I booked a…read moreone-way flight less than 24 hours before my departure time and was able to fly American with a connection in Dallas. This was exciting as many many years ago the only options were connections in Chicago and that can always be hit or miss because of weather. There are two terminals and you can tell they've added new chairs that were super comfy. As another reviewer said, the security check made me laugh as I agree they must be so bored all day. I have the new "real ID" and the ladies working the check in spot got some leaflet out to verify my states drivers license and then were discussing it while shining some weird light on it. This airport still offers free parking which is unheard of these days. No need for the cell phone waiting area, you can actually park and walk inside to greet your loved ones as they arrive to SPI. :-)

Nowhere else to buy a drink or get anything to eat or snack on. Two out of three rental car agencies were open but had no cars available. I asked the rental companies employees about Uber or even just old fashioned taxi services. She advised me to try but not get disappointed, which turned out to be prophetic because both were basically nonexistent! The states' capital city with no Uber drivers and no taxi services with a working phone number! I felt as if I was in a Twilight Zone episode. The very nice young lady working at the rental car agency (with no cars) actually called her boyfriend who was at work. He left his job , came to the airport and took me and another stranded gentleman to our hotels, who had no airport shuttle services with either. Can you believe that? A complete stranger in the middle of the day in the middle of the week in August saved the day by driving us to our different hotels!! This is the worst most backwards "rinky dink" airport and overall travel experience I've ever had. If a zero star were possible I would have chosen that.
