I am so happy to see that Ann is still the owner. We made an appointment online, and on the day of our appointment Carol took care of us. I was able to bring 3 of my closest friends with me to my appointment, and there was seating provided for them while they waited to see the gowns. We were directed where to look for gowns my size, and were given so many wonderful options. Overall I tried on 6-7 dresses, and never felt rushed or pressured to make a purchase. The appointment lasts for 90 minutes total. Carol took care of us by listening to comments and observations, and then made suggestions and recommendations to try. I put my full trust in Carol, because thanks to her recommendations I found a dress that made me FEEL like a bride! I was there to try on different silhouettes, and while I did not say yes to the dress (yet), I believe they serve champagne once you purchase a gown. Their prices are very reasonable, and they will ask you for your budget so that they can direct you where to look on the racks and make realistic recommendations. If your budget is $5,000 or less, then this shop has the selection for you! I cannot wait to come back to check out their other options (mother-of-the bride gowns, especially), and take another look through their gorgeous gowns.

I bought rainbow colored fake eyelashes for some party I don't even remember, but I do remember my friend gluing my eye shut during application. In short, you can rely on Bittner's for all of your costume needs however simple or elaborate.

Yet it makes sense - why not, its all just clothing, and arguably isn't formal wear a costume of a different kind? (ooo I'm deep hah!) I've never actually purchased or rented either type of costume here, partly because I'm a firm believer in creating my own Halloween costumes and partly because, well I'm female and don't generally come across an event where I would need to be decked out in a tuxedo. I have, however, spent many an hour here over the years perusing the merchandise. Its a great place just to get some ideas, or even just pick up some accessories. The staff here is friendly and helpful and its location on West End makes it incredibly convenient. I can't really say anything about their prices as I don't really know what the clothing rental market is like, but their quality seems to be right on and I've known anyone to have a bad experience here. Obviously there are certain times of the year when they are more popular, so if you're shopping for something at those times, I'd suggest getting the jump on it early or you might find yourself with some limited options.

I told them I wasn't sure what size I wore, and instead of measuring me, they just gave me two dresses to try on. I was only given two dresses to try on, with no effort to find a different one, neither of the dresses were what I was looking for, but they assured me they could order what I needed. They made me pay for a third of a dress that they didn't have in the store and that I had no idea what it would like. So, I paid them 83 dollars.. 6 weeks went by before they told me that my dress had arrived. Then, it was a nightmare to get an appointment to come try it on. When I finally got an appointment when I went to the shop they told me they were busy because a bunch of girls had just come to try on prom dresses and to come back in an hour, If I made an appointment, I don't think that girls trying on dresses should have mattered... Well, I came back in an hour, and guess what? They ordered the wrong dress. No problem, they told me they could get me the right one. Polly told me she KNEW the dress was wrong, but apparently just didn't say anything and wanted to waste my time by having me come in. WEEKS went by before the new dress came in. I made an appointment to go try it on, and guess what? It's too big and I HATE it. I should not have ordered a dress without knowing what it would look like. I asked Polly to add sleeves to it, this apparently took her another 2 weeks... I finally went home with my dress April 23rd after ordering it in the first week of January. The dress is ugly, the alterations are horrible, and somehow it got damaged in the shop. Best of all I paid over 200 dollars for something I hate simply because I had no other options given that the wedding is this week. I'm pretty sure the dress is going to fall apart at the wedding because someone the seams at the top are coming apart despite it only being tried on once, and the sleeves are badly sewn on, and uneven. I should feel beautiful in this dress, but on the most important day of my best friend's life I am just going to feel like a loser in an ugly messed up almost 300 dollar dress..
