I called Dr. Aducayen's office to confirm they take new patients and that they'd accept my insurance. They confirmed and scheduled me for an appointment. On the day off my appointment, I go to check in and the staff member tells me since my insurance card lists my old PCP and not Dr. Aducayen, they'd have to charge me $120 co-pay!!! Why was I not told this when I initially booked my appointment?! How was I supposed to know their policy?! Needless to say, I canceled my appointment and will look for another doctor.

First let me say I have had a chronic illness for over 30 yrs. I've been seeing doctors, having…read moresurgery, going to the ER on a regular basis over this time. Never have I encountered a doc who has been so lacking in compassion or ability. Just trying to get one of my 8 regular prescriptions refilled took at least 3 phone calls to his office to just get him to do his job and approve them. If I needed to talk to him, which was often due to his lack of response to basic refills, I was told by his staff to call him when his office was closed for lunch. All those calls went into his answering service, which were never returned. Waiting 20 to 30 minutes each time I went to see him just added insult to injury. His office hours are unbelivable. His official hours are M-F 9-4 but I could never get through to his staff until 10:30 am and never after 3:00 pm. His office was closed on Fridays. These hours are unbelievable for a primary care doc. God forbid I ever needed to reach him on the weekend. I would have died before he responded. When I saw him for severe back, hip and leg pain along with a marbled rash on my hip and upper thigh he refused to treat me. This was after waiting two weeks for an urgent appointment. Due to the pain I hadn't slept more than an hour at a time when I called his office and while I waited for my appointment. When I finallysaw him he told me to go to the ER, which I did and which incurred yet another unnecessary co-pay only to learn that the marbling on my skin was a RASH, for God's sake. How could a doctor with over 25 years' experience not have had experience with rashes???? The severe back, hip and leg pain was because he didn't know how to prescribe Neurontin, a widely used med for nerve pain, which I had been taking for over 10 years. It was my insurance plan that recommended me to him. I am under Sutter Health East Bay. If you are recommended to him, RUN! My new doc,through the same plan is Anita Bhat in Concord, Antioch and Walnut Creek. I recommend you see her instead. Dealing with her and her staff is a complete pleasure. My meds are refilled within hours and she and her staff are responsive, professional and effective.

I waited for precious weeks for my first appointment and my husband and I went together to see him for cholesterol issues. Right after our first appointment, my husband was so touched by his professionalism, compassion and quiet confidence, that he too assigned Dr. Zhang as his PCP. I loved it that Dr. Zhang could be non-PC and just told me to lose a few pounds. Wut?! A doctor who doesn't want to push pills?! Afterwards I had another medical issue and while my next appointment was not due for a few weeks, his office was able to schedule a time in his busy calendar to have him video conference me in. So it is not like he does not care, (I am after all a new patient) but he only has so much time in a day. If you can see this good doctor you are among the lucky ones.

The staff scheduled a make-up appointment for my boyfriend to see DR DEL RIO and when he got there the receptionist said he wasn't in the computer so they couldn't see him. When my boyfriend had called a couple weeks prior the receptionist put my boyfriend on hold to specifically ask the DR. DEL RIO if he wanted to see him before the "real" specialist appointment.
