Unprofessional and Tactless…read more My son called around looking for a place he could receive tutoring for his SAT/ACT and got ahold of Terri. She said he needed test scores so they could see what he needed to work in...perfect. My son just took both SAT/ACT so he called his school counselor and got his scores which he sent to Terri. She called my son back and told him he still needed to take their tests and that his score was very low. My son gave me the phone where Terri proceeded to tell me that anyone got an 800 on an SAT by writing their name on it to which I interrupted her to let her know that his recent score was a 200 point improvement and my son was excited he had improved but knew he needed a better score. She rattled off about having 25 years experience and said "I didn't know someone could score so low". I let her know that surely someone with 25 years experience would know that a test could come in that low and that we would not be requiring her services. My son is a bad test taker, he has anxiety he knows he has a lot of work to do, but this women had the warmth of Auschwitz, maybe she'd be better suited with scheduling tests for the DMV.

Tutoring from Huntington Learning Center was *the* key to getting my daughter through middle and high school. The owner, Terri Davis, is warm and supportive. I have had many meetings with her over the years, both by phone and in person. Terri knows her stuff. The staff is great, too. There is a formula to success and Huntington knows what it is. My daughter is now in college. Huntington works.

Hello anxious parent! (I mean who else is going to read this review?)…read more You're probably checking Yelp because you're getting ready to decide where to send your little one for daycare/preschool/VPK. It's stressful, isn't it!? My son was in an in home daycare I loved from 12 weeks old but as he approached 4, I knew I was going to be faced with a very difficult decision. Where do I send him next? He has a September birthday so I wanted him to go to someplace I could count on for VPK eventually. But I also needed to feel confident in their leadership, the curriculum, and the facility itself. We toured many places and met with several directors but nothing felt "right" other than Ohana. Here are our reasons! 1. Location. For us, this is close to our house so my son doesn't spend an hour in the car each day. 2. Cost. Their tuition is very reasonable for the area! 3. Staff. Kara, the director, is super chill, has a masters degree, and just leaves you with the feeling that your kid will be in good hands. She was great during the tours and answered all of our questions. My son's teacher is also great. Ms. Amber is communicative, positive, loving, and helpful. 4. Curriculum. They provided me the info on their curriculum so I could do my own research. This was helpful as we chose between preschool because I knew what to expect educationally. 5. Facility. The preschool is CLEAN and cute! (I mean who doesn't love turtles!?) 6. Reasonable expectations. They are realistic about what to expect from kids behaviorally and developmentally. They don't call you for every little thing. They don't send your kid home because he sneezed twice. They get the woes of a working parent. 7. The extras. They have a provider come in to teach soccer (at an extra cost), they do school pictures, they do class birthday parties, they encourage parental involvement (reasonably), they have special theme days. They keep it fun! 8. 2 months in my son is SO HAPPY. He asks to go everyday. Even on days they're closed he wants to go to school. He loves his teacher. He's made friends. He's learning quickly. We definitely made the right choice! If you want more info or to ask more questions feel free to message me! Love, A no-longer-anxious-parent

Sausage Breakfast Burrito! That's all I got!…read more Ok, here's the back story. I was driving down US 19 from Tarpon Springs with D & Gigi. My Terrain decides to blow a tire. Everybody's cool. I pull over at St Pete College and call Roadside Assistance 'cause I got it! Gigi and D see the sign for The Campus Cafe and trek over to see what they could discover. They came back with a Breakfast Burrito and Lucky Charms cereal! We all tried the Burrito! Gigi decided, "It's awesome!" The declaration was unanimous! The sausage, egg, and cheese is brought together with a tasty salsa and nicely wrapped in a soft flour tortilla! Simply made, it shouts "Delish!" See? That's all I got ... and that's all to be said!

I attended classes at St. Petersburg College straight out of high school (Fall of 2007). I have…read moreexperienced numerous disappointments, no matter how hard I would continue to push forward with the best attitude and dedication I could towards furthering my education. I have participated in the Student Survey of Instructions, but I feel professors don't leave as much impact as the administrative and advising roles. These positions can make or break a student's experience. Within my first year of courses, a very close friend of mine passed away from a tragic car accident. We had planned the semester together and even shared some classes. After he passed, I had a professor bluntly ask me about the details of his death. So far as to ask if he was buried and where. This is completely unethical and out of conduct for a professor. In the summer of 2013, I embarked on a study abroad program with St. Petersburg College. I was blessed to be able to attend on a scholarship. Even with such funds, I cannot say the experience can be justified with how the program was portrayed. I met another student at an informational session, so we traveled to/from together. The course had no experience at all as what was described within the course/program outline. The biggest disappointment was that the professor brought his girlfriend and structured many of the day's activities around her schedule. I turned to Pasco Hernando State College (PHSC) to complete statistics, which I passed with an A. Within my short time there, it was a world of different experiences with their faculty and support staff. The team at PHSC truly strives for their students, such as Lynne Wolf did. I was so compelled by their enthusiasm and support, several times I even wrote thank you letters to people who had such an impact on me during my short time at PHSC. I finally really got a grasp on my coursework when I entered my bachelor's program at SPC. I brought attention to the matter of missing elective credits to my advisor. It was disappointing that my advisor had poorly advised me, and shared she questioned the curriculum as she didn't complete the program personally but had a colleague who did. It was due to taking pre-requisites as my electives in my associates' coursework, we couldn't understand the shortage of credits. I completed my capstone and won in the BSG. I felt the entire demeanor of the course was not motivating but more pressured under the influence of "if you don't pass you take another lap next semester." Never have I received such harsh scores without explanation of grading. Given time to reflect these encounters, I can say there is a lack of compassion and encouragement compared to my short experience with PHSC. I understand SPC may be a larger operation, but perhaps consider the opportunity to have a larger team to help your students rather than leave them to "figure it out." After all, we are the students. My dad was so proud to see my degree when it came in the mail. He was extremely broken-hearted at the printout sent to "take a photo and tag SPC on social media" that was enclosed with it. He felt this was so tasteless and poor representation for all my hard work as well as to the family of the graduating students. He questioned why it didn't have a cover, and how/where I could purchase one, he actually said "degrees are supposed to come in a cover." I keep trying to inquire about this cover to help amend this. But SPC can't see beyond the inquiry, telling me to check back. The printout for social media was in poor taste. Especially when you see the personal care packages PHSC mailed to their graduates. I understand there needs to be a budget in place for such things, but SPC could have done better than a printout for their own social media benefit. Having taken numerous business and marketing courses, I am sure none of the material would ever suggest a tasteless action such as this response such as the enclosed picture to my degree to take a photo to tag and share on social media.

Erica in the front office blew me away with her tour of the school. Many of the schools i toured previously were very wishy washy with their procedures and policies. I wanted a place that felt like home, had a respectable kind staff, but had clear expectations and guidelines for my son's safety and care. I toured school with a long check list of questions and all of my concerns were addressed professionally. My son (17m) has been attending since he was 10 weeks old. As a first time mom everything was overwhelming and frightening to start. The whole staff was so helpful and welcoming to start. Bianca and her team made this very difficult transition seem very smooth. I remember on our first day she invited me to call the classroom as many times as I needed. I did my best to focus on my work and trust they had him. She was kind enough to call me. Just to check in and give me an update knowing this was a big day for both of us. Bianca was incredible when it came to difficult things like transitioning to solids, sickness, and developmental milestones. Now my son is in the 1's class and he's learning so much everyday. He can't wait to go to school in the morning. I can't imagine being a working mom and not having this level of care for my son. I feel so fortunate that I found this group right away. As soon as we made contact with the Waldorf School of Tampa Bay, we knew that we had found something unique. My son and I were introduced to the school through the Merrily We Meet parent/child classes, taught by one of the most delightful educators you'll ever meet - Ms. Connie. She provides a beautiful introduction to Waldorf education through modeling, singing, simple handwork, puppetry, article/book discussions, and so much more! If you are interested in learning more about Waldorf education, this is such a lovely way to start. I will forever treasure the early days when I was able to attend class with my son! I shared everything I learned with my husband, who did some more research and went to tour the school with me. We saw the campus (it's magical), talked to the administration and faculty, asked tons of questions about curriculum and safety and social emotional well-being, and left the tour feeling so relieved that we had found a school where we felt our son could have the space and guidance to thrive; not just academically, but also physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Fast forward to the end of our son's first year in the early childhood program and we cannot be happier. He is excited to go to school every morning. He has lots of free play inside and outside, circle time, a healthy and hearty organic snack prepared by his teachers, and plenty of opportunities to socialize in different settings - from outside in the sandbox, to inside playing with toys, to around the table sharing a meal. He loves his teachers, and we do too! They have been very helpful in sharing ways that we can support our son's first year in school. We treasure the fact that they honor our son's current stage of childhood and respect him as a unique individual. In addition to our son's day to day happiness with his teachers and classmates, we have learned what it means to participate in a school that nurtures not only it's children, but entire families! We have had many opportunities to become involved in our school community through the parent council and through monthly parent education sessions presented by various teachers. Topics are always inspiring and range from nourishing a child's imagination, to how art feeds science, to creating loving boundaries, and many more. We have felt so welcomed and respected by the entire community throughout our first year as a Waldorf family. And we've learned a lot, too! In summary, my child is safe, well cared for, and respected at his school. His teachers know what is developmentally appropriate for his age and for him as a person, and they guide him accordingly. The teachers, administrators, and parents all support each other and the result is this peaceful, thriving, magical little community beneath the oak trees in Palm Harbor, FL. A place where learners are exposed to rigorous academics alongside the arts, plenty of time to explore and play and move their bodies, instruction in multiple languages, hands-on experiences, and countless opportunities to think critically. And I'm so glad that we get to be a part of it!
