Hi there. I am writing this review in total support of the Spruce Lodge. I truly enjoyed my stay here even if it was for one evening to rest my head. I visited in early May of this year journeying through southern Colorado visiting my lifelong goal of reaching every national park in the country. So....just coming from Great Sand Dunes National Park exploring for the day, Spruce Lodge was only 66 miles away. Although South Fork is just a drive through town, ending my eventful day here was ideal for me. Also, the following day I was heading to Mesa Verde National Park 137 miles away but Spruce Lodge was situated right in between these 2 great parks so I highly recommend staying here especially because there's no towns or cities nestled in between if you were to bypass South Fork....if you're headed west like I was, you head straight into the mountains for a while. In my opinion...Spruce Lodge had aspects of part bed and breakfast with a villa and rustic feel to its rooms. Lol, I was sort of enamored with the looks of it all that I photographed my room and the grounds outside to post on Yelp explaining how cozy and clean I felt the accommodations were. Simply trying to explain...Spruce Lodge is a little mom and pop spot to stay at located right off the main road in South Fork. I checked in at the main lodge and was kindly given the keys to my room by the innkeeper. My room was based back outside the lodge towards the left hand side. It was connected as part of a townhouse/condo which was an unexpected surprise because all I was asking for was a simple place to sleep for the night. And yet I go so much more. My room inside had a cabin vibe to it and felt very clean. Also, there were 2 chairs next to the porch outside which I sat down on after dinner soaking up the setting sun before heading to bed. There is a BBQ restaurant right next door to the lodge that looked interesting but unfortunately the one night I was staying on a Monday evening, was the one night the BBQ place was closed. Still, the innkeeper recommended The Old Firehouse Restaurant just down the road and it was more than suffice. Old Firehouse serves American food offering sandwiches, burgers, soups, salads, pizza and classic dinners such as meat loaf and pot roast. I'd recommend going here if you're not a BBQ person or if the BBQ restaurant next door is closed. Finally, Spruce lodge has free continental breakfast offered starting 6:30 am. If you're interested in a full breakfast, I believe there's a restaurant that you pay for inside the actual lodge...though since I wanted an early start out to Mesa Verde the following day, the continental breakfast was plenty enough. Almost forgot, visiting in early May, my room rate was $65! That was fantastic for the situation and for what I believed to be a quality a place to stay. I can imagine when it's more in season, the rates would never be this cheap. In all, I'd certainly recommend choosing Spruce Lodge. For location, accommodations, price, food options and surroundings it's about as good as you'll find when trekking through southern Colorado or wherever your travels may take you. read more

Another Groupon customer... I came with few expectations, and really enjoyed our stay. We stayed in the main lodge, upstairs facing the main road. This place isn't in the woods, but is easy to find and in a small town off the highway. It was a base-camp to hop in the car and explore the area. The floors are creaky, but the beds comfortable and the rooms simple and comfortable. The electric fireplace was a nice touch and kept the room warmth just right. The jacuzzi in the recently refinished bathroom was a comforting touch after a log day of hiking! I loved the family atmosphere, the friendly dogs, and the nice kids. The continental breakfast was well stocked and provided nice snacks anytime of the day. The place makes me think of a rustic hunting lodge... and I appreciated the veterans-friendly attitude. Despite my intention to disconnect from the outside world, the wi-fi was nice ;) We'll be back! read more

I was quite pleased with my accommodations here. The bed was particularly comfortable and the quality of the linens and pillow cases was, I thought, exceptional; as was the quality of the towels and washcloths. A+. Everything was also very tidy and clean. And the fact that someone came in each day to make the bed and check the towels and trash, etc. was a nice touch. Also the third pillow on each bed was a welcome provision. And they were pretty nice pillows. I didn't have to use my own. The breakfast in the little breakfast restaurant was perfectly prepared, and the menu selections were very nice and the prices quite reasonable. This place is run by a husband and wife and have spent a lot of time and money remodeling. It has some cabin type rooms and a few suite type rooms in the main building. It has lot's of log furniture an d trim. Hard wood floors through out the suites. Rooms are clean and roomy in the cabins and have a variety from king, queen, doubles, and suites. We ended up in the Rio Grande Suite in the main building. There are stairs outside and a door to enter from the outside. After you inter the hall they have i think 4 suites to choose from. All have very nice hardwood floors with log trim spacious living and nice bathroom's. Rio Grande Suite had two rooms one with a king bed and very cool antique decor and a living room with a futon couch bed. Both rooms and bathroom had Amish heaters so it was very warm. Ceiling fans in both rooms too. I did find the floors and king bed to be kinda noisy. Our suite had super nice tile all over and a jacuzzi tub for one with a nice shower head. Windows were really cool with pulleys built into the window. It was nice ventilation. There is easy access to the lobby from the hall of the second floor. They also have tiny continental breakfast. They did nice flat screen TVs in the rooms and living rooms. Over all it's a nice cozy lodge run by friendly family types. It did seem they could get a little over whelmed at times. The only draw back the restaurant next door. They had live music one till eleven o clock that you could here but other than that it's a very nice place. Not a lot of choices for food in the area. The Shaft next door was terrible. The South Fork Malte Shoppe in town was good. read more

This place is just what we needed. We are in town for a family reunion and the cabin the family's staying became too crowded so we booked a night here. One night turned into four nights because we became a little too comfortable. The beds were comfy and rustic --a perfect Colorado lodge. My favorite part of our stay was the lodge's restaurant. We were served some of the best sausage gravy and biscuits ever...also--the staff were super friendly and helpful. Would love to stay again! read more

Just don't! This place isn't worth more than $35/night! We paid $75. Stopping in a random little mountain town at midnight on our way through we didn't really have many options. We arrived and our key and registrations forms were pinned to the door of the office. When we found our cabin the door was wide open during a thunderstorm. My husband had to clear room before we went in. If he wasn't armed and if I were a woman traveling without a man I wouldn't have felt safe entering. We walked in to find a deer head facing the beds. I don't think even if I hinted it myself would I want it staring at me while I sleep! We covered it with a towel. My daughter found blood in the sheets that looked like it hadn't even been washed since the blood got there. And thank God none of us planned on showering because the bathtub was disgusting! We were only there 7 hours and we were all so grossed out that we barely slept. We should've just driven through the night! read more

Lodge and room were both clean but the room was run down. Bed was comfortable and continental breakfast was decent. But they weren't at all welcoming to our family (husband, wife, 7-year-old and toddler--well-behaved, too). We are not white, so if you're at all different (from white), be wary! In addition, my husband works in IT and had a call at midnight for an IT roll out. He asked if he might be able to use the lodge's lobby for his call so he wouldn't disturb the family. He used the lobby for about 30-45 minutes and then finished his work in our room (until about 3:30 am). While they agreed to let him use the public area, his "different" behavior seemed to tip off the proprietors that something must be amiss with us (apparently it is aberrant to work globally). We were treated with hostility demonstrated by a couple things took place the next morning. First, everyone avoided us while we ate breakfast; second, the owner came out with his arms crossed and stood staring at us while we ate our breakfast; and third, after breakfast the sheriff was sitting in his cruiser out front until we had packed up our car! The attitude they showed us was completely undeserved. As seen by the other reviews on Yelp (which I wish I had read before we booked. I used Trip Advisor to research), the owners clearly don't know how to deal with tourists. read more

Do YOU want to stay somewhere that treats their customers like this? EEK! Run far, far away! ORIGINAL REVIEW: Filthy, old, disgusting place. Do not stay here! Clumps of hair on the floor, questionably "clean" sheets, loud bar next door with horseshoes and karaoke games that go all night. When I went down to investigate the racket it turned out the Bar was full of the hotel owners. We were so uncomfortable and felt so unwelcome here that we left a day early. I love Spruce Lodge. The owners, Dee and Rob, and incredibly nice people who run this lovely lodge in southwestern Colorado. My mom and I stayed here before and after a backpacking trip in the area. Our room, located in the newer cabin area, was clean and extremely comfortable. There's a small fridge, cafe table, a t.v, and nice smelling toiletries, including a pouch of eye makeup remover! If I could only the count the times I needed makeup remover while vacationing. With that said, the best part is the beds. They are amazing; when I woke up the next morning, I fought hard to get out of bed. I honestly could have stayed there all day but there are so many adventures to be had around South Fork. If they have vacancies, they leave keys up front on the door incase you come in late and they aren't at the desk. Grab a key and settle up after a good night's rest. Seriously, after a 26 mile trek through the rain and mud, seeing that key was a godsend when we arrived at 1am! Not only do Dee and Rob own and run Spruce Lodge, they also do all the cooking and service for the quaint little breakfast room in the main lodge. The breakfasts are everything you need to get your day started and they graciously accommodated my vegetarian requests. Rob certainly has a way with biscuits and pancakes and as I write this, I wish I had a plate of those biscuits. Everything was so tasty that we both ate until we were uncomfortably full. Hell, I'd do it again, though! Please remember this is a mountain lodge in a very small town. If you're expecting the Four Seasons and can't handle the lack of a whirlpool tub, swanky bar or room service, get over it (and yourself). If you want to stay somewhere that is incredibly charming, ran by a friendly, local couple and very befitting to southwestern Colorado, Spruce Lodge is definitely worth checking out! I look forward to my future stays here... and to eating more biscuits than my stomach can handle. read more

Quaint place, rustic feel. My whole family really enjoyed our stay there this week (Jan.2019). Sister, brother and nephew all got rooms for their families in the historic lodge while my husband and I got a pet friendly room in the building beside the historic part of the lodge. All rooms were clean and decorated nicely. Beds were made for us every morning. Continental breakfast was nice and included in the price of the rooms BUT we all really, really enjoyed our breakfasts when we ate in the restaurant, Fat Karl's located in the lodge lobby. The "Rob" cakes and bacon were so good! Eggs cooked perfectly. I didn't try the bisquits and gravy but it looked great when my Niece-in-law ordered it. We also enjoyed the hot tub on site. Relaxing after a long day of skiing Wolf Creek. We plan on staying there again. read more

I wanted to like the Spruce Lodge, but for $100+/night I expected better than one step up from a Motel 6. The pictures make it look much more cozy and quaint than it really is. We stayed in the Baxterville Room. The bed was so creaky you couldn't roll over without waking the other person up. The paint and texture was peeling off the walls, giving it a very run-down look. Some of the towels had stains resembling poop on them. There was a clog in the bathroom sink. The hardwood floors had nails sticking up partly, so that our socks caught when we walked in that area. The floors were creaky, and fellow guests going past in the hallway sounded like a herd of elephants. The noise from the lobby also carried up to our room and we were woken up each morning by chatter in the foyer below us at 6 AM. The floors were also incredibly dirty. After walking the few feet from the bathroom to the bed, I had to brush dirt and hair off my feet. My husband, trying to be non-confrontational, asked if there was a mop he could use to clean our very dirty floor...and they gave him one to do it himself without apology or offering to help. Which brings me to their "don't like it? There's the door" attitude. They have signs posted saying their restaurant is where "happy people eat. If you are grumpy or in a hurry, come back another day." A sign in their so-so continental breakfast area says they reserve the right to charge you for taking extra food. The only time I saw a staff member, she came into the breakfast area with wet hair, scowling at the guests. She had a little boy with her so I took her for a guest, until she started swearing at the "little bastard" cat who had snuck in through the front door. When my husband told me she was an employee (the one who gave him the mop), I was shocked at the complete lack of professionalism. At check out my husband brought some of these issues to the attention of a gentleman who we had not seen previously and he said we should have brought it up sooner. Since the lady who gave us the mop was so surly though, we didn't think there was much point. If you bring up that your floor needs mopping and they let you do it yourself, how much help can you expect? read more

There was 6 of us on bikes. We reserved 2 rooms. When we rolled in we were wet and tired. The lady at the front desk was very nice and helpful. We went to our rooms and they were comfortable, and we sat out around the fire pit. The next morning we went to their restaurant to have breakfast . The lady that greeted us, Dee was her name I believe, she was rude right off the bat, not sure why, we were not rude or hateful we were just hungry. Waited quite a long time for our food, which she said it would be a 50 minute wait because we ordered biscuits. Whatever. The food was delicious, worth the wait! We ate, paid our $100 bill, and pulled out. As we were leaving the "cook" came out on the porch and flipped us off with both hands!!! He said a few profanities about " Bikers" and stared us down as we left! Do not go there!! Go to Pagosa!!! read more

We found the Spruce Lodge to be affordable, comfortable and clean. It's unique, not a chain hotel, but it's a place you'll remember - in a good way. I travel a lot for business, so I really didn't want to stay in a typical hotel while on vacation. We chose Spruce because it seemed more like a B&B. The free breakfast was more than adequate, the breakfast restaurant was affordable and delicous. We also loved the restaurant next door for BBQ. Spruce is the kind of place you can leave your tweens in the room while you enjoy a beer at the bar. Small town, owners live there, I think. We will go back! read more

My husband and I reserved the cook's cabin for two nights. We couldn't even stay an hour. Keep in mind I am not one who complains. Positives of this cabin- free wifi, but I can't attest to the speed because I never got to use it. Cute vintage refrigerator and has a kitchenette. Pretty cheap. Towels looked clean. Cons- Upon entering the cabin it had a terrible odor and was very musty/hot. We opened all the windows to air it out. Went into the bathroom and toilet was seriously stained and there were hairs all in it as well as in the sink, like the bathroom hadn't been cleaned. Looked in the claw foot tub (which I was excited to use) and it as very dirty, moldy, and stained as well. The stove looked dirty and stained. I didn't take the time to look in the microwave. The couch is dingy and dirty looking. The bed spread was dingy and the throw pillows were stained. Once the musty smell was aired out a horrible stench of urine appeared, especially near the bed. The "canopy" bed is of cheap construction and when the top is touched it seems like it would fall without much effort. I only know this because there is no place to hang clothes and when I hung the two shirts that needed to be hung on it the frame was very wobbly. Also, the cases on the sleeping pillows had multiple hairs on them. I understand that sometimes in the washing machine hairs end up on things but if I'm staying in a cabin/hotel I want clean sheets without strangers hairs on them. Just as an FYI the mattress is very firm, not a con for all but to me it was. We stayed for about and hr and my stomach was hurting from the stench. I went to the front desk and Dee, the owner, came out. When I explained why we couldn't stay in the room she obliged and refunded our money, but she was quite rude about it. She stated that she told me about the stained tub. I do not recall that. I do know that she told me the tub was 100 years old though. She also said the cabin is 115 years old so you should expect it to be quirky. I understand quirky but the cleanliness was not acceptable to me. (Also note that Dee did say this was the only reason that she would refund our money.) As the desk clerk was refunding our money Dee stood by and made rude comments. In an extremely condescending tone she said "Let me go ahead and open it back up online; actually let me go get the waiting list. I have plenty of people waiting for a room." She then looked me in the face and said very rudely "Good luck to you." Honestly, in the future I may have tried to stay in the lodge as the reviews on those rooms are good. We come to south fork every year but due to the rudeness I would not ever try to stay at this establishment again. read more

We'd never been to South Fork, but we will be coming back. And when we do, it will be here at the Spruce Lodge. This is a home away from home and the owners are incredible hosts (and so are their kids!) 1920's pine pole type lodge with a lot of great upgrades...like flat panel tvs, free wifi, jacuzzie tubes and fun electric fireplaces in the suites. Our three little kids loved the place and will probably be asking us every time we talk about a trip if we're going to the Spruce Lodge. The lodge is great on its own, but the owners couldn't have been more gracious hosts and really take it over the top. Thanks for the great memories you've given our family! Stayed one night. Paid for the room with a jacuzzi tub. The jacuzzi didnt work. The bed was like sleeping on a concrete slab. The wooden floors, while beautiful and authentic to the building, were incredibly LOUD! Also felt really "soft" in areas. I was scared to sit on the toilet, afraid I was gonna fall through the floor. There was a door or window somewhere that banged all night. The inn keepers leave their cell number and then you dont see them again. We left between 8:30 & 9:00 in the morning and couldnt find them anywhere. Oh yeah, the free breakfast. Watered down orange juice, coffee but no sugar anywhere to be found, cold boiled eggs in the fridge (who knows how old), prepackaged muffins and granola bars. read more

Great place. Owner Dee is a very nice lady; when I wanted to extend my stay but the whole place was booked, she looked up local places and availability for me. Her husband and her own and run the place. It is their home, likewise has a great ambiance, and is well taken care of. The rooms smell great, linens crisp and fresh smelling as well. read more

Happy to find a relatively cheap ($89 per night), clean place to stay while we were skiing Wolf Creek. Cute little lodge with real (and creaky) wooden floors in the main building. We stayed in the Baxterville suite upstairs, very clean bathrooms with a jacuzzi tub and comfy beds. Would recommend for anyone that doesn't want to spend a fortune staying slope side and is okay with a short drive to the resort (10 minutes). Had nice little grab-and-go items for breakfast in the morning for us, too! read more

I've stayed in the cabinettes before and really liked them, but made the mistake of choosing one of the non remodeled rooms (#3) this time. It could use some sprucing up, pub intended. Sheets had hair in them, toilet/bathroom was dirty, and furniture needs some TLC. A coat of varnish and a stealthy cleaning could go a long way. The employees were very helpful and nice when I had questions, but I felt like we were bothering the owner with our presence at breakfast in the cafe (the food was great though). I'm from a small town myself, so I expected a bit more hospitality. I'll likely vrbo next time. read more

The place was great! I got tired of driving & happened to pull onto the shoulder in south fork, to use the app to find a place to crash. I was very happy with this place and with South Fork in general. I stayed in the South fork suite which is a two bedroom with a large bath tub, and it was perfect for my dad and me. The rooms were clean and well kept which is difficult to do in an older building. We ate breakfast there almost every morning, and everything that I had was great. The biscuits and sweet rolls were homemade and excellent as were the two or three egg dishes. I will definitely stay there again the next time I come through South Fork. read more

The tub/shower was broken and filthy....the owner extremely rude!! Make sure to read ALL the reviews. We spent the next two nights at an older "quaint" hotel in town and the staff was very accomodating. The rooms in the other hotel were roomy and very clean. It was a quiet, peaceful night. read more

We enjoyed our stay at this family-run lodge. We had a lot of room in the Rio Grande Suite. That was great! We had the best sleep we've had for a long time in that huge bed. We really enjoyed the Keurig (when we had supplies), had fun with the dogs, and Dee was so friendly and helpful it made our stay special. Two flat screen TVs, super! What a GREAT find! Neat little lodge with GREAT owners and family environment. It was definitely not fancy... quite the opposite. But that's exactly what a lodge in Colorado should be. Stayed there with the kids on a tour of southwestern Colorado. Price was right $94/night (counting tax), rooms were nice. This is an old property but seems well maintained. A solid four stars except for breakfast. By all accounts, breakfast is excellent IF you can get it. We could have been seated immediately but the group ahead of us was told it would be at least 45 minutes for food, possibly longer. We decided not to wait as did two other groups. They warn people that "if you're grouchy or having a bad day" come back later so I should have known something was up. I suspect breakfast is outstanding - it smelled good - but it may take more of a time commitment than you're willing to make. We considered ordering and coming back for the food but they will not do to-go orders. It was disappointing; the menu was great and the kids were looking forward to breakfast. We ended up eating in Del Norte. Still, I'd stay there again but I'd either dedicate a few hours for breakfast or just not plan on eating there. read more

I got a Groupon deal for a stay at a cabin or chalet at the Spruce Lodge. The word "cabin" brings to mind something a little different that what I experienced. I was hoping to go somewhere that was a bit out of the way, surrounded by nature. I didn't expect to drive 5 hours to spend the weekend in half of a duplex in a parking lot next to the highway. Descriptions and pictures on the website could have been a bit more helpful in preparing me for what I got. Dee (the owner) and another young girl (her daughter maybe) were both very helpful and sweet. For what the Spruce Lodge is, I would recommend it for sure. They put out a wonderful continental breakfast with lots of variety. They also have a little breakfast restaurant through the lobby with some really amazing food cooking up in there! The Spruce Lodge also features a hot tub in the back of the main building. It's a little bit sketchy, but we enjoyed it anyway. After all, I've seen much worse! The room/cabin itself was cozy. Very clean with a big bathroom and 2 bedrooms. The mattresses were like sleeping on the ground, and the pillows were a little flat. I did check for bedbugs, and they were clean in that department. However the box spring mattress had some mysterious blood stains on the edge. I don't want to know why! The living room/kitchenette area was a little cramped with 4 people, but we managed just fine. Though there wasn't much nature where we were staying, South Fork is very close to the Rio Grande National Forest, which is beautiful. The people in the town were very nice as well. read more

The owners of this B$B are really friendly. The rooms are cozy and warm. The wifi is fast. The beds were large and comfy. The pancake breakfast was hearty and priced reasonably. I didn't check out the oxygen bar but I probably should have because when went to ski Wolf Creek I had my first taste of altitude sickness. South Forks is a very small town. Mostly it is a waypoint for people enroute to check out the Colorado wilderness or ski wolf creek. It might also be a good home base for people to check out snowkiting in the San Pedro mountains. This is definitely not a luxury hotel, but as a ski lodge, it met my needs perfectly. read more

We purchased the Groupon to get away from it all, but we were a little TOO far away. It was a long, five hour drive and when we arrived, we were disappointed to discover that we did not receive a two-bedroom cabin as listed on our reservation confirmation. The four of us crowded into a room with two queen sized beds, armed with the makings for meals and not a stove top in sight. The error forced us to eat out at the restaurant next door (the only restaurant in town that didn't appear to be "closed for the season"). The beds were comfy and the continental breakfast featured a decent selection, but the restroom was in dire need of an exhaust fan and the water pressure in the shower was awful. We also ran out of toilet paper in the middle of the night and had to resort to leftover napkins from take out meals. During the day we found ourselves scrounging for things to do. We utilized our complimentary oxygen bar sessions and went on a hike on a nearby trail. Not much else to do for those who aren't into skiing. Overall, a fairly disappointing stay. Perhaps I had set my expectations too high. read more

I'm a big fan of this place. We came here on a Groupon, for two nights (Sunday/Monday). Dee and her family live on site, and they were very accommodating. When I asked for milk for my cereal in the morning, Dee said they were out but would get it for tomorrow's breakfast. And the next morning, it was there waiting in the fridge! The breakfast was quite extensive for a lodge, and I was pleasantly surprised. The room was cozy-- we had a king bed suite, with a jacuzzi tub. It was very comfortable, though the floors were creaky because of how old the building is. I think it adds character. We even had a flat screen tv with a good selection of channels (including HBO), and the fake fireplace heaters. We came for the proximity to Wolf Creek, and we were very happy with our stay. I booked a room here but due to weather conditions was going to be unable to make it. I tried multiple times to reach someone in order to cancel my reservation. No one answered, nor did they return my call. The agency that I booked this room through also called repeatedly, to no avail. As I result, I was unable to cancel my reservation, and it cost me $80. Extremely poor customer service. How difficult is it to pick up the phone? read more

Very satisfied with my stay. Very good bedding, comforters, etc. Tiny shower and very thin walls were the only negatives. Excellent restaurant breakfast if you want more than the free continental. Owners are nice and friendly. Good value for the rate. read more

Recently my family (and sister's family) stayed here for two nights, each in our own rooms. The second night we went to give the kids baths and saw the tubs were thick with scum and grime in both rooms. We weren't expecting anything fancy. Just wanted some place clean and with indoor plumbing. My brother in law went to let the management know but there was a sign on the door stating they were out and to please take a key to a room if you needed one. So my sister decided she'd clean their tub herself so her kids could have baths before bed (I didn't want to bother with cleaning our tub and just decided to wait until our next stop). She made it half way through cleaning and was exhausted and couldn't finish. The half that was scrubbed compared to the half she hadn't touched was appalling. We took a picture and the next morning went to let the management know the bathrooms needed attention and to show them the picture. As soon as we brought up the fact that we had an issue with the bathrooms the owner became angry. She told us we should have come when we first discovered the problems so THEY could clean it (which we had, but they were gone) instead of at check out. We told her we just wanted to let them know it needed to be cleaned and that my sister had started one of the tubs for them. We showed her the picture and she became irate. She was angry my sister cleaned the tub with a tub cleaner and she said that they only rinse them with bleach because they are 70 years old and scrubbing them repeatedly, though they would get clean, would make them wear down faster. She became so hostile and angry we had come to her with a problem that I just wanted to get out of there and fast! Her reaction made us terribly uncomfortable. She started demanding "What do you want?! Clearly you want something from me. What do you want?! Name your price!" I told her we weren't asking for a refund but just wanted them to be aware of the condition of their tubs. But she remained so adamant that we were just like "Everyone else who comes in asking for their money back after their stay" that I shut down just trying not to cry right then and there. My brother in law ended up getting so frustrated at her attacks he gave into her and said "How about a partial refund of our first night?" since that seemed to be what she was wanting from us. She just glared at him and said "How about this? I'll just give you a full refund of your first night and be done with it." and then she ran my card (I paid for both rooms originally). We couldn't get out of their fast enough. I was shaking by the time I got back to my room. We left ten minutes later. I did end up receiving a refund on my card about a week later. So we were going to leave it at that and not give any review because it showed some type of measure to try to make it right and we were ready to put it all behind us. BUT since then I have been getting charges from Spruce Lodge on my credit card for $50, $250 and $100. My fraud alert let me know what they were up to and is keeping an eye on them now. I have never once before gone to a place I'm staying and asked for a refund. There have been times I've stayed somewhere and, like this time, kindly gone to let them know something needed to be addressed and any time before they would address whatever the issue was and everyone was happy. Thankfully we bank with a military bank who really watches out for veterans. We've never dealt with theft like this before but know now to watch our backs for vindictive attacks from malicious people. This just makes me sad. read more
