I am completely shocked by these other reviews. I have 2 kids enrolled in Spotlight and one more on the way that will also be enrolled eventually. I have NEVER had a negative interaction with either owners of Spotlight.
We started at Spotlight in August of 2013. My daughter was 2.5 at the time, and my son was just about to be born. My daughter is VERY shy and I was extremely nervous that this we wouldn't be able to continue with any class. I was so happily surprised when she started with Ms. Teresa and Miss Ashley. Ms. Teresa is amazing with her. I don't know where Teresa gets all of her energy, but she can teach, manage, and love all those little loves for an hour and a half and they are always engaged and come out happy. My daughter has never felt shy with her and has happily has gone in week after week for ballet and tap. Ms. Teresa and Miss Ashley both teach the two classes, so my daughter gets the experience and expertise of both professionals. I'm sure there will come a day when my daughter chooses not to listen, and it will necessitate Teresa or Ashley handling it like any teacher would. THEY are in the dance studio, not me. THEY are working with my daughter on her dance, not me, Therefore, THEY can handle it how they see fit, and I completely trust their judgement.
We have just completed our second year with Spotlight, and my son, now almost two, has started private lessons with Teresa. He is behind on speech and rarely speaks for strangers. I started private lessons to help him get used to other people, hoping he would start vocalizing. (Plus every week watching the fun his sister was having made him go crazy to try to get into the studio!) He did even better. Teresa is SO engaging and SO amazing at what she does, that he happily goes with her without even a push. With prompting, and lots of bubbles, he will happily vocalize for her and do fun actions such a jump, kick, turn, march, and has even done some tumbling. After his mini private lesson he comes out with the biggest grin and will "show off" his new ability for all the other moms in the dance room, including vocalizing!
My heart SWELLS with joy every week when I go and see how much fun my kids are having, how engaged they are, and how much they are learning. I feel so lucky that we have found such a caring studio that truly believes in my children's abilities and pushes them to their absolute best.
I would highly recommend Spotlight Performing Arts for kids of all ages and abilities. It has a very welcoming feel for the parents and the students. read more
