Wood chip base, which was a little annoying. Also, no restrooms as per the norm for Arvada parks. None close by either. Not a lot of shade, except for the picnic structure. The picnic structure can be reserved for $60 plus a refundable $25 deposit, according to the sign. Definitely one of the better parks in Arvada.

A good amount of grass for a picnic or playing sports. Even just rubbing around with friends or working on training with your pet. The main centerpiece is the new playground. Wish I had playgrounds like this when I was a kid. It's both aesthetically pleasing design and color wise as well as imaginative from its obvious layout design and open imaginative play design. (Nobody does but it gets the people going.) A fair amount of people loitering nearby. Park is open to all but the trash is not ideal for families and children to play. The park and playground are clean but you definitely see some refuse around that shouldn't be.

The girl scout shelter has working restrooms and a water fountain that is also clean and well maintained, the surrounding playground is clean and all the swings and other equipment function properly and is free from graffiti and other forms of vandalism. In the winter the trees along both sides of the road a covered in Christmas lights and while driving by at night it looks like you are driving through a tunnel made of sparkling multi colored lights.

It is not the kind of park with hibachi grills or picnic shelters which translates to more privacy, less noise and a refreshing degree of charm. The pool is small yet never seems over crowded. Lots of trees and foliage throughout the park offer nice cover for private walks with your special one (or special two, three..?). Many people run with their dogs throughout the park but I have never stepped in anything. Bravo dog owners!

Plus, it's got a rec center and it's where all of the Denver police hang out. And I think they do some SWAT or combat training there. So sometimes you get to see these cool cocaine and dynamite-sniffing German Shepards. It's not all that crowded. It's 1.2 miles if you follow the path around the perimeter of the park.

Every morning I go to meditate at this park, I see dogs being walked at 6AM with little flashlights and watch couples walk every night, if I happen to be out with my Aspen Pretty Eyes. The beauty of this park are the Tennis courts, walkability, TREES many Beautiful Trees, 2 ball parks, rentable grills and tables for large parties. Many come once annually for a gathering, it is traditional. People are friendly, so are the squirrels, give them peanuts early in the morning, they are so cute. Please be sure to clean up after your dog/s and say hello to those you see often and smile. There are picnic tables everywhere, a pool during the summer, with exercise course, the bathrooms are not to great, visit your own at home. Enjoy nature in its beauty here, there are many parks around, this is one special place.

They have concession stands so you could see how it could be a really fun place to come for games, especially in the evenings.
