Our poor Halo had some severe GI issues yesterday that warranted an emergency trip. Staff were incredibly friendly and very understanding of Halo puking in the waiting room multiple times. They mopped it up and never made it feel like an inconvenience. We were seen quickly and the vet who took care of us was fantastic. Younger gentleman (I'll need to edit this with his name). I was very concerned with price as previously for an emergency obstruction surgery elsewhere we felt taken advantage of. That was NOT THE CASE here. They only did what was necessary and the cost was very reasonable for emergency care at midnight. Honestly it shocked me how low it was. Halo came home and slept really well. Woke up in good spirits and ate a little food. I am so thankful we came in last night and were able to ease her discomfort. Thank you!!

Good day, everyone. My name is Alex and hope you are having a great day. I would like to start off with saying how extremely uncomfortable and terrible I feel about typing this post. But as a fellow beloved pet owner, I sense an obligation that everyone should be warned of the potential experience they might have with this facility. Now I recently got a new puppy by the name of Mylo back in September. Black goldendoodle. Super cute. It was an early Christmas gift from my mother as we recently lost our other dog, Lexi. Mylo was all fun and happy until one particular Thursday morning when refused to eat. Immediately I thought that was strange, however dismissed it as we recently altered his food, upon leaving it there in case he would take a bite later on in the day before heading to work. Upon returning home late, my family and I noticed he hadn't eaten at all. That same night he began to vomit bile combined with blood and we just knew instantly something was terribly wrong. We rush Mylo to this hospital upon recommendation of his initial veterinarian. The staff were wonderful, except for one, the vet themself. We found it a little odd that we weren't able to witness the examinations as that is what we're use too. Nor were any fecal or blood tests performed to our knowledge. But once again, dismiss it as they were the specialists, not us. The vet was a bit rude, informing us that he didn't see nothing wrong with Mylo as he appeared healthy and that he possibly ate a sock or something he wasn't suppose too recommending x-rays. We decided against them as we assumed if it was indeed something Mylo ate it would just eventually vacate his system. Unfortunately, when we got home, the vomiting continued, becoming brown with even more blood. Not comfortable with returning, we sought help with another clinic to get a second opinion. Mylo had parvo and could have died that weekend, possibly into the next week if he wasn't treated properly. We couldn't comprehend how as he had already received two of his parvo shots and is kept away from other dogs, however, the other vet he could of still gotten anywhere despite his vaccination. The other vet couldn't comprehend why at the very least a fecal test was done, but they weren't there and couldn't speak on the behalf of the first vet. That weekend was sleepless and food less as me and my family did everything and anything to preserve Mylo's life. Cleaning like no tomorrow. By the grace of god, he survived and is now 6 months all cheerful and go lucky. Furious. Hurt. As I still remain. I requested to speak with a manager trice and was able to get a hold of one stating they couldn't get back to me a certain date. Now mind you, I was never angry or disrespectful to anyone, I just simply wanted my money back as they could have nearly costed me my dog's life if I didn't listen to my gut instinct. And upon feeling like I was being given the runaround, I decided to dispute the bill with my credit card company. Unfortunately, just recently I learnt it to be unsuccessful. So, I beg of you, before spending a dime here, please, please be cautious. I'm sure they are a great place, they just weren't to us and it will surely be one I'd never visit again...

Happy healthy"Kai" after this amazing staff saving his life! Thank you!!!

We are so grateful to the amazing staff for saving our sweet dog Kai's life this weekend . After taking him to another vet and getting no help or answers we scooped Kai up and went straight here. He had not ate in 5 days or kept water down for 4 days. He was extremely dehydrated, lethargic and he was deteriorating by the hour. This staff and amazing veterinarian immediately gave fluids, steroids, antibiotics, nausea meds, and we left with high hopes. He kept all fluids down and began eating slowly. By yesterday Kai was running down the stairs happy wagging his tail wanting to eat everything! He's back to playing with his toys. Thank you all for saving Kai and the professionalism, empathy and quick action for our fur baby. I did leave a honest review of the vet that treated our dog like a money sign and not concerned of his health at all. That vet was Del Mar veterinary hospital. This man Ramon Nieves is not a qualified veterinarian and has no business treating animals. Here is a picture of Kai today so happy and back to life!!!

We brought our dog in with an aural hematoma. They fixed him up well and thr price was reasonable. He's healed up and back to normal.

As someone who travels a lot for work, I love knowing that the vet is steps away from the boarding facility when I leave him there before a trip. The techs light up when they see him and it makes me feel better knowing they remember him and know how he is and what he needs. Aside from highly knowledgeable and friendly staff, you can't beat the price point. Most affordable boarding I've been able to find, and the dental cleaning he had done recently was less than the averages I was finding online. Love this place!

My dog requires prescription diet food, and I asked the office to approve the prescription through Chewy after Chewy informed me that the request had not been authorized. When I contacted the veterinary office, I was told they no longer approve prescriptions through Chewy and that I would need to purchase the food through their online store or come in person to pick up the prescription. I explained that this was not possible at the time because I was on my way to take my husband to the emergency room and my dog was running out of food. I asked if an exception could be made given the circumstances, but they declined. I found this response to be unnecessarily inflexible and lacking in compassion, especially considering my long history as a client and the urgent personal situation I was facing.

We also have another dog, Hazel, who we plan to bring in and establish as a patient here in the future, so finding a vet we feel comfortable with for both of our dogs was very important to us. Unfortunately, I have to admit that I didn't keep up with Chance's dental care the way I should have, and he has already lost a few of his front teeth from heavy plaque and tartar buildup. As a dental hygienist, this is especially hard for me because I know firsthand how important oral health is and how much untreated dental disease can affect overall health. I feel terrible that I let his teeth get to this point. Chance had a dental cleaning when he was around 5 years old, but it was more of a superficial cleaning. At the time, they essentially wrapped him up like a little burrito and cleaned his teeth without anesthesia. Since then, it has been several years, and I even tried using my own dental instruments to clean his teeth myself. I quickly realized that this was not something I could safely or effectively do at home, and I certainly didn't want to put him through being restrained and wrapped up again. I knew he needed proper dental X-rays and a thorough cleaning performed by a veterinary professional. At our appointment, Dr. Walsh carefully evaluated Chance's teeth, and we also had a senior blood panel done to make sure he is healthy enough to undergo general anesthesia and to minimize the risk of any complications. We are currently waiting to hear back about his bloodwork results. In the meantime, he was prescribed antibiotics to help reduce the bacterial load before his upcoming dental procedure. So far, I've had a great experience with this veterinary office. The vet tech took the time to go over all of the expected costs with me, provided a written copy and detailed breakdown, and I really appreciated the transparency. I especially liked that they included potential extractions in the estimate just in case they are needed, while also explaining that those charges would be removed if extractions are not necessary. Based on what I've seen with Chance's teeth, I unfortunately expect that he will need at least a few extractions, especially because I noticed how loose some of his teeth were when I attempted to clean them myself. We have already scheduled Chance's dental cleaning with Dr. Walsh for a few weeks from now, assuming his bloodwork comes back okay. I'm very happy that we found this office and feel confident that Chance is in good hands. We came in specifically because of his dental needs, but we were also looking for a veterinarian we could establish a long-term relationship with for both of our dogs, and so far, we are very happy with our experience. We look forward to bringing Hazel in as well and making this our regular veterinary office. Most importantly, I'm looking forward to getting Chance's mouth healthy again!
