My sister wanted to order a Lamington cakes for my birthday. Brian made sure I was shipped what my sister had ordered; the six individual cakes that are wrapped(I thought it was the cake). However, UPS in their divine wisdom, deemed it necessary to ship them on a scenic tour. They didn't arrive on time for my birthday but that was NO FAULT of the bakery's. I want that to be perfectly clear. I reached out to Brian and while I was disappointed that I wouldn't get them on time he was so kind and empathetic that I couldn't stay upset for long. Again, I thought it was the regular cake and not the individual ones. Brian said he would ship replacements but once I saw they were the individual ones and confirmed they were still fine to eat, I was happy, my sister was happy, all was well. But Brian wasn't having it, he was unhappy that UPS failed us both. Imagine my surprise when a few days later I received another box of the Lamington cakes! I was not expecting that. I was perfectly fine with the outcome but Brian again is an amazing person and he didn't appreciate that this was a representation of his bakery by UPS's failings. So now I have plenty of Lamington cakes and they are freezable so I put a few away so I can enjoy them later. As far as being true Lamington cake like the original in Australia, it took me right back to Adelaide where I had my very first one! Oh my goodness they're so good! And did I mention they're gluten-free?! I cannot thank Brian and Sans Bakery enough for making my Unbirthday amazing and tickling my palette enough that I sent pictures to my cousin in Melbourne Australia taunting her a little. She can pick them up at the Woolworth. ;-)

Her macarons are creative, detailed, and tastes amazing. It's worth every penny. Go follow her Instagram page, the videos of her making them are so mesmerizing, and would make you appreciate it that much more. After seeing pictures of the macarons everywhere, I decided that I had to give it a try. My cousin had a party so we ordered three themed boxes from Amy. We placed it extremely last minute but Amy was understanding and was able to rush the order for us. The macarons were a hit at the party. It entered the door and were gone within 5 minutes. Luckily, I was able to snatch one in time! They tasted amazing and looked perfect. I really wanted to put it in a little box and display it in my room. But nah, had to eat it. I was on a mission to reach their store front before they closed for the night. I was so excited to finally get here to see the adorable and whimsical characters on display. I had previously read that you can customize an order ahead of time should you want a specific character and flavor. Coolness. My choices were partially skewed to what flavors my family and I would enjoy. But also to the cute designs. Vanilla and Chocolate Nutella was a hit with my kids. Hubby liked the lychee and I enjoyed the Black Sesame very much. I have yet to try, but I did buy the Thai Tea and Ube (Yam) flavors. Was too stuffed after dinner to sample them all. BTW, they sell Rebecca's Cake Pops as well. For those that are not familiar, Rebecca's is a mom and pop run local shop in Long Island. The pops are very artistic and trendy. They also taste great. Moist and sweet, as any cake pop should be. Do note: this storefront closes early and it's cash only for the most part. While they accept venmo, they do not accept credit cards. Dang it. Also, it's not an enclosed shop, so check their website to ensure they're open during inclement weather. It's a street stall so the folks have to brave the elements. And management, if you're reading, can you get better boxes to hold these cute confections? I was worried my macarons would not transport well and they did get moved around a bit on my commute.

Paoli and the rest of the staff seem like a good team that is willing to go above and beyond for their clients. and more than willing to come out and do a tasting with you for cakes for big events, and they are very sweet, pun intended. :) The pastries and cakes that I have ordered so far have come on location within the time frame scheduled. (usually a one to two hour window.) , fresh, flavorful, and blemish free. My only gripe is that for special order cakes (Weddings/Sweet 15's/16's, etc) there is a wait list for consultation's/tastings. I'm an anxious person when it comes to that stuff, and I loathe waiting. Although I made an appointment this past March and my appointment is in October of this year, My cake is not needed until September 2015, so I guess it is no big deal. There is a BUT... which is the $150.00 non-refundable consultation fee to meet with Paoli, which is the yikes part and the removal of one star, along with the long wait.
