My wife's iPhone 6 recently experienced the Battery-won't-hold-a-charge malady, which she had fixed at the local Apple Store (a 3 week-delay I might add). I had purchased a 2nd Square Trade policy after the first policy expired for this phone. I was curious to see if this was covered and saw that BATTERY FAILURE was covered--cool. The repair bill was $31.39, which I promptly uploaded in my file claim. It was rejected because I needed the ORIGINAL PURCHASE receipt of the phone (from 2015!). I called and asked that since I had to upload that receipt for my original policy, why did I have to upload it again? No dice--I HAD to to upload the original phone purchase receipt to process the claim. After much digging and consternation, I contacted Verizon, got the receipt, then called Square Trade back and spoke to a rep. The rep stayed on the line while I uploaded the original phone purchase receipt. I was told that I should have called first to get a claim number before repair, but that she would approve the claim this 'ONE TIME'. However, upon learning that the amount was for $31.39, she rejected it because the policy has a $99.00 deductible. What kind of horse%$#@ is that? Shame on me for 'THINKING' this small repair would be covered despite the deductible. In the online Square Trade "artwork" listing all the repair services and typical repair amounts, ALL the prices are over $99.00, i.e. Camera Failure--$269, Liquid Damage--$849, etc., EXCEPT for the Batter Failure--$79. So, I (naive me) assumed that since it was under the $99 deductible, that it would be covered. After all, it IS part of the visual--What Does Square Trade Cover? I've always heard bad things about Allstate Insurance (parent company of Square Trade), so I'm adding MY REJECTED CLAIM story to the pile. read more
