My fiancé and I went on a Wednesday night for the Wednesday wings special. It was our first time so we weren't aware that on Wednesdays, they're only making wings and nothing else. This makes sense though, as we saw many people coming in and ordering so many wings. I'm not sure how they sell their wings on any other day of the week, but Wednesdays they're only selling the wings by 10's. This also includes one sauce per 10, they're not splitting the sauce. So if I want another sauce, I would have to order 10 more. This was fine with me and my fiancé though, as we both loved their wings. We ordered the Garlic Parmesan, 2x Inferno and Asian Cajun. The 2x Inferno had a perfect spice for me as I love to eat spicy food. It was, however, too spicy for my fiancé and he wasn't able to eat more than one. The Garlic Parmesan was a bit more on the salty side but I like to eat salty food and I would say this one was my favorite out of the three. The Asian Cajun was good, it's equivalent to the Asian Zing. I would recommend going earlier in the day if you want to go for a more family-friendly environment. As it gets later, there are more people coming in to have a few beers with their wing. This is a bar so it makes sense that people would come in for beers. The place is a bit small and very limited seating, so I would not advise a big group for dining in. Overall, I now understand why this place is known for the best wings in town and I would definitely go back for more wings. read more

I give this place a 4. We got some Korean food from here and those were good. For a small town like La crosse that does not have Korean food, this will be sufficient to my cravings whenever I need some Korean bbq. The wings were good but not anything too fancy-pancy. A lot of sauce to choose from to dress your wings so that's always good. The only complaint I had was the rice that we received with the Korean bbq. The rice was very very hard. There were some parts to the rice that was basically crusted to the point where you couldn't chew it. I figured it was towards the end of the day and they gave me whatever they had left at the bottom of the rice cooker. Anyways, I had to make my own rice when I got home. This is my only major complaint. But overall, not a bad place. read more

If you are a local, this is a great place if you can get past the odor of either sewer gas or expired food. We were visiting for the Bi-State Wrestling event and decided to stop in. Bartender did not acknowledge us for close to 10 minutes and seemed irritated that he had to serve us, got changed for a double that rally wasn't a double and did not check on us in the 30 minutes we were there. Review is based only on food and for takeout. Best wings in town and some of the most amazing Korean food we've ever had. Our favorite is Special Number 3, which is the sweet potato noodles. Hot wing flavors that we recommend are Asian Zing, Sports Nut Combo, and Cajun Dry Rub. There's a reason they're award-winning and they're priced very well for the area. The wings are naked (not breaded - not to be confused with no sauce). We prefer the wings here, as to other locations in the area, because they are cooked longer (some places, not here, undercook their wings: resulting in rubbery consistency requiring patrons to gnaw the meat off the bone). As other reviews have commented: the employees do come off as cold/distant, Wednesday Wing Night needs work (beer is served in plastic cups and you can only order wings - no fries, curds, etc.), they charge 3% for credit cards, and their kitchen constantly gets backed up. I typically order takeout and my order has only once been ready on time. Two weeks ago, I ordered an advance order (three hours before I planned on picking up the order) and I waited at the bar an extra hour before the order was finished. Finally, just a heads up, Sports Nut is a Bar, not a restaurant; meaning it gets crowded and noisy. Overall, highly recommended for takeout and their daily specials. read more

Ordered two speciality burgers and cheese curds through EatStreet. They forgot to send the cheese curds and both burgers were incorrect. The menu advertised Sourdough buns and instead we got toasted white bread as a bun. I ordered Pepper jack cheese on my burger and got American, my burger was also supposed to come with hot sauce and had none on it. My fiance got the BBQ burger that came with onion rings on the burger, her burger had one onion ring on it. When I contacted The Sports Nut to notify them they forgot our cheese curds, they told me to contact EatStreet about it. EatStreet refunded me for the cheese curds, but I did not receive any apology or an offer to send us our order of cheese curds. I do not think I'll be ordering from here again any time soon. read more

Hands down the best wings in the area. We've tried them from other places, but so far we've not found any like these. Always big, meaty, and cooked perfectly. The sauce selection is wonderful. Being a sports nut and loving wings this place seemed like the perfect fit for me to check out on my visit to La Crosse. They have 17 different flavors and have won La Crosse Wingfest 3 years running. Had the Cajun Dry Rub and they were spectacular. Had to have a Spotted Cow to go with my wings since you Sconni's hog it and won't send it across the river. Girlfriend had a burger and it was alright, just a piece of meat between two pieces of bread. The bar was pretty small and plain. I've been in porta potties bigger than their bathroom but at least it was clean. I would come back again for the wings and a beer but probably not more than that. read more

I will never go back to this place again. Oktoberfest comes every year and their service sucked along with their incompetent staff. Bartenders pour beer that is half foam and you are expected to be satisfied with that . Ordered food and waited forever for it and when questioning them when our food was coming they tell me the order was cancelled and they never had the consideration to tell us or tell us why. The owner should have been there to look over these clowns who don't know how to treat customers. We had good service here despite some shady handling a. We were one of two groups here around midnight on a Saturday night. We were out of town folks and all 21 so not the typical crowd. We were treated like stupid kids and that was not okay. The bartender we had, wearing a Vikings hat, took money off our tab automatically and threw it in his tip jar without telling us. Didn't make a stink about it but am here on Yelp leaving our two cents worth. Tips are earned, and we received pretty shady service at this establishment. My friend is a bartender and was pretty upset about the service. We would not have noticed this if it wasn't for his experience bar-tending. It made sense with the price too... I used to like Sports Nut but I was just aware if there's any event going on these people are completely incompetent. The Torchlight parade in Lacrosse is tonight and that's no surprise anyone who lives around here as known about it for months, but Sports Nut decided to not properly close down their delivery service online even though they've known about this event for months. At about 6 p.m. tonight I placed an order and the order went through. They took my money and as I was tracking it everything was going fine the website was even saying my food was being made. The estimated time for my food arrival is 6:40 p.m. so at 6:30pm I look at my phone again to see how far away they might be and it says my order is cancelled. They didn't try to contact me, they didn't try to let me know even though I left a phone number on the information when I placed my order. I called them and asked why was my order cancelled and their excuse was oh because of an event tonight, they've had all week, all month, all year to prepare for this and they decide to cancel my food order 10 minutes before it's supposed to arrive. That's just terrible business and horrible service. read more

Nearly a year ago, I went in to apply for a job. It took 10 mins before either woman behind the bar acknowledged me. When one of them finally did, I kindly asked if they were looking for any help. The younger woman decides to be COMPLETELY and BELLIGERENTLY rude rather than just answer my simple question with a "No, I'm sorry" I didn't even get a chance to try the food or order a drink but after being treated like this I wouldn't set foot in this establishment! I have been here on Wednesdays before and have had an alright experience and very good wings. Tonight was horrible though. This guy was rude and when I asked for tap water no ice and another drink he takes my money and comes back with the change and a bottle of water. I asked if they served tap water and he says no not on wing special nights and walks away quickly. It is rare to be charged for water in La Crosse and if you are charged you should at least be told ahead of time and given an option ( A note to the owner, you get customers to come back by having good service and not showing greed by charging for water. If you don't make enough on wing night on the wings, raise the price of the wings and don't reflect it in other ways, or else it comes off as greedy). It was also hard to get his attention to get drinks even afterwords when he wasn't serving people. No smile and he ended up losing my friend's debit card. (We found out later tonight that he ended up giving his card to someone else.) Instead of refunding the small 10 dollar tab for losing it, he made another friend pay for his meal. No good vibes here. First bad review I've ever written. You can have the best wings in the world, but if you hire bad service I'll never be back. I'm a bartender myself and that's why they call it the "service" industry. read more
