update: it looks like they also removed this review from public review on their favebook page…read more interesting. joined this gym in November, 2015 with the understanding that further improvements would be happening (platforms for deadlifts/Olympic lifts, more athletic/functional things). in 5 months, nothing has changed. spoke with the staff (who are great) about cancelling and was told we'd be slapped with a $100 cancellation fee (each!). woah. spoke with the owner with the understanding that I signed a contract but when I mentioned the changes he told me "anyone can say anything" with a smirk on his face. it's an okay gym if you're in it to do 30 min of cardio and 3 sets of 10 reps on machines and such but as far as circuit training, strength in the way of power lifting or Olympic lifts, functional fitness, this is not the place you wanna go to. rest of the staff is pretty friendly.

Friendly staff: Don, Vincent and team are awesome. A clean gym - seems very new - with a good variety of equipment: free weights, machines and cardio. Definitely fits the "un-gym" judgement-free zone that Planet Fitness claims. No gym bros deadlifting 800 pounds, slamming the weights then screaming "YEAH!!!". A quiet gym with cool people, everybody is respectful and nice and does their thing. I'm amazed how almost everyone wipes down their machine when finished too, using the provided cleaning solution and paper towels. Love this place!

This was on April 2, when the Y charged his account. Because the card was frozen, the payment did not go through. The Y immediately charged my son a $35 fee. I called the bank, but they will not reinstate the card for several weeks. I contacted the Y and they refused to help. Not only that, but THEY RAN THE CARD THROUGH AGAIN FOR APRIL 4 WHILE THEY WERE TALKING TO ME TO TRY TO INCUR ANOTHER $35 CHARGE!!!!! I asked to talk to the branch manager or billing department but was put on hold indefinitely. I tried to call YMCA of Central NY, but they routed me back to the Northwest Branch. I then got an answering machine message. I will go pay the $77 right now so my son doesn't incur a second $35 charge, but neither I nor my son will ever go to the Y again.

Everyone was friendly, including the owner, Jayson, who is very obviously a real fitness enthusiast. He constantly rotates in new/different equipment at his gym. He was very welcoming. As far as value, I came in on a guest pass, but for being a 24/7 gym, that's clean, never crowded, plays good music and has equipment you won't find anywhere else, what Jayson charges per month is an absolute value.
