We enrolled our 2-year-old at O2B Kids South Westshore and ultimately withdrew him due to ongoing…read moresafety and supervision concerns in his classroom. Over several weeks (October-November), our child was injured multiple times by the same child, including bite marks and other physical incidents. Some of these incidents were documented with incident reports, while others were not. We also personally witnessed aggressive behavior on more than one occasion. I understand that incidents can happen at this age; however, in our experience the behavior occurred often enough to significantly impact the classroom environment. From what was communicated to us by staff at the time, these incidents were affecting multiple children, and the classroom teacher was also struggling. While a behavior plan was reportedly in place, the incidents continued. At one point, we observed the classroom teacher in visible emotional distress due to the situation. We do not fault the teacher at all; she appeared to be doing everything she could under extremely difficult circumstances. Our concerns were with how the situation was handled at the administrative level and the lack of effective intervention to ensure safety for everyone in the classroom. After raising concerns, communication was extremely disappointing. Multiple requests for copies of all incident reports involving our child went unanswered. While some documentation was provided, we did not receive all incident reports or redacted information related to our child despite repeated requests. In addition, a confidentiality issue occurred in which our contact with corporate was shared with another parent. This resulted in that parent confronting me on school grounds in a way that felt inappropriate and upsetting. The ongoing situation caused significant emotional distress for our family and ultimately forced us to remove our child and secure alternative care on very short notice, resulting in financial loss and disruption to our work and family life. I'm sharing this so other parents can ask detailed questions about classroom safety, behavior management, documentation practices, and communication before enrolling. Every child deserves a safe environment, and every parent deserves transparency. The silver lining is that our son is now in a different school where he feels safe and supported. He has told us he loves his new school and does not want to return to what he described as the "mean class" at O2B.

Security is top notch there. All the door have an alarm to it. I really liked the sterilization machine in the hallway. The kitchen where the food is prepared was large, clean and organized. This won't be the cheapest daycare you'll find but it seems like they take good care of the kids and facility.

Then given a hour by hour break down of general what suppose to be happening in class. We as our child if they did prescribed activity they would more time than not say no. An every day when we would pick up our child would be plopping front of tv screen and teachers would be cleaning up so what ever they say in on the schedule for after 5pm is incorrect the teachers wouldn't be cleaning up if would actually going to go back and do something. The only reason I say all of this in the past tense is because we just moved out of state. If not for that, we definitely would have kept him here indefinitely. Back when my wife was pregnant and we were touring all of the daycares in the area, we truly could not believe how expensive they were. Literally, the cost of daycare was the same as a monthly payment for a luxury sports car. Heck, it was even on par with my first mortgage. How does anyone afford this?! But fortunately, while still cheap by no means, Kiddie Academy was definitely the most affordable option in the area. And as first time parents, we *immediately* learned that not only was tuition worth it, but we were probably under-paying. Being able to leave our son in the hands of these lovely people for up to 50 hours a week was invaluably helpful for two working parents. We knew he was in great hands and we knew he was having a lot more fun at school than he would have been at home with us. If you're in the Carrollwood/Northdale area, be sure to stop by for a tour here before you decide on visiting another school.
