Absolutely gorgeous historic theater offering a variety of high calibre shows. This is the official State Theater of Georgia, and for good reason: during its storied history it's hosted the likes of two American Presidents, Oscar Wilde, "Buffalo Bill" Cody, William Jennings Bryan, W.C. Fields, Booker T. Washington... the list goes on and on. A must see! read more

The historic Springer Opera House is like a giant story book, yet it is a building. The beautiful crown molding, the painted ceiling and ornate decor makes the ambiance feel like you are royalty. We saw a production of Elf that was a little adaptation of one that I had seen prior and this one really enjoyable as well. What I loved better is the variety of wine they offered. I had a lovely night out at the theater and next time I am in town, this will be a must do to see a great show. read more

Springer Opera House has figured out how to bring folks together to celebrate life and enjoy a great show -- even amid the necessary covid-19 restrictions such as face masks and social distancing. Thank you! "Family/friend units" sat together in the outdoor setting, but chairs were spaced so folks had social distance from other family/friend units. Face masks were required, and role modeled by all staff members. Ticket prices and concession prices are quite reasonable. Staff was friendly and helpful. And the show was phenomenal. What a gift... especially during a tough year... thank you. read more

One star because zero isn't an option. They cancelled a show I had tickets to the night before the show. If you aren't part of the LGBTQ community you aren't welcome in their facility. I will never step.foot in that place again. Google and Yelp reviews really don't mean much since they can get negative reviews removed, but I'll give it a try again!! read more

Wasting peoples time and money cancelling shows and lying to guests. I had tickets and had the night off work for a show they cancelled. I was out the money and it was all because they discriminate on people who don't agree with them. read more

This place is really a charming find! Thank goodness for the people who rescued it from demolition and then restored. We stopped by on a Friday afternoon just to have a look and one of the awesome volunteers just offered to give us a free tour before the evening show. That same person (who remains anonymous because I don't want to cause any issues) showed us a hallway full of very famous and recognizable photographs of persons who appeared on stage here which include actors, writers and even US Presidents. That really surprised me because who would have thought they all came to little Columbus? There is also a bar which is apparently open around 6 pm for a reception before the shows begin. We stopped by about 3:30pm and can honestly say you have to see the halls and auditorium in the daylight to appreciate the colorful ceilings and walls. There are also attractively adorned, period-correct reception areas, including the bar and even the grand staircase where many brides have posed for photos. For all of you ghost hunters, it is also rumored that many thespian spirits still strut the stage... and, why wouldn't they?!? This place is recognized as Georgia's official opera house, but it apparently receives ZERO FUNDING from the state. As I understand it, primarily their earnings come from rent, admissions, donations and are all then leveraged by their wise money management folks. One other neat feature is that the Columbus Town FireHouse was once housed in the building. You can still see the arched entry for the fire trucks on the corner near the ticket office door. In short, when you're in Columbus you'll probably be downtown for drinks and food so take a short walk over to the Opera House for a step back in time and a break from the sun and street noise. read more

Cute small musical theater located in downtown Columbus. Had a double date night and watched Greece. The staffs there are really friendly and they will help you look for your seats but get there 30 minute early because it does get packed when the shows about to start and just in case you need to go to the restroom or get a drink beforehand. We both enjoy musical theater so this was a great date night considering there isn't really much to do here in Columbus. Overall, the show was good and I would come here again to watch other musicals events. read more

Holy Moly! Just attended the Sunday matinee of "Fences" at the springer. Here's all I can say, "It's the most powerful play I've seen ever". Each actor melded deeply into the character. The quality and presence of the cast just can't be any more real. This is of the highest quality Performance Art. read more

We attended a wonderful dance recital for my nieces in May 2016. The acoustics were wonderful, and it doesn't appear that there is a bad seat in the house. It's beautiful inside and out. The employees I encountered at the doors were very nice. We'd love to come back to see a show here. What a jewel! read more

I went there one time. One guy who works at the Springer gave me two tickets. The place is impressive. For those who like theater and have money it's a good spot. This theater was founded in the second half of the nineteenth century, imagine how well established it is in Columbus. ----- Fui allí una vez.
