This church--its pastors, its people, and the whole atmosphere--is the most vibrant, welcoming, and Christ-centered place I've ever experienced. Pastor Furrow teaches directly from the Bible, and it's clear God has given him the gift to do so in a manner unlike any other I've seen or heard. To restate. I've never been to a church as alive, and servant-hearted as this one. It's truly a special place. I volunteer to help as often as I can just to be there. I was blessed to have attended this church for 10 years from 1994 to 2004. At first i was a believer but not yet understanding what was mean by a personal relationship with Christ. Within a year of attendance, i was fully committed to Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I was head over heels in love with Him. I wanted to serve Him in anyway i could and this church made it so easy for me. They welcomed me with open arms and had everything a new believer needed. From basic foundations for new believer's classes and bibles studies, this was the church for me. We were fairly small when I started, but when I left it had outgrown our small east side church, and we moved into the current location on Speedway Blvd. I served in the children's ministry for 6 of those 10 years and only moved away to move to Durango Colorado; some 10 hours away by car! lol :) The teachings are spot on as Pastor Robert teaches through the bible, exploring each passage in depth. read more

Great church in terms of message! Love all the services for young adults and main services. Great opportunities to serve! Only reason I take out a star is because there is no real community everyone always leaves after service. I'm part of the young adults group ignition great messages and structure but as some of my friends who used to go have also said finding new friends and community especially when your new to a city not really the place for you if you value finding community in a church. Fantastic church. The sermons are always interesting, to me anyway. I have been going here for over 8 years. I saw someone else comment on all the people wearing ties n being stiff. I don't remember anyone wearing ties, I wear shorts, and the people are very friendly, to address the other persons feedback. I like that Pastor Robert teaching right out of the Bible, not just a general teaching. If you are looking for a Church to go to, give Calvary a try, I think you will like it. read more

I started visiting Calvary Chapel East during COVID19 this summer 2020. They were open and practicing all COVID19 protocols. Upon entering the building, there are greeters, wearing masks, at the doors to welcome everyone. Prior to the service, amazing contemporary Christian live music is played and the congregation is encouraged to sing and clap. After the music introduction, Pastor Robert Furrow, positive and high energy, leads the service with Bible based teachings and applies the messages and prayers to our lives. I had hopes for this as a possible new church home. As of today, I'm second guessing that. Unfortunately, the majority of "churches" are still ill equipped for individuals who fall on hard times (housing, lack of employment, et al). Also the age group at this location. is largely older (I'd say late 50s and up, not many in the age group of 30-late 40s). All churches need networking within the Body of Christ as a whole, and within the walls of the church, and through small groups. For members but also for non-members. If we are to truly take care of one another, there needs to be a way to take and accept individuals seeking employment, for example, and temporary or semi-permanent housing. Open up your homes or rooms or guest homes. Have a trusted and verifiable way of assisting others that way as well as with connections for employment. Stop assuming prayers and recommendations for local/state/federal assistance is the way to do it. The churches/places of worship and community organizations ought to be the very first place anyone going through hardships can turn to. Not local/state/federal governments. Not everyone is homeless, or has an addiction, or is a single parent, or a widow(er), and we're being lost in the shuffle. The financial assistance is very particular, and mainly for the church members themselves. In 2008 myself and millions of others experienced a very similar "there there let's just pray about it" response to unexpected changes. It's 2023 and millions of Believers, all ages, have needs that require unique types of networking amongst each other as individuals and as a "church." Please broaden your world view. Also, while I don't have any complaints per se with the sermons, they're not particularly enlightening; I could go through my personal notes from my quiet times with God and be more fulfilled. read more

It's easy to enter into worship with the beautiful, contemporary music. Pastor Robert is a great teacher! He makes the Bible interesting and relevant, always giving practical application. I always hear great things about the kids' programs, and my grandkids love coming to church! I like that the church offers so many opportunities for so many different types of people and needs. They even have a Bridge Home to help men transition from prison back into the community, and the church's mission work is inspiring. I'm thankful for this church! read more

I am fairly new to Tucson and trying to find a new church this welcoming non-judgmental and Godly church is hyped up however sadly upon my first time their were greeters at the door they looked me over as if I was invisible my hand did not get shook as many others in front of me and behind me did still I thought I would continue on maybe it was just simply an oversight as I joined into the sanctuary I feel very uncomfortable not one person from the time I entered the front doors to the time I left smiled shook my hand said hello happy to have you.... nothing not a word this is definitely not a church for me I guess it depends on who you are in regards to what treatment you receive!!! I have been searching for a church for a almost a year now, I have attended service here twice once at 8am on Sunday another on a Saturday 6pm. While I enjoy the different time options I have yet to feel truly welcomed as a new comer. In fact I was a little taken a back by a statement this passed weekend where the preacher stated "in black churches" - I was not sure why the comment was necessary to what he was speaking to. He was referring to how some claim to be prophets and that is it is common in "black churches" this shows some sort of bias that I am not sure if I am comfortable with. I could have misunderstood, I will attend one more service, but I am curious about the comment and what he meant because "black church" does not identify a certain denomination. read more

I would like to share my first experience with Calvary on east Speedway. I tried another church last Sunday so I decided to give Calvary a try today. I was late getting there so I thought I would just catch what was left. I found out where the service was being held and started to go into the sanctuary. As I started to open the door, a man approached me and said you cannot go in there. I told him that I wanted to attend the service. He said the service was already half over and that I could listen to the rest over there. He pointed to an area by the cafe which was outside of the sanctuary. No hello, or greeting of any kind. This is the first time I have ever been told that I could not go into a service because it had already started. So, I will continue my search for a church home. read more

If you are lost, and need some light in your life- definitely check out Calvary chapel. There's 2 separate churches for kids and adults, which is great. Kids learn about the Bible in kid language. They sing and dance and the teachers are kind and gracious. As for adults-the main chapel has a full band so the music is amazing. Pastor Robert relates the Bible to real life and current issues. You can always take something away to implement in your own life. I was skeptical at first, I grew up in the Catholic Church. Every time I attend Calvary I feel peaceful, and I feel love. It's a great place to worship, or to find peace if that's what you need in your life. read more

Today was my first visit to Calvary. Everyone was extremely friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere is casual. The Pastor delivered a wonderful message. He's truly a student of the bible and his sermon was appropriately funny and serious in order to spread the word of God effectively to all. I'm not sure how communion is handled. The church is ok but allot of stiff neck Christians. I sat in the back due to all the suit and ties I seen. I wasn't there for the people but my self. The pastor was right on and the sermon was what I needed to hear. I agree with Lisa L Worship lacked. I guess going from the Rock Church in San Diego to Calvary Chapel in Tucson it is to be expected. I agree God is working here but the snobs needs to lighten up a bit or people will not be coming to Christ. I will pray for this church. I am Catholic. However, I wanted to go to worship on a Wednesday evening. I chose the Calvary Chapel 6pm service and found the congregation and pastor welcoming. I sang and listened and sang. I felt 1000x better when I left. I cannot make it every week, but I sure was glad Calvary Chapel was there to help me get through a tough day! read more

Calvary Chapel is a great bible teaching church. Pastor Robert Furrow's sermons are teachings that strengthens our hope and belief in Gods word, verse by verse, word by word. I always walk away feeling refreshed, challenged and encouraged. As you enter church through the doors you are always greeted with a smile and a handshake and sometimes a hug. All of the worship teams are outstanding. Their musical sets often include old hymns, country and contemporary Christian songs. Young children attend their bible study in the children's ministry and my grandchildren enjoy it very much. Attendees are encouraged to get involved in church ministries such as women's bible studies, prison ministries, or building homes for the poor.
