Tony is a great mechanic and a very nice person to deal with. I sent him an email about issues with my gas lawnmower needing attention and repair. He quickly responded, set up an appointment and arrived on time and ready to work. He had suggested that a complete tune-up was in order. I agreed and he was finished within an hour. Thoroughly cleaned the lawnmower (some areas I never knew about), performed the tune-up, changed the oil and sharpened the blade. He was neat, cleaned up the area and worked efficiently. Price quoted was the price he charged. Best part for me is he comes to your residence to do the work, saving me having to lug it to a repair shop or pay pick-up/delivery fees in addition to the cost of the service. My husband ran over a stump in our yard while mowing. I went on the Nextdoor website to get a recommendation for someone who does lawnmower repair. A kind neighbor recommended Tony. Tony runs Springfield Small Engine Repairs and his email is springfieldsmallenginerepair@gmail.com. I emailed him explaining the problem and after corresponding about some details he came out to my house two days later (I didn't even need to be home!). He checked out the mower, called me to tell me that I needed two new parts, and said that he'd call me later in the day with a price estimate. Sure enough, Tony called me later in the day and told me that the parts would be $39. He said that he would charge me $10 to install the parts if I also paid $85 for a top to bottom maintenance session. This is a new mower so my husband did not want to pay for the maintenance this year (plus let's face it - he's cheap), so Tony said that he would charge us $35 for the part installation on top of the $39 for the parts. I completely understand charging more for labor if the only reason he's coming out is to simply install a few parts. The man's gotta make a living. In one day Tony assessed our damages, gave us quotes, and ordered the parts. In a week he will come back and install the replacement parts. I intend to use Tony in the future for the lawnmower maintenance aspect. The guy does housecalls and that makes him a gem in my book. Support Tony and local businesses! read more

Tony was on-time and quick. He is one of the few that will come to your house to fix your item, so you don't have to pay pickup or dropoff fees. He brings everything he needs. He fixed my snowblower, and tightened everything and checked the oil and tire pressure to make sure there were no other issues in the future. This was an outstanding experience. I have a chipper/shredder and needed to replace the shredder knives. The main issue was getting the old knives removed, which entailed getting off the bolts that had been secured with Loctite. Using a propane torch, Tony heated up the old bolts, removed them, put Loctite on the new bolts and finished the task in about 20 minutes -- all in my garage. From the initial phone call to the finished job, it took three days. By comparison, an outfit I had used before said there would be a minimum three-week backlog on the job, plus it charges for pickup and drop-off in addition to the repair work.
