There are several different places to park and a few different entrances, depending on whether you're interested in the fields, the playgrounds, the disc golf or the trails. So much to choose from! I went for the trails, which is connected to the W&OD that is 40-plus miles long and Four Mile Run. So, pick the one you'd like, and loop around back to your parking spot. I really like this park! You can also find a bench and just hang out near some trees or the fields. You can bring a blanket and toss around a frisbee and have a little picnic. You can bring your children and let them run around and play. What a find in NoVa!

I have many fond memories of supervising playmates building houses with sticks and branches while chatting with mom friends. Where I am from most playgrounds do not have sandboxes but in this area, it's hard to visit a park without one. Since the park is small, it gets crowded. We ended up leaving after about 90 minutes because it was getting harder to socially distance. There is a jungle gym for little kiddos near the sandbox and on the other side, one for bigger kids. I love that it is all mulch which makes it a softer blow on falls. The equipment seems older here, but no kids I know would care about that. There are bathrooms as well as picnic tables, a large grass field, and basketball courts. Parking is on-street and can be tricky. We both enjoyed Lacey Woods and will add it to our park rotation.

Wow, really beautiful park connected to the WO&D trail. They have a sand volleyball court,…read moremanicured grass soccer field, and grass softball field, restrooms, a covered pavilion, and a kids playground with a fence around it. The park is well kept, I was really impressed. The playground equipment was in good standing with nothing being broken. There were swings, slides of various sides, a sand pit (which wasn't that nice but was okay), and a great merry go round. If this park gets boring, you can simply walk over to the other side of the interstate and see Bon Air park. There is a path going under the interstate that connects them. It's great because there is a lot of shade and there's even a shade garden in Bon Air park, as well as more restrooms and barbecue pits. There is also plenty of parking for this park. There's a parking lot and I'm sure you can also find spots in the neighborhood or even on the other side of the interstate adjacent to Bon Air park, if you are really desperate to find a spot and don't mind a short walk. My kids had an absolute blast at this playground. We will definitely be coming back!

There are several entrances. We entered off the Sanger Ave entrance next to the Nature Center. There's lots of informational signs along the trail, explaining all of the different things to be on the lookout for, including plants, flowers, birds, and other species you may encounter. There's a paved and unpaved trail that runs along a creek. I usually keep an AirPod in and listen to music or audiobook, but there were so many earthly sounds that made me want to walk in silence and take in everything nature was offering.

The trails are mostly wide enough for 3 adults, and mostly flat with gentle slopes. The trail ran along a wide gorge creek, and we came across several families enjoying the outdoors. It's easy enough to navigate, and connects multiple nearby neighbourhoods. I appreciate this green space being maintained and freely available to the community.

We did a round of mini golf, which was nice. The course is mostly well maintained, though one of the holes near the end could use some work since it is a giant pit, with some cobblestone rocks acting as steps that lead down to the hole. It was a little difficult to maneuver, and I just ended up having to get one of my younger brothers to get my ball for me. Most of the holes were well down and the place had a nice grass and water feature aesthetic. Definitely something we wanted in the city. We then admired the obstacle course because it looked awesome. Climbing across surfboards dangling in the sky, bright colors. It looked awesome. We opted not to try it out this time though. We then went for a little walk on a trail. They aren't very well marked, the signs look like someone keeps knocking them down, and all of the trails sort of overlap and are visible from the others since it is literally just a little acre-ish area in the middle of the city. There was also an overflowing trash can that smelled awful, next to someone's abandoned lawn chair on the trail, but nothing a quick cleanup of the area can't fix. It is rather warm being down in a sort of gully, so I would love to see it again when all the trees are green, hopefully that would provide some nice shade. We then went to the playground and it was really nice and well-maintained, and I had to use the restroom which was IMMACULATE. This was by far the nicest playground bathroom I have ever been in, and nicer than most store and restaurant restrooms I have been in. There is also a waterpark that wasn't open yet for the season, and a large blue building that serves as the entrance to the water park, and I do wish that it had a large sign that said something to the effect of "Restrooms are in here, even when the waterpark isn't open" since we were trying to find a restroom for my 5 year old nephew after we had left the playground bathroom, and assumed that the swim building was closed, so we ran him across the parking lot to the obstacle course building assuming it would be in there, and were a little worried when we had to run him across the street when we learned it was in the blue swim building. Overall, this was a really lovely and completely unexpected outing in the middle of a crowded city. This will very likely be on our itinerary next time we have to kill time in DC.

The…read moretoddler section is fenced, the school-age area has a spinning seat and a taller slide with climbing equipment. The swing set has infant seats which is great if you have crawlers. One of my gripes is that the sections are a little spread so when I had my infant in the swing, the toddler was on the slide so you didn't have a great view on the playgrounds. Minor things but nothing serious. Keep in mind that this park is street parking only and no restrooms.

The entire kids playground area is fenced in, they have public bathrooms right next to it (currently closed for the winter), there is a sheltered eating area, basketball court, and soccer field next to it. And did I mention how awesome the playground itself is?? There is also a small dedicated parking strip as well as street parking through the neighborhood. The play structures are made to look like wooden treehouses, and even have little hidden creatures carved into the trees (which were super fun for my daughter to try and identify.) there's a "big kid" structure and a little kid one -- although the slide on the little kid one is still really fast! Fair warning, haha. I like that once the kids get up towards the top of the big kid slide it's completely enclosed by netting, although the level underneath has a lot of places where smaller babes could fall off, so just keep an eye on your littler climbers. There is one of those netted rope tire swings as well as a couple of baby swings, a double-seated see-saw, and an natural play space area with branches and sawed logs and stuff where kids can build and get creative. I'm a huge fan of Madison Manor and will absolutely be back soon!

Nice little spray ground and park with a fairly good variety of play equipment and options (in…read moreaddition to the spray ground on the left side of the entrance, there's also a large sand pit/play area, a couple swing sets, several other smallish but adequate climbing structures, open grass spaces, covered picnic table area, and other elements I can't quite remember at the moment. None of these are particularly amazing or updated like the fancy new stuff at many other playgrounds in the area, but all work perfectly well for kids (and parents) looking for a place to simply run and play. The area is fenced and gated (with a relatively child proof or at least child resistant locking mechanism) which I like a lot and wish all parks offered. I did not walk all the around to the back of the grassy area on the other side of the picnic structure to check to see if the fence went all the way around the entire park though, so I can't speak to the full "security" of the park overall, but it definitely seems securely fenced on the street side where all or most of the actual playground equipment is located, and I was able to watch my three kids play in different areas on either side fairly easily from my vantage point at the central picnic structure. It's not my kids' first choice of park in the area, given so many other nearby options like Quincy, Oak Grove, Woodstock, Woodlawn, Mosaic Park, Madison Manor and others, but it's a perfectly nice neighborhood park with a number of enticing elements like the spray ground, sand pit play area, covered picnic shelter, and several tennis and basketball courts. This is definitely for the 5 and under crowd IMO. There are no big slides, no extensive climbing apparatuses. There's 2 baby swings and 2 big swings. There's a large sand pit that includes an excavator for digging and a play kitchen. There is a 3 person seesaw and a tiny pirate ship. There are two small slides. The centerpiece is supposed to be a solar system themed spray park. Currently you can climb on the "planets". Water fountains are working. There are tennis courts and a small bike circle. If you have bigger kids, go elsewhere but this is perfect for toddlers!
