So the reviews you see below are clearly old. I agree, 2 years ago before my kids joined, the had…read morewonderful leadership & curriculum... we got the tail end of that and then watched this place completely fall apart. I have waited all summer to write this because I wanted it to be as un-emotional & succinct as possible. My kids attended 2 years of Montessori here. They loved the teachers but left for summer with very little support for the upcoming school year. Granted, one year was complex with COVID but there is no excuse to conduct a teaching environment if you're not following the Montessori method and actually teaching. I feel so sad for the teachers. They all mean well & love their students. However this place has had multiple admins turnover in a matter of 2 years, and teachers came & went just as easily. Unfortunately this was evident when multiple parents came together towards the end of the year and realized their kids (8-10) year olds still could not read at their grade level. This same group of parents spent their summer paying alternative schools (Kumon is who I hired) to supplement everything these kids had missed. Mind you, my son was complex and has not done well in any school due to a minor disability, however this wasn't just my son who required remedial tutoring & this review isn't solely based on my son's issues. They weren't proactive in helping me with educational resources , I had to get a 504 plan from a local elementary school, which he didn't even attend but they were willing to take me through the process. Along with charging a ridiculous amount of monthly tuition, they also had so many extra days off throughout the year...then charged extra for those care days if you were a working parent! I'm not talking holidays and 2 teacher work days. I'm talking once every month or two for no apparent reason, it was not on schedule with public schools many days they took off. They didn't pro rate, instead they charge you to "care" for, not teach your kids on those days off . the last month of school, also didn't prorate so you pay a month, get 21 days & then they charge you extra to help care for your kid the rest of the month! They also increased their tuition intermittently, I was paying approximately $1400+ per child. I'm telling you, this place will charge you & then send your kids home with subpar education to succeed thereafter. I am forever weary of Montessori going forward & have opted for charter.

Absolutely the worst staff you could imagine. It's too bad because there are many great Montessori…read moreschools out there that are excellent. The majority of the teachers are unprofessional and the principal does not have the leadership skills to identify or correct the problem. My child is in the 6th grade and several children have been inappropriately touched by other students and experienced racially related bullying as well. When parents spoke up, the staff retaliated against the students by taking away most of their privileges and cancelling all school events. Police have been present on the campus twice this year. My child, who has always been an A student, came home crying because his teacher led him to believe he is an F student. When I met with his teachers and principal, I found her story to lack any evidence and my son brought home all A's a few weeks later. I truly believe that the teacher was just being nasty. The principal and assistant supported this behavior from the teacher. I'm also shocked at the lack of education level of the faculty. There are very few times when there aren't spelling or grammar errors in what they distribute. My son has brought home reading materials with a set of questions for him to answer that didn't match the material. For the sake of the children in the Palm Harbor community that could benefit from a good private school, I hope there is a change in staff. This is not an inexpensive school by any means, I would not recommend considering this school at all.

I don't recommend this school at all if I can give 0 starts I will. So where should I start…read more... The director Cathie is so unprofessional, extremely rude. I was not greeted with respect as a mother of a child going to school there should be treated. I can't even imagine what goes down on those closed doors when I'm not around. I felt criticized about my race. And my son was getting hurt every day I will see bruises and scratches. He had scratched nails marks on his chest next to his neck, when I went to inform the teachers they will say something like.. he came to school like this or He scratched him self. So now this is unbelievable so I go to speck with the director Cathie and she says that she's not in-position to show me the cameras, also says that "in school kids get hurt and kids get sick" and I tell her that I'm will aware that these things happens but it's not ok for kids to come home will scratch's and bruises EVERYDAY !! Now let's talk about The employees who are taking care of our children while we're thinking their HAPPY and SAFE! Ms. Cathy and ms. D (the one year old class) they are very rude and have very bad energy. Twice already of picking my son from school they left him with a dirty diaper (pooped) That he also got a rash. They also feed my son water from the sink?! My son kept on throwing up allll day and night and they failed to inform me that we give him water from the sink, so I had to ask and they wouldn't tell me what water they was feeding him until I asked (are u guys giving my son water from the sink?) and she finally said yes and I told her all the money I'm paying u guys, you can't spend $3 dollars on baby water???! NOT ALL Belleair montessori academy's are good schools because it's not about the name of the school BUT THE STAFF IN IT. Look at the photos I posted below ..

The care and connection she has with the kids is so special and our son continues to thrive under her guidance. He looks forward to going to daycare every day, which truly says it all. I love Dunedin High School i love it good staff good food good students good peopleread more

Although, in case you didn't know, Dunedin High's reputation is not the best, it actually is…read moresomewhat of a hidden gem of a high school. Coming from seven schools previously to this one (private and public) it's safe to say I know a good bit about the school system so just keep that in mind. Dunedin's direct public competition such as PHU, East Lake, and Tarpon are all egregiously overrated. Since large portions of those schools populations are wealthy they have access to virtually any drug which is why each of them have horrible drug problems, especially Tarpon (common for kids there to have gone to rehab). Teachers at east lake are lazy and rely on the wealth of the students there to pay for private tutoring rather than teaching the subject properly, this combined with their drug problem makes me question why anyone would consider this school. PHU is the best option of this list since it has the most driven population of student; however, they WILL work you harder than you have ever been worked before. The private schools are not much better considering all the ones in Pinellas county such as Calvary and especially CCC have the same drug problems as the listed public schools just for the premium price of about $16000. These schools make you think that your getting something for your money but in reality they are really limiting your education by making things harder than they have to be (meaning getting into rigorous classes such as AP classes which boost your GPA is harder to do here than elsewhere). These schools are also usually full of spoiled brats which is not always a good influence on other kids there cause everyone knows how good the work ethic of those kind of kids are. Jesuit seems to be the only reasonable private school however they are in Tampa and only allow boys. Now looking at Dunedin alone it is easy to overlook at first but here is an overview of what's up. The school has a very small population compared to any other public school in the county. Dunedin has teachers that fight for their students and really do a great job (that doesn't just come from me). Dunedin has a solid amount of AP classes and it's not difficult to get into one, as well getting into the social groups at the top in terms of grades is super easy since the class is so small (this comes from a student who is top of their class). The drug problem at Dunedin is minor especially when compared to other schools in the county. The bad news about Dunedin is that ever since COVID the school has been losing good teachers and things are generally on the decline in terms of quality, although there is new admin that looks good but I won't be there to see how they do. This decline is completely due to the school board of Pinellas county, they are absolutely TERRIBLE. They are the reason this review is missing a star and why Dunedin is declining. But all that being said dunedin will stay at least a decent school, better than the others mentioned at least. So essentially your two choices are between PHU and Dunedin, and keep in mind that there isn't a one size fits all kind of school so when deciding between these schools you really have to see which one fits your child the best. PHU will work ur child as hard as a college student but Dunedin will force your student to build their own work ethic to be at the same level (which for me was better). Ultimately both schools are being affected by the school board so the decline at Dunedin is really happening everywhere however PHU always is getting better student each year due to its IB program so that covers up all of their holes. If you are not interested in the IB or don't get into it PHU is in no way worth it at all. I hope this review gives you a little more insight into the school system if you are searching for a school for your child or if you are an alum looking back on your old high school hopefully this gives you insight into the situation here.
