[556] This easy to find Hospital has plenty of paid parking in the garage. Entrance is thru the Sportsplex (aka gym) which is super cool. If I lived closer I would definitely be a member. The hospital is very clean and plenty of signs so you do not get lost. We walked past the cafeteria. Didn't eat but the layout is super cool and modern. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Tons of comfortable places to sit and wait for your loved one. I rather not be in a hospital but if I did this would be my top choice. read more

I was stuck here for a night a couple of months ago after what turned out to be a gall bladder attack. Personally, I received decent treatment here both in the ER and in the room I was given. Granted I was at the ER at 6:30 am and it was empty. So I suppose I lucked out in that regard. The nursing staff was courteous. The doctors I saw though were not up to my standards. The dietary advice I got upon discharge from one of them turned out to be pretty inadequate upon further review after the fact. And at least one different doctor came into my room for all of two minutes, maybe listened to my heart, asked a couple of questions, and then billed my insurance for a visit. I swear some of these doctors just make rounds here to rack up billing. I could be wrong. But it left a bad taste in my mouth. I'd come here before I went to Taylor though. That's for sure. read more

I would give no stars if that was an option. I wouldn't take a dog there. The nurses in the critical care unit were horrible. No compassion. The nursing director was a disgrace. The doctor in CCU incompetent. We had to have my aunt transferred out of their because the care was so poor. Do Not take anyone there you will regret it. The only reason she was there is because she was taken by ambulance from the place where she receives dialysis. This hospital is a disgrace and should be shut down! read more

This hospital is TERRIBLE! Our 97-year-old uncle was admitted. The person in charge of his care was not a doctor but a nurse practitioner whom they give the fancy but meaningless title of "hospitalist." The only doctors we could find were specialists. This hospitalist almost immediately determined that our uncle (who had been singing and dancing a few days earlier) was a candidate for hospice, and that's how she proceeded. She made this determination because, after developing a C Diff infection, he initially refused to take his medicine, and he pulled out his I.V. Anyone who works with dementia patients knows this is common and there are ways around it, but she was ready to write him off as just another old guy who was ready to die. Getting the hospitalist to speak with us was generally a task in itself, and when my wife pleaded for him to go to a rehab facility instead of hospice, the hospitalist became indignant and accused my wife of wanting to "torture him to save money." After enlisting the help of our uncle's doctor and the head of nursing at his assisted living facility, we were able to get him transferred to an excellent rehab facility, where he immediately began taking his medicine, getting physical therapy, and improving. We're not stupid...we know that at 97, his time is limited, but he really wanted to return home and spend time with his 99-year-old wife, to whom he's been married for 77 years. But the net of all this is that if you want deathcare, Springfield is the hospital for you, but if you want healthcare from people who really care, find another hospital. Like I wrote earlier, this hospital is TERRIBLE. read more

Horrible ER service. Zero other people in the waiting room and I waited 50 minutes without being called back. It took nearly 20 minutes to even be checked in or find a single person working. Came in with a heart and breathing concern. God forbid I had a life threatening problem. I eventually just got in my car and left to seek treatment elsewhere. If you want to be treated like your health concern matters, best to find a different hospital. read more

I came to the Emergency Department for care and I was anxious given some of the other reviews I saw. However, this ER is the closest to my house. Well, I don't know if they've hired new nurses since the last reviews or if they have just improved their overall service, but my experience was excellent! The nurses were kind, they took their time with me and they listened to me, they actually listened. The doctor was very polite and funny too. They made me feel so much better during one of my worst moments. Thank you Springfield ER team. read more

Excellent experience early this am! Around 2am my 18 yo son and I arrived at the ER. My son had a large piece of glass wedged in his foot. I was quickly greeted by nurse John when we arrived. Dr Harris was in shortly after. Both were extremely attentive and professional. I can't praise them enough! They eased my son and at the same moment they were able to inject a needle and remove the glass. My son even mentioned on the way home He was so happy we chose Springfield and what a good visit It was! read more

This review reflects my opinion strictly of Springfield Hospitals: Physical Therapy, Aqua Therapy, and Occupational Therapy Departments. I've had over 150 sessions combined, both pre-surgery and post-surgery, to treat my neck, knees, Achilles, elbow, shoulder and wrist and I couldn't have received better care that at Springfield Hospital Therapy. I've worked with almost all of the staff and they are some of the most dedicated healthcare workers I've come across. They work out a good plan of action for you and adjust it as needed and also provide you with detailed instructions (and often printouts) of exercises for the patient to do at home in between sessions. This entire staff is personable and professional and they create a comfortable atmosphere for patients. The patient to therapist ratio seems just right, but even if one of my therapists was tied up helping another patient, one of their teammates quickly stepped in to assist. They all seem to work very well together as a coherent team. But it's not just the Therapists and the PT assistants who make this place great. It's also the support staff, starting with the women who register patients at the front desk (Robyn and Krista) and also the staff that assists the therapists with ice, heating packs and putting away the equipment. The only area of opportunity that I see here is that they need some new equipment. Some of the stuff looks like it came straight out of the 70s and is sort of a hodgepodge of machines. read more

I am a bit confused as to the ratings I am reading here. I have been to Springfield hospital a good number of times ER and other (was also a member of the gym for a while-- excellent). I have never had the bad service other people are complaining about. At the ER I never waited in the waiting room more than 20-30 mins. The staff has great bedside manners and I would recommend. read more

I have never been impressed with this hospital. Their eye doctors office is dirty and I am sure of the qualifications of their techs. I only go to Springfield Physical Therapy their one shining star. I was disappointed that this hospital did not notify me it would be closed so I didn't travel their for an appointment. To be honest, I should have called. I had the misfortune of being admitted to Springfield Hospital & was shocked at unsafe care/negligence over 3 shifts. (During a Fri/Sat) I now wish I'd videotaped a few things: Charge Nurse ignored me when I asked about getting a red Allergy bracelet. (I have allergies). She refused my repeated requests for another confirmation x-ray for ng tube position. *She also wouldn't get help from ER nurses who originally placed ng tube & confirmed placement via X-Ray as is required.* For unknown reasons, upon Admission to Hospital, Charge Nurse decided ng tube wasn't right. She caused me pain by wiggling it around my nostril & pushing it further numerous times before eventually gagging me. She then yanked it out without my consent. (Or Dr's order). Charge Nurse also refused to contact Admitting Physician for us. I never met the Admitting Physician...Over nite staff/nurses ignored my in person request for help plugging my IV pole in, as well as ignoring Call Button. Final shift a new Nurse came to give me a shot I'd already had...These are only some lowlights I experienced, sadly. After Discharge I called to alert Nurse Supervisor & Patient Relations to the number of dangerous people & practices during my brief stay. I have zero faith & zero evidence my reports are being addressed adequately. (Seems these positions are M-F, FYI so don't dare need help on a weekend). I'm EXTREMELY concerned people & their loved ones are being put in jeopardy at Springfield Hospital. read more

Physical therapy department was in the basement. The staff was more worried about what was on the radio than how the patients were treated. I routinely overheard staff laughing at their own patients form and appearance once they were out of earshot. I wouldn't send my dog to this facility, don't be fooled just because of its location..... I've been to more physical therapy facilities than I care to discuss due to a nasty accident and this was by far and away the worst. read more

If I could do 0 stars I would. My mother was brought there by ambulance. Her blood pressure was extremely low. When she was admitted through the ER, her care was horrific. The doctors and nurses didn't communicate with each other, nurses never looked at her chart, when we told a nurse that she had a broken shoulder blade, she argued with me and said she didn't and proceeded to pull on my mothers arm, causing great pain. The doctors did not communicate to me, her power of attorney, who was there from morning to night and saw the doctors several times, some conditions my mother was suffering from, like sepsis, then lied to my aunt and told her she told me days before. Never. Perhaps the most unforgivable of all is they left her lying in feces for minimally four hours when they were aware of open wounds in that area. We paid hundreds of dollars to transfer her to another hospital to get adequate care, and the care is like night and day. Now I live near Springfield Hospital, and have health issues of my own. If ever I need to go to a hospital, and the ambulance insists on taking me there because it's closest, I swear I will Uber myself to another hospital. They are unfit to operate, and need further training in each of their fields, as well as interpersonal skills. Simply horrible. read more

This is by far the worst emergency department I have ever visited and after reading the other reviews on this page it is clear that they do not care about their potential patients at all. My friend and I walked in around 11:30 pm because she had concerns about her heart and her breathing. We sat in an empty waiting room for 20 minutes and rang their "ring for assistance" doorbell and did not receive assistance by any means. After an hour we decided to walk out of the hospital. Avoid this hospital. Drive to the next one. Go to an urgent care. A CVS would provide better patient care. read more

What ever you do DO NOT GO TO EMERGENCY ROOM!!!!!! This place is very uncaring for patients. The only really great thing about this hospital is Dr Lee who was working in the ER room. Also the President who handled our problem Gwen Smith who is fantastic. But we were treated very bad by the quite a few of the staff members. The story is to long so I will not write it. But we will make sure we never return to this place again. read more

I have to agree with Omar. The physicians at this hospital seem to be in a rush...to get paid. They rush through visits and push procedures (which I assume allows them to be paid more than an actual diagnosis). They seem to have absolutely no interest in curing or even treating a patient. It is a very bizarre place. I can only assume that the either the doctors are not very bright or must have some type of obligation to the trustees to crank out the $$$$$$. read more

Rude rude and more rude , lazy doctors , nurses who try to get in your business and ask you questions that are weird and uncomfortable and just uncalled for and assumptions , doctor said I could have a cyst but says but come back another time I'm sure u don't want to wait two hours for a ultrasound, what the heck so I'm out the door with only a Motrin .. so now I'm stuck wondering if I have a cyst or not and still in pain read more

The ED staff at this hospital is phenomenal. However I can not say the same about the floor RN's. A night shift RN berated my 71 year old father while I was on the phone with him. " You are overreacting, this happens all the time, get over it. I need your arm. I have 5 other patients and don't have time to babysit you." Every time we were with our dad and wanted some information about his care the RN's told us may things like, "I am busy right now, who are you? " I have to take a phone call." I don't know anything, talk to the doctor, and no I don't know when they will be in." Wow. Why are you a nurse? Staff is completely burned out. read more

One of the ER nurses was incredibly rude and condescending the entire time even though I was nothing but polite, and the doctor was not much better. The doctor ordered an X-ray that had NOTHING to do with why I came in - even the X-rays techs were surprised that it was ordered. This ER is a joke, and doesn't even try to hide that they just want to bill your insurance for as much as possible while you are there. read more
