I've lived at Spring Creek for 14 months and I love my home! apartments are large and gorgeous with air conditioning. we have a new Chef and the food is great and the staff, caregivers and med techs are wonderful. come visit! I love this place and I love the residents. read more

My father lived here a few months back, we had moved him to be closer to my sister from Olympic Place in Arlington. When we moved him we figured that since it was also a Bonaventure owned facility we would receive the same services and help as we did in Arlington, but it was far from that. While I had initially had high hopes for Spring Creek, it was ultimately disappointing. The facility is clean and feels new. The various amenities are nice looking (theater room, "den" with pool table, salon) and the move in process was very easy. Unfortunately, the care leaves you wondering what you are paying for beyond a room and meals. I will qualify my review that my dad ultimately needed more care than Spring Creek could offer in Assisted Living. That being said the level of care we arranged, which revolved around changing and laundering his bedding daily, happened inconsistently and not in accordance with our contract. Room cleaning was inconsistent and often missed messes in the bathroom, trash was never emptied, I overhead a staff tell that some folk shave waited for a couple of weeks because of staffing issues. Because these issues were ongoing, my family and I often took the sheets and washed them at home, and cleaned the room up for him. The staff are a mystery. The management and supervisor level staff are fairly responsive, but they seem unable to consistently communicate in a timely manner. The caregivers on the other hand are a very mixed bag. There are clearly some who are committed to helping residents and are working really hard. Unfortunately there are several staff who don't understand how to be professional in their work. The icing on the cake was the caregiver who had his mask off and roaming the halls while we were moving my father's belongings out, while we may be winding down precautions for COVID-19, if you are a working in a health care setting its part of your job to follow the simple protocols of mask wearing--especially in a place that is full of our highest risk community members. Spring Creek might be a good fit for your loved one if they don't need a lot of care and you have the ability to visit often and check on the services. There are some caring and dedicated staff there, but the inconsistent delivery of care is frustrating. read more

In my first breath, I would beg you with every ounce of strength I have not to put your loved one at Spring Creek. But in the next breath I would suggest that you not put your loved one at any retirement/assisted living facility. I worked at Spring Creek first in a lower position, and then in a higher position, and I loved the residents and the staff, but the company who owns and runs Spring Creek (Bonaventure) is purely, and I truly mean 100% about money, and nothing else. I can't speak personally for other comparable places, but my understanding from speaking to others in the industry is that they are all the same. So the things I'm about to tell you can probably be said for any other place such as this. I'm going to make this a lot briefer than I could, because I don't want to tip off to Bonaventure who I am, lest they come after me with their deep pockets and lawyers, but I'll say this: There is high turnover for a reason. They deliberately understaff and underpay so they can use the fact that the staff is in upheaval as an excuse to the residents about why they are not getting the service and treatment they expect and are paying for. And they are paying a LOT. $2500 per month is a good average, but I knew of residents paying over $4000 and even over $6000 for couples PER MONTH to live there. And for that they are getting a tiny room/apartment, an undertrained and underpaid staff who is verbally abused by the upper management, and who are working under impossibly unrealistic expectations. In my time at Spring Creek, the Dining Service Manager was constantly in tears over the residents yelling at them, but it wasn't their fault. They work with such a severely limited budget and guidelines on what they can serve, and staff to serve it in a timely manner, there is no way they can improve on the situation. Despite Bonaventure being out of state, they keep people hands-on in the building, and there is no decision so small that they don't oversee it. In response to any complaints by the residents, they speak flowery words, make excuses for why things aren't up to par, and rely on the seniors' faulty memories not to recall that it has always been like this. The two pluses I will give are these: it is a nice building, and has a feel to it like a cruise ship. But that is how they suck you in. Also, MOST (I can't speak for all) of the more "menial" employees really do care. BELIEVE ME - they would not suffer through the conditions they are under and treatment they must endure by this company were it not for their big hearts. But their big hearts are not enough to untie their hands and allow them to actually help people. Bonaventure doesn't want to help anybody, but only pad their own fat wallets. I gave Spring Creek 2 stars just for these 2 pluses I've described, but it was a very painful and difficult thing to do. I truly believe it is your responsibility to care for your loved ones. You can find a loving person or people to come to your home for what you're paying Bonaventure, if you can't do it yourself. And if you really can't deal with your parent or grandparent in your own home, you can find a small Adult Family Home to place them in that gives much more personal care than these retirement/assisted living homes can ever do. The only other thing I will say, and it's not a plus or minus, per se, but just to add to my experience... Bonaventure relies on the faulty memories of seniors for a reason... because most of them DO, in fact, have faulty memories. In my time there, a lot of residents really did seem happy, so you should be warned that even if your loved one is saying everything is fine there, that doesn't mean that it is. And you should not let them saying that it is ease your conscience about leaving them there. My own loved one hates to be a bother, so rarely says what's troubling them, if they happen to remember it at all. But I know because I am involved. Be involved. Be aware. Beware. read more

I wish I had read the first review of Spring Creek on this website before I moved my Parents there. Spring Creek is truly a HORRIBLE place. The owners are greedy, uncaring and totally indifferent to the residents and their families. It is true that there are some kind and caring employees there but there is only so much they can do. The food is worse than prison food. The department of public health should be notified. (I found nails in my food last time I joined my Folks for dinner there.) And nails or not, the food is old, improperly cooked and all around inedible. The staff is overworked and cannot give the residents a fraction of the attention they need. The cost is exorbitant. The management will find any way possible to charge more and more for their inadequate services. Needless to say I am in the process of moving my Parents OUT. I have found a family owned assisted living home in the area and am pretty sure it will be a huge improvement. Organizations like Spring Creek are preying on seniors and care NOTHING for their well being. Please do not allow anyone you know to move there. read more

1. My parents pay for and depend on two meals a day from the Dining Room. The operations of the dining facility is unacceptable. They have gone through 3 cooks in a 3 month period and many wait staff. If the food arrives after an hour of sitting it's late cold and half the time not what was ordered. The Dining Room was actually closed for a period of time after an inspection with no financial relief to the residents that pay for this service. I believe this is criminal and my parents and every other person staying there that pays for this service is being ripped off. My expectation is that my parents get what they pay for or financial adjustments are made to compensate them when dining service are not available. I also expect that when the food is delivered, it is delivered timely and at the temperature it should be. 2. The television in my parents room sat there for weeks until someone found in the hallway went and got a cable box that "might work...after all most of them are broken." This went on for weeks until it was resolved and then immediately broke again. My expectation is that they get a working cable box. 3. If you look around, there is no one available to assist with folks moving in and helping them with TV boxes that work. I personally went to find a plunger for their toilet since there was an emergency and walked the entire building and saw no one in charge. There are no emergency supplies in any closets. They are all bare. My parents later had a very short orientation and their comments and requests were ignored then and continue to be ignored now. My expectation is that my parents aren't patronized, that they have access to necessary equipment like a plunger and that they are respected. We have repeatedly asked for help and issue complaints. My sister, my brother, my wife and my parents have all given feedback and have tried desperately to exercize every possible method to give feedback, ask the right questions and demand resolution to no avail. My parents have no alternative other than to move again and that is not fair to them, or anyone else who lives there for that matter. My parents are at the end of their life. They understand what is going on and are not blind to bad treatment. The treatment they give the people that live there is not only unacceptable, its abuse and robbery. I have reported this story to King 5 News Investigators and I have not received a response. read more

After signing all paperwork and paying a huge amount of money, 5 days later we received the news that Dad would not be coming home. We were never given a copy of the paperwork we signed (and we have since requested it but have not received it yet) so were told since we did not give 30 days notice they were not going to return any of our funds, even though no one ever moved in. At the very least we feel we should receive the $3500 "Community Fee" back, and to date have not received any kind of acknowledgement from them. The girl we were dealing with was pre-occupied with a zoom meeting from Louisiana that was at the same time as our meeting....rushed us through the paperwork process and like I said, never gave us a copy. Most likely their quality of care is probably acceptable, but administration is money-hungry and has left us feeling robbed. DO NOT MOVE INTO SPRING CREEK! They are consistently understaffed, unable to provide services for residents for which they pay BIG money for. Management as well as staff are constantly changing, the food is awful. The bottom line- Spring creek absolutely takes advantage of senior citizens. Absolutely beautiful community in a great location. My family member can walk to shopping and the community has great walking paths. I was amazed with the staff and how great they were. My mom is relocating to this state and she can't wait to move to this community. I looked at every community in the area and the ones in Ferndale and nothing came close to how beautiful this community was. The apartments are perfect and they have full kitchens so my mom can still cook if she likes. My mom will be moving soon and the staff have made sure that she is already connected with other people that live there. I recommend this place to anyone. I have seen them all and this is #1 in the area. My husband dad has a friend who has lived there for years and thinks that the place is great. He said that he could not think of a better place to live and enjoy life. This is one of the reasons that we decided to look at this community for our mom read more

Never ever ever move a loved one into any Bonaventure facility. I believe anyone above their care staff has to sell their soul to work there. My mother was in the Bellingham, WA Spring Creek memory care facility until recently. Care went downhill quickly several months ago. We were promised great things over and over again. When it came right down to it, what was happening was neglect. Several families called DSHS and reported very low staffing numbers (one caregiver, on her 3rd day working there, alone to care for 16 residents), residents sitting in soiled briefs, and multiple medication errors. There is no doubt in my mind that residents are in danger, not only in memory care but also in assisted living. The owners are scamming vulnerable people when they show off their beautiful buildings and convince residents to move in. They are only selling real estate. They don't care for those people. There's always a sign out front for empty apartments, had my parents there for 6 months, 2012-2013, and am quickly looking for a better facility. The grounds and building a showplaces, designed to lure you in - the staff tries to do it's best, but they are always under staffed with a high turn over. My mom's weekly maid service is hit and miss - once a month is average. The WORST is the food - I've went to eat there with my mom, just to see if things were as bad as she said. We ordered the dinner - a chicken salad with sides. We each got a plate of plain lettuce. Nothing else. The server ran off upset- saying they were out of the chicken. If you've ever sat and watched an elderly parent eat a plate of lettuce for dinner - with a glass of water, and you know she's paying over 3,000 a month for her place, it broke my heart. Then came the dinner with lasagna type noodles, that were RAW - crunchy- so the cook dumped gravy and junk on top - hoping no one would notice. I talked to management for months, and they are always promising to improve, but they operate on a corporate bottom line -profit - if ham is the big bargain food, your loved one will be eating ham 4 or 5 times a week - with no regard to the amount of salt they are consuming. I have watched multiple times, the seniors coming in for dinner, and taking one look at the food, and pushing away the plate - as inedible. Then they go off to the snack area and load up on cookies and bars. This is just the tip of a horrible place. Please, don't get fooled by the fancy buildings, eat there - and look at how dirty the dining room is - and walk around quietly and listen to what the people are saying. Please, please, spend the time really looking at the care - not the glossy brochures and pretty lawns. read more
