There are so few…read moreplaces locally where one can truly unwind, take their children, or invite a friend to spend an afternoon. I take my children here every weekend. They feed the horses, play with the dogs, goat and pig. We arrive, bring our snacks, and relax. I don't have to worry about my kids when I take a lesson or go for a trail ride. Horseplay is really Gastonia's Horse lovers gem. They offer birthday parties, lessons, trail rides, on several different trails. Horseplay is the only facility in a 45 mile radius that offers these kinds of trails. If you looking for somewhere to host your child's birthday party, or spend an afternoon with a friend or your spouse, Horseplay is the place to go.

All the staff is AWESOME, they are knowledgeable, experienced, friendly, patient and the horses are the best. (Matt, Kayla, Journey) Their facilities are big, clean and organized. We HIGHLY recommend them! Our daughter has discovered her passion and she has made the best friendships at the barn while learning how to ride. They don't teach them just how to ride but also how to be responsible for a horse and all that's involved in caring for it. They are big on responsibility and making the young girls/boys aware that riding is a privilege. It is a priceless experience!

I found a trail at this park on AllTrails and it looked nice so we decided to check it out…read more The beginning of the trail was really nice. It goes through a wooded area and down to the river. Then the trail suddenly becomes a disc golf course. Now the disc golf course seemed really nice, but I wouldn't recommend hiking a disc golf course. You're just in the way if people are playing. There's a nice lake later in the course. Overall, I'd recommend it for disc golf or maybe just to hang out at, but I wouldn't recommend walking through the disc golf course like AllTrails recommends.

On our park tour of the city we landed at Idlewild Road Park. This park is amazing. We only visited…read morethe playground area but loved it. The playground equipment is so cool. They have a bunch of really nice pieces I have never seen before. The playground is also huge. There is so many different areas to choose from. The only bad part is one piece of equipment isn't safe. My nephew decided to play incorrectly on the 4 person see saw piece and his foot got scraped up pretty bad. Make sure that your kids don't try to ride/sit/stand on the middle piece of the see saw. There were two groups grilling out at two different shelters close to the playground. They both surrounded the playground. The one thing that impressed me the most was how clean the restroom was. The restroom is super close to the playground too which is very convenient. This park is kinda far from me but I will definitely make the trip out here for the nibblings. I just received an email from them, below in quotes, is their response: "No visit was scheduled as the barn network suggested issues, which were validated by your actions. All barn owners openly exchange details and communicate short tempered impatience owners like this to avoid the dramatic impact this lack of maturity can have. " My response is: 1) sending a personal note like this to my personal email is very unprofessional and may be considered bad conduct by a business owner using the internet to bully a potential client. 2) no visit was scheduled, that was the point of my original review, I couldn't get an appointment through the methods given through their business internet site. 3) If I ever get another email by this business again, I will be filing with The Attorney General's Office of North Carolina.
