I've been asked to sit and wait with the children. I had three directors during my time after the first one left that should've been the first Red flag that I needed to get my child out of there. Instead of demonstrating understanding or support, the director was condescending and dismissive. What was especially concerning was that she took it upon herself to diagnose my child as autistic based on her "20+ years of experience." I found this extremely inappropriate and unprofessional, as she is not a licensed medical professional and should not be labeling children in this way. As a parent, I was hoping for compassion, patience, and partnership in helping my child grow, especially since this was his first time attending daycare and he needed to adjust to social interactions. Instead, I left feeling judged and disheartened. I would not recommend Oak Crest Preschool to families who value inclusivity, empathy, and professional boundaries. I paid $225 for the registration and curriculum fee non-refundable, which I worked hard to afford, yet it was clear that the curriculum was never applied to support my child. After only 1 day, my child was judged without a fair chance.

From my experience I can say it is in a safe and convenient location and the owners daughter who was there when my last child was briefly enrolled is lovely to deal with but the actual owner and face of the facility is passive aggressive, and condescending at the very least. Every-time there was a request for anything she refused to accommodate it. For the cost it is not a deal and does not provide adequate services. My last child was attacked and this was the third time in three days, he was left with a deep scratch in his face that is now a permanent scar a year later. He also "fell" into a bookshelf that left possible fracture in his skull and permanent calcification and dent in his forehead. The doctor said it will Most likely never go away (happened 19 months ago) The first two requests on the injuries that had occurred previous to the serious one were dismissed despite my son telling me another kid hurt him. Additionally my son had a medical emergency (seizure) and requested to see footage per the doctors request and they refused to help me obtain this. Lastly to these isolated incidents, I have never felt more unwelcome in a place that I spent thousands and thousand of dollars at. We have switched to a different preschool and it is like day and night compared to Oak Crest, I didn't realize until i switched how terrible my experience over a 4 year period actually was. They really could improve how they treat staff and families and ultimately the care they provide kids.

This school is amazing. The ownership, procedures, maintenance, and overall running of the school…read moreare absolutely wonderful. As someone with an advanced degree in Education, I am hypercritical of schools and curriculum, I examine curriculum and teaching effectiveness all day in my career. The school is definitely Montessori enough, Montessori schools provide students with freedom within limits, and maybe that seems unruly to someone who has no idea what Montessori even is. The school is better priced that 7 of the schools I looked at in the area, only Primrose was more expensive. The school has a few entrances, all of which are locked by key and only a few members of the school have the keys. It is extremely safe. The owners of this school put me at ease. The school itself is immaculate and the outside areas are pristine. The communication is incredible, I can always follow up if I have a question or concern and get immediate feedback and help. My daughter goes in and comes out happy every single day. She has bloomed into a wonderful little human and at each checkup her doctor is amazed at how much she knows and does for under 3. I give full credit to the teachers and owner of the school for that. The teachers are a mix of backgrounds, some speak English, some speak Spanish, some might even speak more languages- I don't really know. I absolutely love the diversity and inclusion of the school and I couldn't be happier. My daughter did go to a different school and it had many of the same aspects but my daughter wasn't happy. The owners and teachers of this school are incredible and it shows in the kids that go there.

However, my concern lies with Mrs. Zee, the Co-owner/Director. I have a couple of major issues. She seems friendly enough at first, but as time goes on you begin to notice passive aggressive undertones in her communication. So much so, that the parents are made to feel as though they're doing an inadequate job parenting their kid. She tends to compare children all the time, and offers unsolicited advice. For example, our son has trouble staying attentive (he's a just-turned-4 year old boy!). He is extremely hyperactive, and definitely a little daredevil. Honestly, what pre-school boy isn't? She tells me to get my son evaluated because he's a lot worse than most of their kids there. She'll say it in a way that makes it seem like she's just being caring, but in reality, it's very condescending. Another example - if my child has the sniffles or allergies one day, she somehow makes it into a massive ordeal as if I should get it checked out because it could be RSV which is DEADLY (and she was sure to mention the fact that it's deadly). Very tactless and unnecessary. Literally, every mild complaint my child has is blown completely out of proportion. In my view, as childcare professionals, they should know what is and is not serious enough to call a parent to pick up their kid. We have JOBS that we cannot just up and leave at the drop of a dime. A courtesy call is one thing, but that's not the case here. Inevitably, every time I pick up my son because of one of these ridiculous symptoms (insect bite, gas), he is always happy and totally fine once I get him home. Don't get me wrong, obviously if he's showing serious symptoms of course I have no problem picking him up! I wouldn't want to keep him there if he's contagious or feeling seriously ill. However, her ability to make appropriate judgement calls are lacking. Aside from that, good luck trying to have a reasonable adult conversation with her about your concerns. She's ALWAYS right and will talk over you. She's extremely rude if you actually challenge her. If you're looking for childcare right now, look elsewhere. The lower cost is not worth the extra drama of dealing with her.

My original…read morereason for finding a child center was to get my son acclimated to a classroom environment the year prior to going to VPK. So we started with 3 half days for preschool. When I originally started looking for a preschool for my first son I went to a few very well-known local facilities and was not impressed at all. Each time I walked into the facilities I would just stand and listen to how the teachers were interacting with the children and how the children were playing until someone noticed i was in the facility and then I would ask for a tour. I was never happy with what I heard or saw. When I visited Holy Cross I walked in and just sat and listened I did not hear any children getting yelled at the place seemed very clean the teachers were interacting with the kids respectfully and the children seemed like they were having fun. Another reason why I like this facility is because it's smaller and the teachers and director are women who are a little bit older that are well seasoned and not like the typical younger people who like to be on their phones and not watch the children. I've had all three of my boys attend their preschool program and their VPK programs and I absolutely would recommend this place to everybody. If you're looking for a place that has smaller ratio teacher/child, well seasoned teachers and a clean Facility this places for you. Also the prices are very reasonable if that is a factor in finding the right facility for you.
