The site is less than 15 minutes south of downtown via a couple of interstates. Once you exit it is probably only a mile or so. The mission complex is located on a tribal reservation. You turn off the paved road to a large field of dirt and gravel in front of the mission. The center part of this is given over to semi-shaded stalls for vendors - food like fry bread, etc. Parking is along the sides. When we visited, the facade was partly covered with construction scaffolding, but this was wrapped with tarps that reflected the building beneath it. So you could still get a good idea of how it would look uncovered. Inside, there is the main church on the left (as you face it). This is actively used, so be quiet / respectful. Passing through there (or entering separately on the right) there are several smaller connected rooms that have displays about the history of the building and the local area. In back is a courtyard with a fountain. I'm not sure the public has access to this, but you can view it from a shaded arcade. If you like historic buildings or old missions in particular, this is an easy stop within the Tucson area. And the fry bread we got as we left the parking lot was good too!

They were like family to me once upon a time. I left the church when I was 16 and I'm now almost 23. I'm still a strong Christian/believer but the things I experienced here have unfortunately traumatized me and I carry with me on my day to day. If you go to this church you may notice no one stays longer than a year or two, if you start volunteering/ get close to the pastor's family they expect you to agree with them on everything. You will lose the right to your own opinion and perspectives and I do believe they twist the bible to fit their own agenda. If you disagree with them you might find yourself being called into "meetings" and being talked about on the pulpit. If you are to ask about my comment I guarantee they will say that I was a troubled teenager or am not a real follower of Jesus but that is just not the case. The manipulation and control tactics I experienced had me cut off from all family and friends, and I shamed on a daily basis. Nothing you say to the Pastors family will stay between you and that person. I do believe this church is the definition of what a modern day cult truly is. Pantano Christian Church is non-denomination. It prides itself on Loving People to Jesus. And that's just what they do. If you're in Tucson, definitely plan a visit. The church is huge, but everyone is family, just like at smaller churches. Everyone is friendly and knowledgeable. The cafeteria food is delicious....best chefs around. Almost every message feels so personal, like the sermon is just for me...deep meanings and great teachings. Pantano has so many strengths. One of their main strengths is with the kids. Not just toddlers or elementary, but they have fantastic groups and teachings for middle and high school ages. And if you have any availability, join in and volunteer. You can be a greeter, help with food, serve communion, help in kids' classrooms, support the audio, etc. The church is decorated well with a huge open area, basketball nets, rock climbing, etc.

There are multiple masses on Sunday, which is great for society nowadays. There are no excuses now! Each individual priest are great! I can't think of specific ones, but when I go to them, I'll make sure to update on the dates and times for everyone! EVERYONE is welcome, families, kids, all ethnicities, and religions! It's a time to share great times with the community! Education is a HUGE part of this school. The school has very high expectations from the get go! Don't be surprised if you're the parent and you're struggling with your kindergarteners homework! =) Scary right?! No but honestly, it's a great school and church! Give it a try!
