Nick and the team at SVE recently replaced our out-dated electical planel and I would highly recommend them. After leaving messages for a few local compaies, SVE was one of only two who replied, and then the only company who followed up. They kept me informed every step of the way and went above and beyond to fix a scheduling issue and make sure that the replacement went to plan, including coordinating with the electric company and the county. Thank you to the entire team at SVE. read more

Barry was recommended to me as the local expert on low voltage systems. So, I called him when my very dated system went out and asked him to see if he could fix it and also quote the replacement. He got back to me the same day and we scheduled what was planned to be a free evaluation visit. After Barry arrived, he instead ended up spending about an hour of applied time that afternoon debugging and resolving the issue. Not only was he able to revive my legacy system (for now), he also uncovered and resolved problematic and potentially unsafe wiring done on my main panel likely done by a legacy owner. Barry was friendly, super easy to work with, very knowledgeable and experienced and went way above and beyond for me during his first visit. I had little hope that my system could be revived and no expectations he could do so quickly. I highly recommend Barry and his company. read more

Our needs were simple. We were adding outdoor heat mats (HeatTraks) for entry to our Olympic Valley condo and needed to install outdoor outlets to power the mats. We have 31 stairs and a 20 ft bridge to get to the front door. Barry responded promptly. His first concern was safety. He arrived promptly to inspect our electrical panel. Our condo was built in the 60's with aluminum wiring. Barry wanted to make sure everything was safe before he took the job. SVE replaced our electrical panel and installed 5 new outdoor plugs and a Lutron control. SVE planned the job and got it done. Bigger job than planned but extremely happy with the quality of the work and results. We can turn mats on and off remotely as needed. No more snow shoveling. No slippery ice on entry. Thank you Barry & SVE!! read more

After working with Barry and SVE on a small project, I have nothing but great things to say about his business and work ethic. Barry ensure that the project was completed thoroughly, on time and with great communication during the whole process. When Barry said he would get something done; he did it and more, keeping his word on all items promised and with a high level of quality. Highly recommend SVE as a business for your needs. read more

I have used Squaw Valley electric for years- they are the best! Yesterday I had to have them come out to service a thermostat for our heated floors. I had an urgent electric problem at my home in Rubicon. Being July in Tahoe and the busiest time of the year, I had a hard time finding an electrician. I contacted 4 businesses that came recommended by others but the were unavailable. The most frustrating part of searching was calling at least 13 companies around the lake and Reno and Squaw Valley Electric was the only company to return my call and understand the urgency of my problem. Barry called me back within 30 minutes and arranged for one of the electricians to visit & diagnose the problem. Nick was not only professional & efficient, but at my home within a few hours. It seems rare to even get a courteous call back anymore, regardless of the business. I think it speaks volumes about the work ethic of this company and a common attitude & desire to serve their customers. What a great team. I am one happy satisfied customer! Thanks to all. read more

Squaw Valley Electric installed a high end Luttron lighting system in my home in Olympic valley in 2011. I have been very pleased with the system and the service. There haven't been many occasions to request service but every time I did Barry and his team were very responsible and got the issues handled quickly and in a timely manner. Recently during Christmas week I needed some assistance with the system. Called Barry and he got one of his technicians Scott here almost immediately in spite of being very busy with the holiday . Scott quickly fixed the issue i and got me up and running.. Couldn't recommend Squaw Valley Electric more highly. read more

Last week's storm ripped the power lines off our cabin. A full seven days later, Liberty Utilities finally arrived to say they wouldn't do any of their repairs until an electrician repaired the damage to my electrical panel. Barry Thys of Squaw Valley Electric returned my call in ten minutes recognizing the sense of urgency (5 days before Christmas) and did what I thought would be the impossible. He coordinated getting all the components purchased and assigned a crew (Billy and Tyler) to repair all the damage, all the while staying in contact with us to keep us apprised of the progress. His crew did a fantastic job, Phone call to Squaw Valley Electric Monday at 10:00 am and power to our cabin was restored at 8:30 pm. Tuesday! Barry Thys of Squaw Valley Electric is the best of the best. read more

Because of the high quality service and collaborative approach to design, I have hired SVE for three different houses over 15 years. Two complete electrical installations for new houses...including Lutron systems and blinds and a third install of Lutron blinds at a condo in the Bay Area. We will never live without them again (thanks Barry!) Barry has always worked with us to get the best value for our budget and the results have always been stunning. Barry is a perfectionist so be ready for his strong views and approach, but he really cares and wants the best result. Highly recommend SVE! read more

Barry went above & beyond for me from the very beginning. He was professional, friendly and got the job done efficiently & effectively. Barry and the Squaw Valley Electric team did A LOT of work on my house, from A/V system to Lutron lighting and shades to core electrical system and high capacity hot swap generator. Across the board they did great work. They are smart, efficient and responsive. And when the work was complete, they still checked in and came by numerous times when we wanted to tweak various things like the lighting programming. I hadn't worked with them before this so I started with a "show me" attitude. Over time I learned that they were true to their word and they really did care about doing great work. Even now, Barry checks in to make sure everything is working the way we want it. I'm a huge fan and they get two "thumbs up" from our family. Oh, and their billing is easy to follow and totally transparent. Great people. Thanks SVE team! read more

SHOUT OUT! We learned a couple years ago that the home we bought in Truckee had electronics installed by Barry's team at Squaw Valley Electric. I communicated with him a few times and we recently had an issue with our Lutron system. I called and he sent a technician out the following day who quickly resolved our problems right before the Holidays. Barry and Squaw Valley Electric are experts, courteous, prompt and fairly priced. What else could you ask for? I look forward to calling him in the future as technology evolves and more fun things become available. read more

We recently purchased a newly constructed townhouse in Kings Beach and needed to find someone that was able to install a reliable WIFI system in a 3 story building as well as come up with the appropriate audio visual solution for our place. Our realtor recommended Squaw Valley Electric and after a short phone call and visit to our place Barry and his team came up with a great TV and Sonos solution for us, designed and implemented it within a week and we had everything ready by the time the furniture showed up prior to moving in on a fourth of July weekend. Juan, the lead installer checked back with us a few times and recently helped us with a warranty issue with same day notice. I can't speak highly enough of Barry and his team and how much they care about their work. Anyone that has ever built or remodeled knows and appreciates the value of a contractor who completes the work on time and on budget. Our Tahoe home is a second home for us and it is reassuring to know that Barry and team can be counted on if we run into issues that are within his scope of work. read more
