As I sat in the chair waiting for my wax at about 6pm, I was confronted by a multitude of screeching children leaving the adjoining daycare. Had I not been here for wax, but for something like a relaxing massage, I would have been quite upset about the situation. I was annoyed though as I waited for almost 20 minutes for my technician, who was doing nails and chatting about the grainy massage video playing on a 9" tv while I waited. Once it was finally my turn, I entered into a fairly clean, though minimal room. The wax that was used was a roll-on kind that I'd never seen before. Never in my wildest dreams did I expect to have my legs waxed that FAST. It was amazing! Speedy service at a decent price. I will definitely go back to Spring Rain for waxes. I might try them for other spa treatments, but I was kinda of put off by the shopping mall experience. If they are as effective as my experience, then it'll probably be worth it. read more

Pro: The prices were reasonable. Cons: Since it shares a building with a daycare center you can forget a truly relaxing massage due to screaming children. My massage was with Natalya and my Swedish massage was more like a deep tissue massage. I definitely felt sore the next day and thought the experience was more painful than pleasant. I wouldn't go back here. I went for a groupon deal with included a body treatment, a facial, and a hand treatment. First they ask me to undress in one room, then afterwards they asked me to switch to another room, and I'm forced to carry all of my things (they didn't offer to help) as we go to another room. As I've never had a body treatment before, I'll assume using a hardware type blue tarp is the traditional method of doing this. Although, it felt odd. I have had a fair number of facials. I felt like I was left for a long time in the room; she just kind of applied a mask, and then left again. There wasn't a lot of massaging of the face, etc. The real problem was I felt like the whole time she was trying to sell me stuff (DURING the 'relaxation' facial and wrap). Then, upon exiting, I get a tip envelope thrust at me saying the minimum expected tip is $34 dollars, which had the service been amazing, I would have likely tipped at least $30. However, it was not an amazing service. I feel like this is the type of place that definitely 'scales down' the quality of the service to match the groupon price. In no way, could what I have experienced, cost $179. No water or tea after the session, either, which I feel, with a body wrap should be particularly important. I feel bad leaving a negative review, and I can't speak for others, but this was the first time, I felt like calling Groupon to get my money back. I came in for a bikini wax, and let's say it was through. I can't imagine getting large areas of my body waxed, as the lady went over the same spot multiple times. It was quick and well done - but way more painful than the other places I've been. Plus she was scratching/tickling me with her fingernail to get all the leftover wax off - sort of weird and it went on for a very long time. The atmosphere was almost creepy, and was certainly not relaxing. I was anxious to get out of there almost. The price was decent though ($30 including tip) and very convenient to get to. Pro: Prices are reasonable for the services they offer. Pro: Toilet had a bidet, which was kind of exciting. Con: Terrible, terrible location. I had no idea where to park since they only have two spots directly in front of the building. I was greeted by a gruff man who asked me when I had purchased my Groupon. I had no idea what date I bought it on and why would I? I then asked if I could use the bathroom and was told no. The therapist came to get me. She was very nice. She had me undress and lay naked on the table. I realized the door opened right into a hallway where anyone walking by could have seen me, but I was pretty sure I was the only one there. When I walked in, the lights were off and I was fairly certain they were closed until someone spoke up from the corner. The wrap portion of the service was fine. The facial was TERRIBLE. No extractions, no steam. It appeared to consist of rubbing lotions on my face and then leaving the room for extended periods of time. At one point I some of the lotion got into my eye and there was no one there to help me even though I was wrapped up like a cocoon. Finally, I was deserted for long enough that I started to suspect the therapist was conducting a service on someone else in the different room at the same time. Otherwise, why all the deserting? After a particularly long absence, in which I was getting really uncomfortable, I started to get up and leave. The therapist materialized (it must have been at least 20 to 30 minutes) and helped me get the guck from the wrap off me. But, it was still gross when I had t put all my clothes on and half-blind in my left eye from one of the lotions. I high tailed it out of there. Do not recommend, despite the good prices. This was my third time going to Spring Rain . I had been there for one massage and a facial and both times I came out feeling like a new person. Usually I do not write any reviews but after today's ONLY 30 mins neck and shoulder massage I felt obligated to share the amazing work Natalia did on my neck/shoulders. I was having a migraine for two consecutive days when I finally admitted that the migraine could have been due to my neck being so tight. I only went to this spa because I found a deal for it - massage and facial for a good price. Even though the price was good, it still wasn't worth the money. I've been to a lot of different spas and massage therapists, and this was by far the worst massage I've ever had. I felt fairly uncomfortable the entire time. I considered leaving shortly after I arrived when I heard the older couple working there arguing in another language (Russian, or some Eastern European language). They both seemed extremely irritated about something. There were no other customers there, and yet I waited for about 20 minutes (I was on time for my appointment). The therapist (an older man) either was trained in a technique that I've never experienced before, or just had no idea what he was doing. It was not relaxing at all, especially since I was given the facial at the same time I had the massage. I was expecting one after the other. Also, the two people working on me left the room several times for extended periods. Overall, the facial was adequate and the massage was a complete waste of time and money. When my massage/facial combo was finally over, the massage "therapist" brought me back to the front desk and pointed at an envelope which had the recommended tip value written on it. I always tip based on the full amount when I purchase a Groupon, Living Social deal, etc. I tipped in the 12-13% range, which received a derisive snort from the man behind the counter. I received a gift certificate here from coworkers. My sister and I decided to go together for mani/pedi's- we called and made appointments ahead of time. There weren't any other customers there when we were. They wanted us to give them all of our medical history, which I didn't feel was appropriate or necessary for a mani/pedi. We had pedicures first- no chair or anything, just a bucket on the floor, not really a 'spa' experience. Then when we had our nails done and waiting for them to dry, they shut the lights on us to close because they forgot we were there. I wouldn't recommend to friends or go back. read more

We also did the dealfind discounted package for two (two sixty min massages and two facials for $149 - I figured we were essentially getting the facials "for free" particularly since, although decent, this is not a high end spa). To sum it up - something is definitely not right behind the scenes. Let me cut to the chase and tell you about the sketchiest parts: 1. Walk in - zero other customers at eleven on a Saturday. Notice that there are barely any nail polish colors by the manicure station and hardly any products on their shelves to offer to customers. 2. Actual appointment: first they had us undress together without any divider (um, okay, european?). The massage and facials were not bad but we weren't certain the products were actually organic (the toner smelled suspiciously like alcohol). While the lobby was loud from road traffic the treatment room was quiet except for a man who was taking outside the room loudly (possibly angrily) in another language during part of the time. 3. Post treatment service: so we walk out of the treatment room directly into where the two therapists and the strange man are standing. It felt tense and no one was speaking - it was as if we walked into something they didn't want us to hear. Ignoring this I pause as i see one of the therapists pouring water, which I mistakenly thought was for us as is customary after a massage. Wrong. The woman pouring stops and pushes us (literally and quite forcefully) into the lobby. So much for water or the bathroom - I never did get either. Next the woman leads us to the desk where I expect them to try to sell us their products. Wrong again. The woman demands (yes demands) a tip. Okay, fine. So I slip $60 in figuring two sixty min massages were with about 75 each plus two facials about 50 - 75 each (300 total value that we aid $149 for). Wrong yet again. The woman pulls it out, counts it in front of me, and then questions me about it. When I confirm its $30 each for a tip she then demands another $20 saying the tip had to be $81 dollars. What?!?! Stupid me, shocked, and a bit concerns for this woman's safety (I have no evidence that there was duress except for an unarticulable feeling) paid the Additional $20 and high tailed it out of there. They did not try to sell us anything or get our repeat business...it was kind of like they didn't want it... I only gave it a star because yelp makes you give at least one. read more

I've been to Spring Rain five or six times for massages with Natalya, and they have all been great. She listens to what you have to say about problem areas and injuries, and she seems to be very intuitive about which areas to work. I've had many massages in my life, and I really think she's a good masseuse. Spring Rain recently moved to a new location, 1345 Main St, I believe. It is a bigger and nicer setting. I never heard kids screaming at their last location like other commenters did, but it was kind of hidden in the back of a strip mall. The new spot is better. It's not a high-end luxury spa, but it's very nice and clean. The management of the spa seems a little loosey goosey, which was slightly off-putting the first time I came in. But they've all been very nice, and they have reasonable prices. Their schedule is usually very flexible, and you can often book same-day appointments. Natalya likes to do cupping occasionally during the massage (creating vacuum suction in a cup that she rubs along trouble spots to increase circulation). I think it helps, but it's definitely a different experience, and it leaves bruises (like hickeys) that I wasn't expecting the first time. She asked me if I wanted to try it, and I'm sure you can say no if it's not your thing. Overall: big thumbs-up. Definitely recommend for massages. read more

I was a bit scared from the reviews, but decided to call anyways, because of the great deal. However, I ended up canceling my appt. I was left with an uncomfortable feeling after calling. A man answered the phone very short with his words, I asked a question about pricing and he handed the phone to a woman without warning, the woman was very short and quick with words as well. I just graduated from Esthetic school, so I called this place for a job. The owner/main esthetician told me to come into work next day. Upon arrival, I thought I'd be introduced on how to use the equipments and the products; she told me to just wing-it a full body massage on a couple, because she only had 1 massage therapist. Then she told me to wing it again on waxing bikini; I told her I have never used a roller in a salon setting. The roller was disgusting; it got pubic hair all over it because she used that same roller on everyone's pubic and underarm areas. What happened to sanitation?!?! Minor bleeding is a normal occurrence when waxing the bikini or underarm area, so I'd be leery of any salon that uses a roller for your bikini wax. Roller on bikini area hurts too much and is difficult to clean. Needless to say, I was out of there immediately. read more

My friends got me a gift certificate for a prenatal massage. I was thrilled to go and also scheduled a polish change, since at 39 weeks pregnant, I can't really reach my toes. Sadly, the whole experience left me more stressed and uncomfortable than when I came in. First off, the parking sucks. It is right on 117 near Bear Hill Rd and I went at 6pm. I messed up parking the first time because I couldn't see the lines and the spots are right on the street, so trying to fix my parking job was stressful since it meant backing up into rush hour traffic. When I get in there I am asked to fill out a form and pick my nail polish color. No problems there, except the color choices are minimal. Maybe that's normal? I've never had anyone else paint my nails before. I'm taken back to the room and the woman tells me that she is going to do my nails first and then give me the massage, but has me undress and get under the covers first. Okay, weird to have my nails painted nude, but fine. She keeps the lights in the room dim, but pulls over a floor lamp that looks like one you would have at the gyno office. Since she needs me to bend my legs to paint my nails, I really get the feeling like I'm at a hospital trying to give birth. I found it very uncomfortable and my hands started sweating like crazy. Not relaxing! She finishes my toenails, but leaves the foam toe separator thing in for the whole massage until the very end when she briefly massages my feet. It's not particularly comfortable and again, I'm pregnant, my feet should get a lot more massaging. From there, she starts massaging me, which is basically just a brisk rub down. The massage lasted a long time, but it was like she was trying to rub sunscreen in or something. Nothing that felt like it was relieving sore muscles. And she was still trying to talk to me as she began the massage. She finally stopped when she saw me closing me eyes (I was trying to block her out and go to my happy place!) Other problems: -when she had me get undressed she told me to put my clothes on the chair in the room. She then moved my clothes onto a table. Why not just tell me to put them on a table so you don't have to touch the pile with my underthings? -if you paint nails first, then the room smells like nail polish for the rest of the time you are in there. She did turn on the fan when she was done, but it was still stinky and now all I could hear was the fan instead of the music meant to relax me. -her nails were a little long and they kept scraping me when she rubbed my back -almost the whole massage was that fast paced rubbing, no extra pressure on knotted muscles -she didn't ask if I was comfortable until halfway through the massage -when she had me lay on my left side, she didn't put a pillow between my legs -when she had me on my right side, she did put a pillow between my legs, but it didn't have a cover and was made of vinyl and too big. It felt sticky with the oil on my legs and I wondered if that was really hygienic. -I had to ask for a towel to support my belly while on my side -the massage oil felt and smelled like baby oil. I looked at the bottle after and it wasn't Johnson's, but I still left feeling like an oiled pig -the foot cream she used smelled like cheap fake vanilla -she tried to rub down my spine and the place she pressed hardest was my shoulder joint -they advertise that the massage therapist was a midwife. She was 20 years ago. In Latvia. and clearly doesn't remember what it's like to be pregnant. -Their sign says it is an organic spa. I did not see one organic product in the whole place I spent the whole time wondering when it would end and trying to distract myself from thinking "why is she doing that?" and "how can this be so terrible?" I kept wishing I was at the last place I had a massage. At one point I was envisioning walking up and down the aisles of the grocery just to distract myself from thinking about how unpleasant the experience was. Finally, the bathroom sucked. I don't usually care about bathrooms, but when at a spa, you expect a nice commode. Not here. It's super small (I had trouble fitting in front of the toilet with my pregnant belly). The toilet has a bidet - weird. The walls are the color of a bad hospital and the soap was that smelly orange antibacterial crap (from Market Basket). I couldn't wait to leave. I felt more sore and stressed when I left than when I arrived. The only plus side - my toenails are cute. Would NOT recommend to anyone. I could have gotten a better massage from my husband at home, and as much as I love him, he's really not a great masseuse. read more

I was given a $100 gift certificate to this place from a family member and I pray that never happens again! I wish I had read the reviews posted on Yelp first, I probably would have thrown the certificate away...but I didn't so I went. This was by far the worst experience I have ever had, all the negative reviews are SPOT ON. Down to the owners being rude and the spa being CREEPY! When you walk in there are used clothes and shoes hanging around for sale, no salon products to purchase and did not smell like a salon or massage parlor of any kind. I was scheduled for a mani/pedi at 11 am Saturday, thought it would have been busy but I was the only person there for 1 1/2 hours. I first walked in and the owner asked me for my gift certificate, I feel that should have waited until checkout but whatever. Then I was asked to fill out a medical questionnaire about my health, too many questions, not necessary for mani/pedi. I was asked to pick out a color out of a small collection of polishes - I shook a bottle to see the true color and was spoken to sharply saying not to shake the bottle, to roll the bottled in my hands - "I need to educate the customer". Really?! Then I was pointed to a flippin WICKER chair that was so uncomfortable and to put my feet in a DISH PAN!!! Seriously?! I figured, ok, maybe this is some special European spa pedicure and maybe I'm in for a treat. NOPE! The products used were AVON! AVON?!! I couldn't believe it, a little scrub here - a little washing there, and DONE. Then when it came to putting the color on I had to put both feet on her lap, actually her knees - so uncomfortable on my back. I asked her if I could put one foot down while she does the other, she grabs my foot forcefully and slams it back onto her knee and says to keep both feet there. OMG, I was livid. The polish application looks like crap, like a little girl did it, not neat and nail polish was on the skin. My toes have the dead shin/cuticles that should have been trimmed away and a day later my feet look terrible - PATHETIC!! Should I both to move onto the manicure? The manicurist told me that I'm too lazy with my nails, that I should use oils to keep them from breaking...LAZY?! Did you just call a customer LAZY?! Previously I had asked for an upper lip waxing, I figured to use up the certificate. Well my manicurist was rushed by the owner who does the waxing, she wanted to wax me before her next appointment, she kept telling the manicurist to hurry up, arguing back and forth in Russian, finally she took me mid manicure to back room for waxing - creepy rooms. While I was being waxed the manicurist finished my mani while I was laying on the bed being waxed - I was LIVID - but I also was so happy that they were rushing thru it so I could get the heck out of there! Again the dead cuticles and terrible polish uneven application, I'm embarrassed to show my nails. $85 to walk thru creepsville! ($75 mani/pedi and $10 waxing) I can get a complete, well done mani/pedi for $37! They gave me a $15 credit to use towards next service, I asked if I could use for tip, of course not - I have already thrown the credit out. I left the tip of $12 rolled up on the counter and RAN out of the door, I will never go back or recommend to anyone even for FREE. They obviously don't care to improve because if you read the reviews on Yelp they have been this way for years! I went for a massage with Natalya and it was fantastic. Her prices are very reasonable and I will definitely go back for another massage or maybe a facial. As others mentioned, there is a children's daycare right next store (it shares a wall with the spa). I could hear the kids a little during the massage, but it was pretty quiet overall so it wasn't a big deal. read more

Hm... let's say 4.5, not quite a 5 cuz it wasn't superb fantastik, but it was good. I've been twice to the old location (next to the day care center in that tiny strip mall). I'm not sure how I stumbled upon it... probably when I was at the copy center waiting for my copies, I walked around and saw it and went in and got a pamphlet of their services. I was looking for a new spa to get a brazilian wax, since my old place, the lady I liked wasn't there anymore. Well, my first visit there, I got waxing done. I think I got brazilian, legs, and underarm. That was my first and only ever time getting an underarm wax... oh boy, did that hurt. She asked if I wanted to try it, and I said "sure". Now I know. But the brazillian was pretty normal, very comparable to all the other experiences I've had. I mean, it's never pleasant, but it wasn't terrible. The second time I went to this spa, I booked online and got a 10% discount. I got the lymph massage which they had been advertising on their email newsletter (I probably got added to that mailing list after my first visit when I filled out that form). The lymph massage was advertised as a cleansing the body type of massage... and I felt a tickle in my throat, a potential cold coming on, so I thought "why not go in for a detox massage?" I like massages, and I like the idea of detox. Well, the "massage" wasn't so much a massage, which the lady did explain at the beginning and I went ahead with it anyway. It was more that she applied cinamon oil all over my body very lightly. It turns out I discovered that day that I had a slight allergy to cinamon... I sorta discovered it right after I left. Totally not her fault. And it led me to know that I shouldn't eat cinamon flavored cereals... which I also had that week that confirmed my new found allergy. I guess you need to be covered in something to know if you are slightly allergic to it if you had no idea all your life. read more
