My stay at SpringHill Suites at Solon was a disaster from start to finish. I was part of a group reservation for a church reunion. When I arrived, I was assigned to room 431. When I arrived in room 431, the toilet wasn't clean - to my horror, the toilet was filled with fecal matter (feces). The bathroom was in unacceptable condition. I reported this to the front desk and was reassigned to room 435. I had just arrived from the airport and it was an inconvenience to pack everything up and move to another room. When I arrived in room 435, the bathtub was dirty and there is a huge stain on the ceiling from a previous water leak, which may have signs of mold. The water in the sink near the bathroom would not get hot. On the evening of Saturday, September 19th, the power went out at 10:45 pm for almost 6 hours and was not restored until Sunday, September 20th around 4:15 am. I was on an upper floor, and without power and air conditioning, the room became extremely hot, making it difficult to sleep. The wi-fi also went out due to the power outage and wasn't restored until the afternoon of September 20th. There were a few disabled senior citizens that were part of our group and they were in a hospitality suite in the first floor when the power went out. The elevator wasn't working, so they were stuck on the 1st floor until 3:00 am, and eventually had to walk up multiple flights of stairs with canes. I reported my horrible experience to Steve, the general manager, and he was dismissive of my concerns and combative. He should not be working in customer service. I asked to be compensated for my experience. Initially, he offered Marriott Bonvoy points, which I declined, as I am not sure if I will ever stay at a Marriott property again. Eventually, he took off 1/2 the cost of one night of my stay, which was inadequate compensation in light of my horrible experience. My uncle, who was one of my disabled family members impacted by the power outage, also contacted Steve and was offered nothing to make up for the experience of having to walk up multiple flights of steps, with a cane, since the elevators were not working. I rarely leave negative reviews as I usually give management a chance to resolve issues. Unfortunately, my experience with SpringHill Suites Cleveland Solon left me no choice. We were on a cross-country road trip and had booked this hotel as an overnight stop. Due to unexpected road construction, closures, detours, and severe weather, we called ahead to let them know we'd be arriving very late (after midnight). They made a note and told us they would have the room available later. As conditions worsened, it became clear we couldn't safely continue and would need to stay elsewhere for the night. We contacted the hotel again to ask if they could cancel our stay or provide credit for a different night, possibly on our return trip because we had booked a refundable rate, but obviously was well into the night. They told us to stop in the next day along our journey and they will "see what they can do." When we arrived the next day, the front desk clerk Vicky was rude and dismissive. She informed us they would not adjust the reservation and said the only option was to "use the room for an hour" because they had extended a "courtesy late checkout." When we picked up the key and went to the room, it didn't even work. There was no apology, just another key handed to us along with a reminder that our remaining time was now 45 minutes after losing 15 minutes from the incorrectly programmed key. I asked to speak with a manager, but none were on site. Vicky claimed that the manager, Sonya, supported how the situation was handled. The lack of empathy and unwillingness to work with us, especially under circumstances beyond our control, was extremely disappointing. read more

The HVAC in my room would not turn on when I arrived. The maintenance man tried to tell me 'some people like it warm' and I 'don't know how to use it." The bathroom floor was so sticky I had to put towels down. Bathroom sink clogged. Showerhead broken. No hot water at 630 AM. Unfortunately this quality is becoming the standard of Marriott properties. read more

This hotel is okay. I stayed here for a business trip and though the carpet and furniture is updated other aspects are dated. Staff was nice but dealing with some unhappy customers upon arrival. On first impression, this was a really nice hotel, but after waking up the next morning, as I was just about to step in the shower, I found mold on the shower curtain which is completely unacceptable!! I immediately called down to the front desk and asked them to bring me a new shower curtain, and proceeded to take the one covered in mold off the hooks. I didn't make a big deal because I had to leave but 9 am, so I carried on with the day. While taking the shower, the water would not drain, which is a major pet peeve of mine, but I didn't share this feedback as a result of the mold from the shower curtain. To fast forward, when I returned to the hotel at about 12:30 am, I walked into my room and the moldy shower curtain was still laying on my floor, and the room had not been picked up. I was exhausted, and quite frankly, furious! So much for ending the night in peace. I immediately went down to the front desk and explained my dilemma. The young lady was extremely professional and kind, especially after I raised my voice at her, which I truly didn't intend to do. She handled herself exceptionally well, and offered to switch my room. After moving to a new room (which was still an inconvenience), I experienced no additional problems. The MAJOR concern that I have though, is the true lack of care management has for their hotel guests. The young lady at the front desk told me her manager didn't come in until 3 pm the next day, and she would call me. Welp, it's been 3 days, and I was never contacted. This is unacceptable in every way, and for this reason, I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. I typically choose Marriott whenever I travel, so I can truly say, this is the only Marriott hotel I've ever felt true dissatisfaction with my stay. read more

Shawn and Tiffany were great help to us. Location was good for where we needed to be. Room was clean. King room is what we got as I had to have a work space. There was a desk and plenty of plug ins for my computer- monitor etc.. breakfast was good, normal fare, eggs, sausage- cereals- oatmeal.. standard breakfast stuff. We had our small dog with us and we're very happy that the room we had was such that you would never have known there was ever another dog in it. It was clean and did not smell like dog. Lots of grass areas around the hotel for walking the dog. Bed was not the most comfortable thing, but wasn't God awful either. read more

Needed a spot to catch a few zzz on a long road trip. Easy to book through the app, easy to access from the interstate, clean and quiet. Breakfast was available promptly at 6 and was just what I needed to start another day of driving. Unfortunately, we were given a room right by the elevator, which is not ideal. I understand that someone has to stay there but we checked in pretty early in the afternoon so I was disappointed that we were assigned it. We had asked for a room on a high floor, got assigned Floor 2 (there are 4). The room wasn't the cleanest when we arrived. Both beds had stains on the bed linens so we decided to just remove the sheet from the cleaner one. There was hair left in the bathroom and a black spot in the toilet (still praying it wasn't number 2). I always bring disinfecting wipes with me to a hotel, thankfully, so I was able to take care of everything. The room was a very generous size but you could hear everything outside the room. Because of the proximity to the elevator, I could hear the mechanical whirring of it all day and night. The shower was amazing! High pressure and hot! Loved it. Bed was fine in terms of comfort. Breakfast is offered but it wasn't great. Location also not great but not the worst. read more

If you like the AC and heating system as load a washing machine, this is the place to be. The breakfast is "ok" but nothing exceptional. Blankets and carpets are old and not good quality. The people on the other hand is really nice and welcoming. They also have happy hour with glass or wine or beer at night. Which makes up a little bit of the stay. read more

"Springhill Suites by Marriott-Solon, Ohio" is a clean, comfortable, inoffensive, but otherwise undistinguished member of the Marriott Springhill Suites chain. It is situated behind a sandwich shop in a sprawling, under-populated office park in the western section of Solon, Ohio, itself a cookie cutter southeastern suburb of Cleveland Ohio. It has no distinguishing features, no view, and is not close to anything. The pool has way too much chlorine. There is no patio or any outdoor common space. On the bright side, the beds are firm and comfortable, the lobby and the rooms are well lit, there's plenty of hot water and the water pressure is good. Most important, the hotel provides Free Beer every work day been 5:30 and 7:30 PM. That alone is worth three stars. Solon itself has nothing to recommend it, though I suppose it's a great place to raise a family. read more

Checked in on Friday 10/11 for 2 nights. Ended up leaving after 1st night. 1st room had ants. They moved us to another room. When I pulled the covers back on one of the beds the sheet and comforter were both stained. Called the front desk and they sent housekeeping up to change them. No apology from management. Ordered food delivered via Postmates. It arrived around 11:30 PM. Popped it in microwave to heat it up...microwave didn't work. Had to call front desk again. Maintenance came and "fixed" it by shimmying the door. After that you either had to slam the door or push up on the top to get it to work. Again no one from management bothered to call or come by the next morning. Also, if you have young children with you, beware...the windows open all the way and our screen was barely hanging in there. Had my 3 year old grandson with us so couldn't open the window for fear he'd fall to his death. This hotel has NO business bearing the Marriott name. It is dated and unclean. read more

Just stayed here recently for business and it was in the middle of a horrible storm. After a hideous drive from Akron Airport, i just really wanted to downshift and relax. Great Welcome and Clean room. Not one of the more recently updated Springhill Suites, and can't wait for it to get a make over.. Still have the big ol TV's and the internet isn't the best for business... but they have it if you need it, and it doesn't cost you any extra ( which is nice). I am preferred, but they really don't treat you any different at this one ( at some they give me a free beverage, and a higher room).... but this one really doesn't have any great views no matter how high your floor is... so I guess it doesn't matter.... However, I must say, the pool is bigger than most, and the hot tub is great. I went for a swim in the indoor heated(perfectly) pool... and watched the snow out of the big windows along the side of the pool area. I swam every day and then relaxed in the hot tub as well. It was nice, and smart to have an indoor heated pool in a place like OHIO... Thanks!! The parking is ok in the summer/spring/fall months... but there is NO parking close enough to a door in 20 degree snow flying everywhere weather..... They do have the standard free breakfast.. and they mini convenience store for you late night snacking... there is a soup shop and a sub shop both pretty close to the hotel ( within walking distance on a NICE day).... read more

Very rude white woman at counter when I ask how much for one night and she was like its $131 and the nice black girl was like it might be more like $141 and then I said I only have a $80 limit for my company, and the white lady said oh ya this won't work out for you here, and at least the black girl was like there's another hotel that is like $55 and she even wanted to give me directions and the white girl was like she was better than anyone around her... Very snobby, but a rip off for a hotel that does not have any attractions or events anywhere around for $141 a nite when in downtown Chicago you have a much better view of the high rises and lake and much much excitement for $120 a nite, you guys are really giving your guest the shaft huh??? You guys figured if company employees are the only ones going to your hotel and there company is paying for not anyways, why not screw them over for $141 a night when there's nothing but corn fields and other companies around and NO attractions or exciting views at all If I was a billionaire wouldn't give you one dollar stay there because of that white girl she needs a sheep up her attitude towards people read more

Excellent staff and excellent rooms. I come to The area a few times a month and try to stay here every time. The last few times I stayed at Fairfield Inn in Beachwood because it was a lot cheaper.. I get what I pay for. Fairfield was awful with rude staff and something is always broke. I don't know why Springhill suites prices have recently increased, but I am probably switching back. My 7-year old loves it there much better and so do I. read more

I had a small get together and the hotel called the cops and we got thrown out with no refund and actually had to pay couple hundred bucks, AND NOTHING WAS DIRTY OR BROKEN!!! rented a block of rooms at this hotel for my recent wedding. DO NOT DO THIS!!! The sales manager was very easy to deal with, but there were major problems. The morning of the wedding i called to confirm the 5 rooms my husband and i had rented for ourselves and wedding party. Everything was fine. My bridesmaids checked no problem. Then after the ceremony our groomsmen tried to check in and they were told that they had to pay full price because my credit card wasn't authorized to pay. The worman who dealt with them (Octavia) was very rude and the assistant manager. My mother-in-law had arranged for shuttle from the hotel to the reception, our groomsen asked them to wait, and the shuttle left them. They were almost late for the reception!! What the hotel failed to tell my mother in law was that they only had one shuttle; that fit 12 people, and this shuttle was incharge of 2 weddings. My father in law didn't get back to the hotel until an hour and half after the recpetion was over. The night clerk was very nice, though there by herself, so when the other wedding went crazy she could do little. In the morning when were checking out the assistant manager asked us how it was. when we brought up the problem it was revealed that she was the person who gave my groomsmen such a hard time, and wasn't very apologetic. They young lady said YES!! after driving over 8hrs, I arrived at the hotel and they said I needed I credit card and would not accept cash. every hotel around was sold out cause of conventions which I was there for one as well. ended up sleeping in my SUV for the night.
