The Nuvo Hotel & Suites is not your typical hotel experience. And I mean that in every positive way…read morepossible. The hotel is located right in downtown Calgary, within walking distance from all the amenities we needed (truth be told, that included the shopping market and a liquor store, but I'm sure your mileage will vary). It earns its designation as a Boutique Hotel from its unique design. The hotel was originally an apartment (condo?) building and converted to nightly suites. What does this mean? It means that each suite is laid out as NOT-hotel-eque as you can get; specifically: they have a full (and pots, pans, dishes & cutlery stocked-) kitchen, in-suite laundry washer/dryer, dishwasher and beautiful open design. I could go on and on about how amazing the room looked (and how wonderful the in-floor heating felt), but I just cannot get over the in-suite kitchen. I had no idea how much of a difference that makes when staying somewhere; a huge chunk of the cost of travelling is having to eat out for every single meal. At the Nuvo, you have a Safeway right across the street and the freedom to cook whatever you want to eat right in your own room. The bed's were amazing, each room has its own little balcony (not much of a view...but nice enough to sit on and enjoy the sounds of downtown & fresh air) and we have spent a considerable amount of time hunting for whatever pillows they use there - they're that comfortable. All of this, and their prices are still affordable. They cost more than a typical Super 8, but it's worth it for the décor alone. We managed to get a good deal, and combined with taking advantage of the kitchen, what you save in eating out could easily put them at the same price as any generic hotel chain. The only trouble we had was checking in after hours - we were given the wrong door code. We managed to get a hold of someone who gave us the right code; and we were good to go from there. So if you are checking in after-hours, double check you have both the outer door code AND your room door code. That hiccup aside, the Nuvo is still the only hotel I'll stay at in Calgary.

Their shuttle picks up all day long and was a very comfortable ride from the Calgary airport to the hotel. Driver was very kind and helpful and it was very convenient for our party of 6. We were allowed to leave our luggage at the hotel which was a very nice benefit and took their shuttle back to the airport where we took a bus from the airport into downtown. Rooms were very clean and spacious. The fitness center here is clean and well maintained. It is certainly possible to get a full body workout here. There are two hot tubs here which is nice but please note they are open only for limited hours. The beds are comfortable and the restaurant here is great as well which is where you can have a delicious complimentary breakfast. Everything about this hotel was greatand we are planning to return and stay here for our final night in Canada during our trip to Banff. 5 stars easily and a thank you to all staff. Two thumbs up!

The bathroom was very clean along with towels and everything that they usually provide with. The only thing that was a bit of a downfall is that our room was facing the Main Street and the cars and noise level was a bit loud. I'm a light sleeper so that can be a bit much for someone like me but I sleep with a sound app and it wasn't a big issue but just in case someone is a very light sleeper maybe get a room facing the parking lot towards the back of the Inn. WARNING: Hidden Damage, Misrepresentation, and a $30,000 Loss…read moreWe purchased a CanDream Inc's used motorhome from ArrKann RV (Rocky View) after being assured by Eva Moser and Brock Simmons that it was "like brand new," fully inspected, and in excellent condition. That was not true. On pickup -- after driving 800 km -- we found multiple obvious issues: torn mattress, missing parts, cracked and unsafe tires, leaking hot water tank, dead TV, electrical problems, and a large stain above the driver's seat that staff called "soap residue." This stain was later proven to be long-term water damage. Months later we were accidentally given CanaDream Inc's internal service history, which ArrKann RV never disclosed. It showed repeated roof leaks and repairs in the exact areas we questioned on day one. None of this was disclosed before the sale. The tires were especially alarming. Despite "passing" an Alberta inspection, they were cracked deep into the tread. Neither ArrKann Rv nor CanaDream Inc. could explain how the inspection signed off on them. We still never received a clear answer. What followed were repeated 860 km trips for repairs -- all at our own cost -- with the motorhome sitting unusable for months while leaks continued. Repairs were delayed, incomplete, or undocumented. We were denied copies of repair records because ArrKann RV and CanaDream Inc. claimed everything was handled through their "internal agreement." ICBC later informed us the motorhome was still registered to CanaDream, meaning ArrKann sold it before it was even properly transferred. After 14 months, when we tried to trade the unit in, an independent dealer found major structural roof damage and hidden repair work that made the unit worth far less. We lost over $30,000 because of undisclosed issues. Stay way from thesis dealerships if you want truth and honesty, you will only be deceived!

Complementary tea was unpackaged that must have come from a bulk bag. 6. If you had any complaints or decide to check out early, you will not be given a refund. 7. Front desk/office closes at 12am. 8. Bed (king) was uncomfortable, was able to feel the springs. This is a older but "newly" renovated hotel. If you are looking for a nice place, I suggest you go to Days Inn or Super 8 that are located next to this hotel.
