy is, "Every man needs to own at least one ax." The all-natural beard and grooming products are also locally made here in St. Augustine! One thing I had my eye on was their colorful "Seed Bombs" to use with their Sling Shots. The Seed bombs are in the Slingshot ammo area and have a seed mix containing 10 different wildflowers inside them. Their website states, "To activate the Seed Bombs soak them in water until they become soft and squishy. Then take your slingshot and shoot them in any direction you would like. Once the seed is shot watch the seed bomb blow up on impact causing a cloud of color. Have fun shooting and gardening!" It's wonderful to have a store that's a celebration of masculinity and a haven for "Gentlemanly Men" but women can still have a great time there too!

Went in and was pleasantly greeted and asked if they could help, replied just need to look around. They have a large selection of items; men, women, children, sun activated apparel, rain jackets, hats and accessories. Back in Nov I bought 3, long-sleeve performance wear, light weight, 100% polyester shirts. Each one has a special weave that makes it sun protection of UPF 40+, it is a quick drying fabric (they do not shrink, are dryer safe and do dry fast if you decide not to put into a dryer), and is anti-microbial and odor resistance. One of the owners of 1565 Trading Company is an artist and those are his hand drawn designs on these particular shirts, making them 1 of a kind/unique. I visited my daughter again, over the Christmas holidays and found myself back at this store. Wound up buying 3 new shirts (different designs). They had another shirt I liked and wanted, but did not have my size. They took my name and phone number and said they'd contact me when the next set of shirts came in. Sure enough got phone call telling me they had my size and made the purchase over the phone, and provided my mailing address (live in Glen Burnie, MD) and I actually had the shirt in-hand in two days. The lady I worked with is named Tara, she is the store manager. She is wonderful, very professional and extremely personable and polite individual (and easy to work with). We also did a lot of communicating by texting. I told her one of the 3 shirts I got over Christmas was the wrong size, was my fault, grabbed the wrong one. She said, not a problem return it and will exchange it for the correct size - so, I actually sent it to my daughter who will take it in for the exchange. So, although I could/would not get a refund, they definitely will work with you to exchange an item for something of equal or greater value (of course, exchange for size as in my case) - either in store or again in my case over the phone. You can also start an account and purchase items on-line. If you are reading this review, you really must go up to their website (www.1565trading.com) and see the large selection of clothing and items they have available.

They both made sure it got shipped to me right away, and followed up with the tracking info. Thanks Tara and Amanda - you provided such WONDERFUL customer service!! I also want to mention I purchased my new favorite super cute comfy shorts in the shop while I was there, and I'm getting so many compliments! I can't wait to visit the store in person again!!

Didn't really find anything that had a thrift store price. Everything seemed to be at a premium for what it was. If you like that level of curation then it's cool. This 2012 antique/vintage shoppe is open from 10 AM till 5:30 PM seven days a week. It is a clean,…read morewell-organized shoppe w/ quality wares. Staff (the owner & a vendor) were VERY FRIENDLY and HELPFUL. (Be sure to check in to receive 15% off any one item that is not marked "firm.") I purchased mid-century framed art for my home, as well as a stamped, light blue 1960's Santa Anita Ware dish w/ a drip glaze. A friend purchased 1980's framed art as well as gorgeous sterling (925) earrings. Prices were reasonable-- definitely not too high. This appeared to be the case throughout the shoppe even though multiple vendors sell here. A smaller-sized home, it has been converted & wonderfully transformed into a vintage shoppe. Within the six or so rooms, visitors will find vinyl albums; vintage clothing (one full room of it); many jewelry displays for men & woman; dishware & serving pieces; wall art; home decor; lamps; MCM furniture; & much more. Parking spots on busy San Marco Avenue are few & far between, but there is plenty of free parallel parking along the many side streets. (Probably the best parking is directly behind the building.) Best to avoid this area around dinnertime. It took us a great deal of time to leave the crowded area. I suggest visiting @ other times to avoid the heavy traffic. But DO stop in here; it's worth your time! I WILL return the next time I'm in the area.
