When you check in there is lemon water on the reception desk. If you're lucky you'll also get hot fresh baked chocolate chip cookies. The check in went smoothly using a corporate card on file. They even asked us in the first floor was ok or if we'd prefer a higher floor. We took the first floor room. The room is quiet. You can't hear the ice machine, elevator, or freeway. Soon as you walk in the room in-front of you is the bar area. Equipped with a microwave, fridge, coffee maker, picnic ware(Paper plates and silverware), and a bar sink. To the right is the sitting area. The sitting area includes a table you can set your laptop on and work front the couch. Across from the couch is the desk, desk chair, desk lamp with outlets for your computer and monitor. Across from the desk is the dresser and TV. The tv comes equipped with Youtube and Netflix. You just have to put your account information in. Behind the half wall is the bedroom. King size bed, 2 nightstands with outlets on each, closet. It's missing the luggage rack to store your luggage on. Across from the bed is the bathroom. The vanity area is separate from the tub/shower combo and toilet. They have a gym on premises. It includes 2 treadmills and an elliptical machine. No free weights or other equipment. It's better than nothing. They also have a heated indoor pool and an outdoor spa. Both include mobility chairs to lift you in and out of the water. The indoor pool room has towels meant to be used at the pool and an outdoor shower. The bathrooms are right outside the pool and gym area. Thy have a business center in the lobby with a computer printer and free copies of USA Today. This is possibly my 4th visit over the last year as I travel from Guerneville to Joshua Tree. The hotel is perfectly comfortable and accommodating, serving breakfast until 9 and alkalized water free in the lobby all day. I've been there as late as noon and you can still grab fresh coffee in the lobby. The lobby is spacious, easy for working or just chilling. I haven't made it to the pool and it looks sweet! The staff are always friendly. It was cool to see the same staff person on two visits that were a year apart. My rooms have all been comfortable and spacious, and very clean of course. Restaurants are nearby. My favorites include grass fed beef, GF buns, and/or any organic salads. read more

Visited Bakersfield on a business trip and stayed here for one night. The location was very convenient, close to freeway, Starbucks, and Costco. The front desk was friendly and checked me in very quickly. The room was clean and comfortable. My only complaints would be -1) the fitness room was very minimal with only 3-pieces of equipment. 2) The TV in the room was very small, probably around ~30" give or take. read more

So coming home from San Diego, I was determined not to stay at the Residence Inn in Bakersfield because of the drag racing and the inability to monitor your own room temperature. This time around I stayed at Springhill Suites. I got in rather late at night but the front desk host named Steven was so kind and so helpful. I felt really happy that I landed there. I was having a hard time finding parking and he said he would open the back door so that I could easily park in the back but have a short walk to the elevator so I did that. Before I left him, he handed me a little gift bag that had water and cookies in it, which I thought was so sweet. The security guard that was on duty in the parking lot was also very kind and helpful. Right when I parked my car, he walked up and asked if I had seen a fast car go by and if I needed help. He was really very nice. When I got up to my room, it was definitely not as nice as a Residence Inn, but it was good enough. There was a tiny kitchen and a tiny living room and a tiny bathroom and tiny beds. I was so tired. I got to bed very quickly, but unfortunately, the walls were very paper thin and I could hear the neighbors talking until almost 1 o'clock in the morning! It was not that they were being super loud. It's just the walls were thin and they kept talking! I couldn't believe they weren't gonna go to sleep! I called downstairs to Steven and told him what was happening and he quickly arranged for me to move to a different room on the same floor. He came up himself to bring me to the other room and then the security guard came up to switch the keys. I was just so grateful to them for doing that! The best part about it was that the new room was so nice and quiet and I got to sleep. The next morning, I did not make it to breakfast because I never get up early enough for that but they had coffee and half-and-half available, which was fantastic. The team member that was working in the morning was at the front desk in the morning was a woman who was also just so friendly and nice. I wanted to make sure to find out Steven's name and I told her how wonderful he was. I would say it's a good place to stay if you're a sound sleeper and you don't mind thin walls because the people that work there are incredible! read more

We were not impressed with this property. Our room was an odd shaped room . Dark 'kitchen' area and microwave so high , and me being 4'10" could barely reach it . Towels felt like they have seen better days . Whole place did not feel clean at all . My husband is platinum level and we expect better. The hot food at breakfast were not Hot and bacon was cold and hard and didn't taste like bacon ! Refills for most things were slow . When we checked in, we got a brown bag of two small waters and one granola bar . Seriously ? We had just spent a week at another Marriott property which put this one to shame all around . Great stay. Welcomed to some warm cookies and lemon water. We also received some coloring sheets and crayons for our little kiddos. At night, we swam in the indoor pool. Also, there are a lot of food options nearby as well. The sleep was ok. I slept fine, but my husband said he's had better sleep. Enjoyed the morning breakfast. Took advantage of the waffle machine for the kiddos. The food offerings were all very tasty. This was an overnight stay as part of a longer roadtrip. Perfectly lovely SpringHill Suites here in Bakersfield! I was just in town for two days, so quick trip. Room was clean, nice shower, cozy bed, refrigerator worked. Lobby clean and spacious. Friendly front desk and breakfast staff. Got a yummy bowl of oatmeal with fab toppings. I didn't get the chance to swim but the indoor pool looked nice. Pretty standard size for a SpringHill, not big but looked clean and comfortable. I'll definitely go for a swim when I return. read more

Found out that, after the cleaning lady banged on my door, shouting GET OUT!, while my husband was on call with front desk, Arlissa front desk took upon herself to add late check-out to only 1 room. Arrived late on a stop overnight as part of a longer trip. Was greeted by a lovely and enthusiastic employee at checkin. Was very helpful with information about locale and places to eat in the morning. Room was clean, comfortable with good climate control and comfortable bed. Good sitting area in room as well. Lots of choices for dining within one mile from a Hunters Steak House to Marie Callendars, Black Bear Diner and ever fast food place you could imagine. Very mediocre for a Marriott hotel property. The room seems very dated and the furniture is old. A very small TV (only 32") and you can't get captions or subtitles. The breakfast was sub-par compared to other places like Holiday Express or Hampton Inn. There is one thing that is outstanding: the property is somewhat far from the 99 freeway so there is almost zero road noise. However, if you need air conditioning the unit is very old and loud. We probably won't stay here again in Bakersfield, and will stay at one of the competition mentioned above! read more

As long as Springhill Suites by Marriott is comfortable and clean, we may keep coming back as Marriott Bonvoy members to cash in on free hotel night stays. This one is not the newest building compared to other ones we've stayed at. We don't stay at this place long enough though. We usually end up choosing other new Marriott locations. This place is very convenient to restaurants and gas stations. Very easy parking and easy access within distance to highways/freeways. Fully stocked with towels and Paul Mitchell bathroom items. Yes, comfortable night stays, but there are always loud truckers, groups, and heavy foot traffic up and down the elevators. Popular site. It attracts many out of towners for sure. Includes mini refrigerator, sink, coffee maker, microwave, etc. Comfortable desk area and couch area for watching television. Standard Springhill Suites layout. Prices can be great if you can find the promotion on dates you desire. We like that it's close to restaurants and easy to get back onto busy roads. Staffs were friendly. Great stop for a night or two. It's usually the cleanliness, comfortable pillows and bedsheets that make the experiences even better. Other than busy foot traffic, it's not too bad here. read more

Visiting family and needed a quick place to rest for the night. Thought we were safe booking because of the name but man I was wrong. First off our room Smelled so bad! Like moldy old water in the carpet or something. It was super musty. The shower was warm not hot. The walls were crazy thin. We were on the first floor and could easily hear the people walking above is. Also we were near the lobby and at 6 am was woken by all the noise from the staff preparing breakfast. The bed had no support and seemed like it would just sink to the floor. The tv was sooooo small it was crazy. Like maybe 32 in. Def an outdated place. I wouldn't stay here again there are many other hotels nearby I will def choose one of them next time. Only plus was that parking was safe and they had a decent morning breakfast. read more

5 star rating is not saying it's a 5 star hotel. It's 5 star for the level of hotel it is. Rooms are standard. Comfy bed. Complimentary breakfast was pretty good. They served croissant, egg, ham sandwiches that my daughter liked a lot. They had a jalapeño soufflé that looked pretty good. I mention these because they are pretty unique menu items for a chain hotel. I mostly wanted to post because Griselda was the breakfast lady that went above and beyond. She offered to turn off the fireplace and tv for me because I was trying to help my daughter do her homework, and the tv was distracting us. We usually stay at the Fairfield that shares the same parking lot as Hungry Hunter. I made the reservations at 5:30am online via a wonky cell connection and goofed. Imagine how silly I felt when the clerk at Fairfield told me that I had no reservations. When I looked at my phone confirmation, I realized the error of my ways. The clerk couldn't help us because although both properties are Marriott affiliated, one is a franchise while the other is corporate. So we trudged off to our hotel three blocks away. No big deal but it took away the convenience of being able to walk next door to the Hunter for dinner and back. We had three rooms and all were ready. They had put us close together on the same floor even though we had two different types of rooms. The rooms were clean, air conditioners worked, and beds comfortable. There was a decent breakfast served from 7 to 10am. The kids had a fun time in the indoor swimming pool and everyone got a good nights sleep in preparation for the drive home. This will be our back-up hotel if the Fairfield doesn't have room for us in the future. read more

I stayed here for two weeks and absolutely loved it! The room was very clean and the bed/pillows super comfortable. The only thing I was not too happy about was the fact that during my stay, there were a couple of times when the room next to me was booked by families with small children. Nothing wrong with that, except for they were yelling and jumping on the bed, banging on the wall etc.. And I had to be at work early morning. This is not the hotels fault and I did not complain so.. how would they know, right? The front desk ladies were all very nice. I would definitely stay here again! p.s. Maybe add other items to the breakfast? I was here for two weeks and food was the same every other day. Accommodations awesome. This is my pit stop between Northern and Southern California ( whivh is usually a 6-7 hour drive total. Rooms are nice, comfy , beds, linens, pillows are soft. Easy access to freeway and all things, especially if you need anything from the area. In the a.m. there is a huge spread of complimentary breakfast ( eggs, sausage, waffles, oatmeal, yogurts, fresh fruit, teas and coffee. Staff was very helpful in getting me a last minute booking. This was the right choice after spending the day at the theme park and deciding to pass on the drive back to instead get a restful night sleep. I will be back in a few months and this will be my GO TO Place! read more

While driving from Sacramento to Los Angeles we decided to stop for the night in Fresno. Even the dirtiest hotels were charging $135 a night. We saw that this hotel in Bakersfield was only a little more and had way better reviews. We drove the extra distance and were glad we did! Looks can be deceiving so don't let these picture do any justice, I hope I can give my readers my experience so that way my readers don't have to experience what I had to experience, base on the pictures when booking this was nice and great but when I received my room I was kind of shock, the tv was really small 32" you can tell this was a big bank take little bank and marriot took over and did the minimal rehab to the units, it really look dingy, I was pretty discussed by the head board, and the beds and pull out bed were decompress to a point that you can feel the springs very lumpy and just a word of advice try and stay away from the laundry room and exit stairwell I couldn't sleep for $h@! Doors opening and slamming you can see the door gaps around the entry door it's almost like having your door open, as a longtime customer of marriort I thought marriort had a image to uphold and this place didn't reflect that at all to higher standard that I thought marriort had. If your reading this so far stay at your own risk and don't say I didn't warn you, my suggestion is to try marriort Fairfield inn next to hungry hunter hope this helps. read more

The desk clerk was nice at check in. My room was nice...it was an ADA accessible room. The bed was comfy. The bathroom was huge. When I took a shower the first day, the shower head hardly worked. I left a note for housekeeping/maintenance and on the second day, I had a whole new shower head. Yay! The only thing that was disappointing was the thin walls. I found a dead cockroach in my room I stepped on it with my bare feet. I will notify the front desk before I leave. See image below of the roach. Also there is a huge space under the door that is open so of course bugs can get inside the room very easily. read more

I was hesitant about going to a hotel during a pandemic, I think I was even more hesitant about going to a hotel in Bakersfield but I was relieved to see such clean rooms and friendly staff. Alex was the girl in the front who greeted us. She had on a mask and there is a barrier in between. She was very accommodating. We stayed here in our way to LA. The hotel looks ok from the outside but the room is old. It was a very disappointing room. The worst part was when we opened the sofa bed, there was a dirty sock, hanger, and change. The front desk didn't want to help in any way to clean it up. Once again, here is a 10 Star Review. I love this place and it is my "Go to" hotel when in town. The staff are very friendly and get to know there regular guests like family. My room is ALWAYS clean. With their new Shampoo, Conditioner, and Body Lotion Pumps that are in the shower, I don't have to worry about traveling with those items. Plenty of food each morning with their FREE full breakfast buffet. There's also an Indoor Pool and Exercise Room. Outdoors is a gated area with a private jacuzzi. They have a couple computers hooked up for anyone needing a business center. Get yourself a Lollipop or a Warm Cookie when you check in and tell them that "Doc" sent you. They'll get it. when i first arrived, i loved the rooms and the stuff they had to offer BUT, staff was rude and unprofessional.. we were staying for one night and got many noise complaints about my daughters laughing (5 & 3). after the first call we made sure they were quiet to respect the neighbors and moved to the lobby so they could enjoy their games without infuriating others and the front desk woman tells me, "ma'am, can you guys be quiet i'm trying to make a reservation and i can't hear anything with all of these loud noises" ‍. she continued to stare at us and put on angry faces but they're children!! we decided to later move next door to the Hilton Garden Inn and ended up so much happier because many people are gladly enjoying their stay there with no complaints from staff. read more

We stopped here over a weekend. From the beginning to end it was a nice place. I used my mobile app for Marriott Hotels and we had originally been confirmed in my email that the rooms would be ready at 3pm. However my mobile app notified me that at 11:30am the room was ready. This worked out great since we were tired from traveling. Once we checked in, Kris greeted us with a friendly smile. And there was even a huge display of Chupa Chups suckers on the counter to help sweetly greet us. The room was nice, we had a suite. It had a separate area for the couch and desk. There was a fridge, microwave and coffee maker in our room. The TV was at an odd angle and bolted down so that we could not really adjust it. But that was ok, since we weren't spending a lot of time watching TV. There is a small indoor pool, fitness room and outdoor seating area available. Each morning they have a breakfast available. You can make your own waffles. And the variety of food is pretty good from eggs, yogurt, dry cereal and fresh fruits. There is plenty of parking available. Just checked out of this hotel. Thank goodness I only was there 1 night. Was given a room on the 3rd floor. It had an adjoining room with a door to the next room. The guy on the other side was quite loud spoken and could be clearly heard through the 2 doors that separate the rooms. I turned the air on so it muffled him. He also woke up and had the TV blaring at 6am. The doors inside the room separating the 2 rooms are not well insulated for sound. Stay away from adjoining rooms. Their website states a hot buffet for breakfast. They do not currently have a hot breakfast. Their Togo breakfast bag they give you has 2 pieces of bread and an English muffin with Butter/Jam and Nutella . Probably trying give away their old inventory. Not impressive Will not be staying at this location in the future read more
