I recently stayed here due to work and the snow storm. Making the reservation online was easy, and I had to call back and received friendly service on the phone. There is a garage for parking, but there is also plenty of outdoor parking. The second floor has the guest check in, breakfast area, and bar. My room was exceptionally large with 2 queen beds, and was very comfortable and accommodating. Overall the hotel was very fulfilling and my stay was great. read more

This is our 3rd hotel on our drive home. The suite was beautiful and had a nice walk-in closet. Overall the room was clean but the shower curtain had pink mold on it and the tub didn't look clean. I was disappointed because the hotel is new and was the nicest looking room out of the 3 hotels we stayed at. Parking was free and they have a covered garage. Breakfast was the usual bacon, eggs, bagels, cereal, yogurt, etc. Front desk staff were polite but not friendly. read more

Upon arriving, we were surprised to find nothing on the first level. You literally had to go to the 2nd floor to find the front desk. So every time we came in after that, we just went to our floor. I am used to entering a hotel and seeing a friendly face. This seemed more like an apt. complex. Also, there was hardly any toilet paper in our room upon check in so the next morning I had to hunt down housekeeping. They were put off but me asking for toilet paper. The room was decent in terms of being clean. The air conditioner made horrible humming noises, interrupting my sleep. The wifi stinks. The bathroom door also didn't stay closed, which for some people might be a problem. read more

This hotel had all the right pieces but they just couldn't put the puzzle together. This was our first hotel stay of our summer vacation, traveling from Charleston to Orlando. It wasn't the worst hotel we stayed at, but it took honorable mentions in all of the salient categories. Beds: my bed was broken inside; like, the springs were crushed by some giant human, or someone's kids jumping on the bed. Woke up with a back ache each morning. A/C: the air conditioning fought valiantly against the Charleston heat, but lost the battle. The room was stuffy at best. TV: small flatscreen poorly placed in the room so neither bed-dwellers or couch-sitters could enjoy it. The remote didn't work; we called the desk and were asked to "bring it down" since she was the only one working in the whole hotel. The second remote didn't work either, so this was an utter failure. Bathroom/shower: clean and nice. Saved this from being a one star debacle. Room smell: musty. Probably related to that struggling A/C. Other things that could use a little polish: A. laundry facilities were out of order. This became a theme of all our Marriott hotel stays.... B. Smallest hotel pool in the history of hotel pools. C. Hotel lobby on second floor means you're taking that elevator whether you like it or not.... And that elevator was making some serious squeaky belts and metal fatigue sounds on every run. D. This hotel seems to be suffering from the post pandemic reality that "nobody works anymore." Seem to be really short staffed. The gal behind the desk was nice enough, but she was all by her lonesome, which meant if you wanted anything, it wasn't coming up to your room, you were going down to get it. And even then, that was hit or miss. One bright spot: the breakfast staff lady was very kind to the kids, and the food was a step up from the usual free breakfast fare. We had a nice time in Charleston, but not sure I would stay here again. Marriott worked hard this summer to fall out of our regular vacation and business rotation. read more

I loved the look of the place, including how big and modern our room was. But when we discovered details, we were disappointed. Stains on the couch and on the floor by the door made the place look dirty. One of the windows was smeared instead of cleaned and the view out the window was horrible because it was so dirty. The drain in the bathroom was stuck and the sink drained very slowly. At breakfast the eggs were from powdered eggs, and the potatoes were good but they were mixed with cheap sausage. Hot water for tea was from a smaller thermos and when there wasn't enough for both of us we asked the young man tending bar to please get us more, and he said no! Hands down the nicest, cleanest, most comfortable hotel we've ever stayed at! Our room was luxurious, with a calming decor. The beds were VERY comfortable (some sort of memory foam mattresses?) - a welcome rest after a long, long day of travel. Room was quiet and easy to relax. The breakfast buffet the next morning did not disappoint either. What a spread! Hot scrambled eggs and summer sausages at the ready, a full cereal bar with cold cereals and hot oatmeal and grits on tap, coffee bar, bagels and muffins galore, a cooler with yogurt and all kinds of milk, three kinds of juice on tap, a waffle maker - all just as clean and organized as our room. If you went away from this hungry, it was your own fault! And the tables look out onto a beautiful balcony as you're enjoying your breakfast feast. Our only regret was having to leave after only one night, due to our schedule. Would have loved to have stayed longer at this beautiful hotel and explored Charleston more. I am really glad our meeting planners had us book here. Kudos to them!!! The hotel is clean and the rooms spacious! They offer free breakfast, wi-fi, gym, outdoor pool and you do not get charged extra for parking! Other amenities include a mini fridge, microwave, coffee machine and a walk in closet. The room temperature can be regulated by the control on the wall! The two ladies at the breakfast area who make sure the breakfast area runs smoothly are friendly and truly very nice! Breakfast is the run-of-the-mill items but at least it is for free and satisfying. We met one of the ladies outside on her way home after her shift and she told us about the memorial waterpark under the bridge and how to get there! It was so kind of her to tell us even on her time off! The lobby is on the second floor. To check-in, you have to go up. The location is very convenient and there are some really great parks and nature nearby and some within walking distance. Lots of beautiful birds are in the surroundings! Several months ago I survived a horrific fire in my apartment. The fire actually originated in the apartment above me and I awoke to crashing burning floorboards falling from the sky as I opened the door to my porch slider. While we lost a lot, we all got out safely, even my tiny canine best friend, Mollie. Once the ashes settled that Sunday afternoon, it was apparent that we would need someplace to live until we figured out what to do. Thank goodness for renter's insurance, The Red Cross, family and friends. With my insurance company's help I found myself across the street at Springhill Suites. From the very first moment that I walked into the lobby I was treated with a warm and welcoming reception, even Mollie. This was obviously a stressful time with lots of questions and problems to solve. I was so pleasantly surprised that lodging was not one of them. We were given a beautiful mini suite. The decor was modern and fresh with giant panels of frosted glass enclosing the bathroom. The linens were bright soft white cottons with a splash of color accents. This location was only built about a year ago, so everything was shiny and brand new. No matter what time of day or night, the staff was always anxious to help. After the initial shock wore off a couple days later, it was time to go back to work. The daily housekeeping service was available when we needed them, but they left us alone when we declined. Quickly I was spoiled to find before work a hot breakfast waiting for me in the lobby. There was always a variety of fresh coffees, juices, eggs, sausage, waffles to make, cereals, fresh fruit, bagels and pastries. I felt so spoiled, and it was very clear that after a couple weeks of this pampering I would miss this lobby. The furnishings made it feel so comfortable and homey. There was even a giant interactive screen in the lobby with a paint art program that my granddaughter enjoyed when she came to visit. There was also a small business center off the lobby for the guests' convenience with laptops and a printer/copier. Laundry services were available and conveniently located on our floor. Coming home to an elevator and staring out over top the beautiful Ravenel bridge was quite unusual, but I can't think of a more convenient home away from home during those weeks of trying to put our lives back together. I quickly realized that being so close to home would shorten my day with all the meetings with the insurance people and managing the endless hours or sorting through the soot and grime after the fire to salvage what we could and discard what we couldn't. I certainly wouldn't wish this nightmare on anyone, I can not stress how instrumental Springhill was in making the entire process bearable. Every person I encountered from housekeeping to security and front desk staff went out of their way and over and above the call of duty to be sure that we felt cared for and at home. I deeply appreciate their kindness and all their efforts in getting us through this process and back to a normal home. Sincere thanks! read more

I stayed at SpringHill Suits Mount Pleasant, Charleston for 2 nights (Sep 16 - 18, 2022). I was surprised that when I returned to my room at 10 PM on Sep 17 my room was not cleaned and made up after my first night. When I went to the front desk I was told that the rooms are not made up " because we have a skeleton crew in the weekend". I was offered new towels but I had to stay another night in an uncleaned room. I was charged $207 and 215 for a total of $481 for my stay and expected some service. The manager responded to my complaint that they are short of staff because of COVID. This is an excuse for not providing service and saving on paying the employees. The pandemic is long over. Another upsetting issue was that the hotel operator refused to connect outside callers who tried to contact me because they did not have my hotel room number. This is an unprofessional attitude that prevented people to reach me through my stay. I have never encountered such in appropriate treatment of guests in the hundreds of times I stayed in a Marriott Chain hotel. read more

I hesitated booking here because of the poor service reviews from other Yelpers. However, I have a specific plan/budget & decided to send it. So instead of booking via Marriott Bonvoy app w/ my status as an account holder--I went in person. Disclaimer: I am "clinically" OCD & painstakingly meticulous w/ life & especially hotels because of the price I pay to just rest my head. & this is NOT a paid Yelp review. I was greeted by a female by the name of "Legend". Her service was above and beyond the calling & genuine. It was *because of her service* that I decided to stay instead of spending the few extra to book at a Courtyard or Residence (that's only the highest Charlotte Marriotts offer). The rooms are clean! OCD approved! Also--I am reasonable. It's not a 5 diamond hotel. But it met and exceeded my expectation. It started with Legend's service & it elevated once I met the housekeeper. Her genuine smile & greet in the hallway just a "cherry on top". Highly highly recommend. Walk in closet & large bathroom. The building is 2 years old. & the service is classic old school. Disclaimer: this is my first time at a SpringHill I typically stay in embassy suites although this hotel was the perfect location for an event I was attending. Property: it's a clean property and you can certainly tell it is new. The room was a no frills kind of room but the bed and accommodations were perfectly fine. The only real issues I had with the room was the sliding bathroom door wouldn't stay closed and there's no latch to hold it shut or lock it which negates any form of privacy while in there. Also there's no safe in the rooms which is cumbersome if you have valuables. The bar is "under construction" and there really isn't anything within walking distance nearby. Truthfully it wasn't worth the nightly rate they were charging. Staff: wow what can I say...they leave something to be desired. I can only assume the disconnect is from the top down because it's nearly impossible for your entire team to be rude and disconnected. Anytime I interacted with a staff member they made me feel like I was putting them out. I also think it's of poor taste that the person working the front desk (your first impression of the property" is hiding in this closet behind the counter and you either wait for them to finish texting or you walk back there like I had to do because he simply wasn't paying attention or was hoping I would go away if he wouldn't look. The breakfast staff were complaining quite loudly that someone accidentally spilled water on the floor and I guess they were less than pleased to have to clean it up. If this customer service or lack of continues it will be the fail of this hotel unless someone's steps in and corrects this issue. Breakfast: cold and limited. No coffee apparently when the items runs out that's it. No hot water for the hot chocolate. If a particular food runs out....that's it. The general manager sign by the front desk doesn't have a name on it so I'm wondering if they are currently lacking management and that's the reasoning behind their negligence at this property. In closing I really have no desire to stay at this property again and would suggest potential customers to look elsewhere as well. read more

I'm surprised by the poor reviews. I stayed here for a night a few days ago and had a nice time. The staff were quick to help when booking my room and when we arrived. Our room was clean and spacious. Our A/C worked well. I didn't try the breakfast or coffee, but since it's free, I wouldn't expect it to be amazing. The location is literary right across the bridge we were in downtown Charleston in 10 minutes. This hotel isn't anything fancy, but it fit the bill and I would book here again. The only odd thing is you have to park then take the garage elevator to the 2nd floor to get to the lobby. This could be a little confusing if you arrive late at night. read more

We completely agree with Jacko, AC is very bad, had it set low, but still very humid. Called about early check in was told 1300, get there at 1330, "we were full last night, we don't have anything ready" "I don't recall telling you that........Be honest, we could have waited......... Place is mediocre. We asked to leave early due to an unforeseen death in the family they consented which was nice. Then upon leaving they accused us of smoking and presumed to charge $100 just to get their money back. Shady business. I am a lung physician and my wife is a nurse. We've seen countless people die from smoking would never think of doing such. This is just shallow and pathetic. Do not stay here. Ps we had our two small children. Since it looked empty I was very surprised. There is a 10..00 per room per night up charge for a bridge view . If I had known about that upfront it probably would have made me look elsewhere. Terrible experience one of my worst ones yet. As a high status member in Marriott Bonvoy I decided to stay in this hotel for the night just to rest on a road trip. After being extremely exhausted from a long journey we were greeted with some of the worst customer service out there then proceeding to finding stains all over the carpet and sofa with dirty sheets and towels. Went back to the lobby to see if we could manage to get a clean room and the guy working there basically said "too bad take it or leave it" this left me extremely unsatisfied as it was late at night and I didn't have time to find a different hotel. I went back to my dirty room to spend the night with kids complaining due to the extremely unsanitary room and called customer service to see what they could do about it and as I was talking to them they just hang up and never called back. Unsure If I will ever stay at a Marriot hotel again, in my last few stays Hilton has treated me in much better ways. read more

Talked to the desk three times and they no made effort to clear it up. One answer was I can't fix it, one was we don't have that, one answer was I don't know how to fix that. Loved my stay here. Bed was solid and comfy and one of the pillow options offered was better than my own at home! Room was spacious and modern but that didn't take from the comfort. Very clean and the breakfast is quite good, if typical of hotel food. My only gripe is the hot water container on the coffee bar needs to be bigger. Went to it often and half the time it was severely low or empty. Not enough to dock a star though. Rooms have mini fridge, microwave and the hotel is perfectly located to explore the Charleston area. Overall, it's average hotel. I have stayed at many Marriotts, other Springhill Suites, and this was probably the most disappointing stay I've had. The room was clean however we noticed immediately the bathroom was not the same as pictured on the website. Our room had a tub shower with a curtain that barely shut all the way while we were expecting a nice walk in shower with a glass door as pictured. We turned the AC down (to 68 degrees) and the AC unit would loudly turn on and off every 15 minutes, and the toilet ran after being flushed for at least 5 minutes. During our stay, we never had housekeeping services and we actually ran out of toilet paper. When I called the front desk, I was told to come down to the desk and then hung up on. When I got down to the lobby, the woman at the front desk was on her phone and only looked up to point at the toilet paper on the counter, and literally did not say a word to me. The complimentary breakfast was also below average. The eggs were a jello texture and swimming in liquid and the bread/muffins/bagel area was practically bare. This hotel is clean and fairly new. The rooms are fine but nothing fancy. The problem is with the hotel staff. I called down to ask about breakfast and asked where it was located. The clerk on February 16, 2022 acted like I was an idiot for not knowing.I didn't know that it was in the lobby. It wasn't visible when we signed in and we weren't told about it. On the next day I needed to iron my shirt for a business meeting. The last person to use it scorched the iron making it unusable on a clean white shirt. I called down to the desk and talked to the same girl to ask if they could send up a new iron. She said if I came down she would see what I she could find. I did that and when I got there I found a broken iron that was also scorched but not as bad. She said that's all they had. I commented as I turned around and walked away that that was unacceptable. This girl soon appeared at my room with a brand new iron which I was very happy about, Until she said they had to go to a different property to get a new iron for me. I said thank you very much. Then she followed up by saying I don't appreciate your extreme rudeness at the front desk. She said I yelled as I walked away. And I said I didn't think I that I was rude to her at all. I simply made my dissatisfaction known as I walked away there was no yelling involved. I told her I believed she was in the wrong business. After I closed the door she continued yelling at me through the door that I needed to change my personality. That may be true, however not much I can do about that. I don't think that I asked too much of the hotel. I was probably somewhat demanding but never rude. The young lady has no business in a Customer Service role. Disappointing. read more

Everyone was Shannon,Donna, front desk staff in the morning, cleaning services etc. The hotel is pristine and smells fresh everywhere you go. The staff is extremely concerned , pleasant and even remember us from previous visits. We are request guests since our son goes to College of Charleston. This visit was unexpected due to a 3 alarm house fire in historic Charleston which destroyed a 205 year old home, and damaged the portion my son occupies. Your staff has been so curious in helping us from extra blankets to allowing us early/ late check outs which turned into another extended day due to waiting on the insurance adjuster and trying to find a new home. As a former Delta flight attendant for 25 years....I have never had a hotel staff this incredible and a hotel chain that keeps a property so pristine! I have had the pleasure of staying at this hotel almost weekly since they opened in April of 2016. While it is true that "new" can sometimes = kinks, this property had shined through and continues to impress me. I had my toddler daughter with me for multiple nights throughout the summer and it is never easy to travel with a little one. Each member of the staff here went out of their way to assure our stay was comfortable and complete. They accommodated every request I ever made. And the assistant general manager even gave me her card and encouraged me to contact her directly anytime we'd be in town. I took her up on that offer many times and she and her team always rose to every challenge. So, I called ahead prior to making my reservations to make sure the pool was open as I was traveling with 3 grandchildren and wanted them to be able to swim. Unfortunately when we got there - the pool was indeed open however the heater was broken which they "forgot" to mention. Then when we went out for the day - we asked if we could leave our carrier in the front entryway until we got back (roof rack bag for our strollers). They were very nice and allowed us to do so, however when we returned the carrier was gone and we were told there are no cameras looking at the doorway entry way. I was NOT very impressed with this trip / stay - I will say though that the people we did speak with were all very nice and courteous - just simply zero resolution to any of our issues and for the price we spent to stay in a place where we were to be stolen from I can honestly say I will never go back and I would never recommend it to anyone. read more
