Spotts Beach is just the type of tropical beach that makes you feel like you're on vacation. There are beautiful white sands, clear blue water with gentle waves, and palm trees that provide the perfect canopy for relaxation. The sand slopes downward toward the water and the beach area is generous, so you have a nice view if you want to sunbathe or relax further away from the shore. There is also a pier for fishing and some picnic benches near the entrance to enjoy your food or drinks. It's quiet and there's never really a huge crowd--no matter what time of day. It may not be as pristine as Seven Mile Beach, but SB has much more to offer in the way of seclusion and character. My favorite part of this beach is definitely the snorkeling. It's fairly shallow and the waves are pretty calm so it's perfect for exploring and especially for young swimmers. There are not many places on the island that you are guaranteed to see a sea turtle, but at Spotts Beach it's practically a given! I'm fairly certain we hit every major snorkeling spot around Grand Cayman and this is definitely one of my favorites because I've had a deep affection for sea turtles since I was a little girl. They swim a little fast (so try and keep up!) and you're likely capture some great photos with an underwater camera. Some of the reefs here have an interesting mixture of wildlife--we saw 23 reef squid and many varieties of tropical fish and coral. We even came across a poisonous flamingo tongue snail on a purple sea fan, but I personally think the best part of SB is encountering the beautiful the sea turtles in their natural habitat. read more
