Sports World is a discount sports clothing shop that sells mainly manufacturers seconds. Although I have to say it is often very difficult to spot why they have been put in the second bin. They sell all the big sports names at hugely discounted price, making some of the better quality sports wear more accessible to all. They also sell the premiership football strips, I imagine it depends on the area, but there is a large range of Liverpool and Manchester United kits in the Barrow store, both the new ones and older strips. They also sell some sports related items, water bottles, football club accessories, bags, pencil cases, top trump cards etc. The store is usually busy and queues can sometimes be a problem, especially at the weekends. read more

Part 1: Made an online purchase of some Lego collectibles that come in their own special and collectible style boxes. Guess how Sports Direct packages your items for the shipping journey? They put them in a non-padded plastic shipping bag. Without padding in the packaging -- my items arrived in a thin plastic bag (easily to be damaged in transit) and all 3 items were damaged. Damaged boxes also lower and impact collector's value. This is shocking they were not put in any sort of box, instead of a plastic bag -- even the plastic bag packaging had holes and rips. Part 2: Customer services was redundant of submitting the customer service website form about the issue with pictures, and then they reply back with an email to restate my entire concern and provide pictures again via email. They insisted that basically this is normal and I can chose to send it back (at my own shipping cost). Their link about "You can find further information regarding online returns by clicking the following link" help.sportsdirect.com/su... does not even work. The vibes: they are not really coordinated or seem willing to help you, and the response feels like "oh well, not our fault." Never ordering from again. Strongly recommend: STAY AWAY! read more

You get what you pay for, which is either good or bad, depending how you look at it. As the other reviewer has mentioned, the store is crammed full of cheap gear, most of it, normal people wouldn't be seen dead wearing because it looks that cheap. Call me a snob, but a business owned by the current Newcastle United chairman, he of lager-swilling qualities, is hardly going for the classy market. Still, there is some fairly reasonable gear hidden away but the point of sports wear is that it should be worn for sport not dossing around the city centre in. read more

This shop is great for filling your case for your holiday and also presents for relatives. Staff are unhelpful and always chatting to each other. Changing rooms are horriable with small metal doors which tall people can look over and see you when they walk past, you also have to find someone to actually open the rooms up as no one is ever guarding them. They dont do cash refunds only exchanges or credit notes unless its faulty. You can find some good bargins but you have to hunt and be quick. read more

Leaving this on behalf of a friend Don't appreciate being accused of theft when I was browsing your shop with a couple of mates I find this very disrespectful and will not be spending any money with you again. No one should have to strip down to prove that unless the accuser is 100% absolutely sure. Worst customer service I have ever received with no reason for it apart from the way I was dressed. read more

Whilst this place might be THE shop to buy the latest chav gear - cheap as hell tracksuit bottoms and hideous patterned tops - it's a craking shop for shoes and kids clothes. So much stuff is amazingly cheap and there is masses and masses of it. The missing star (which would give it 5) is because many of the staff are also chavs and have no idea about anything in the shop. But if you want holiday stuff for the family and are on a budget this is the first place to go. Value! read more

The sportswear in this shop can be quite cheap and they have a good selection of trainers but the clothes are, on the whole, of poor quality and crammed onto rails which too are close together. The staff in the shop appear to resent giving any help (unless I've just been unlucky) and it seems unlikely that they haven't had any training on communicating with customers. This may be because the company are trying to keep costs down are the workers have to settle for poor pay & conditions?? This place is a classic example of getting what you pay for. read more

Most of the sportswear in this shop is cheep and value for money but you hav to be carefull because some things are copies!! Its good to in for if you need some cheep trainers but its like a jumble sale in there as theres cloths everywere. The staff are not very helpfull but they will try and show you were things are if you can find one of them. I wouldnt recomend trying things on because the changing rooms are not that nice and you hav to find a member of staff to open them for you, which may take some time. The store always looks a mess and there is always tags and things on the floor. They hav tried to pack as much clothing in there as possible so some thing you cannot reach, which therefor means you need to get a member of staff to help you which is hard. However the goods that you buy from there are realy cheep so its what most people expect form a store like this. read more

I hate this place, always seem to get dragged in whenever i go to meadowhall. It appears that they've crammed as much as they can onto the bottom layer and there is little space to move about and always seem to be walking into people. Queues can get quite long. The prices are great, as is to be expected with Sports world and service is usually good. read more

I'm a big fan of this place for a couple of reasons. Firstly, they cannot be beaten on price. A few doors either side if this shop are both JJB and JD and if you go into either of these shops and compare prices with Sports World they will be left way behind. Sports World offers a wide range of goods, mainly sporty type clothes. They are the best place to go for football kits, as again they are much cheaper than rivals. What also appeals to me is that they cater for those with larger feet. I can never find my size anywhere but thankfully i can pick up trainers here in my size and at a very reasonable price. The only real problems are that the staff seem pretty oblivious to anything going on around them and I find them generally quite unhelpful. read more

This is one of the largest sports stores in Portsmouth. It sells a large range of sportswear and shoes, as well as sporting equipment. I usually buy my sports clothes here because it is cheap and therefore good value for money. Although the clothes can deteriorate after lots of washes this can be expected when it is used for sports. The staff are helpful and can point you in the right direction if you are looking for something in particular. The store has a cheap and cheerful appearance to it and the vast selection of goods available means it can look quite cluttered. The store is located at the end of Commercial Road so some people may not walk far enough along to find it. read more

I used to shop here a lot and the staff are extremely attentive and genuinely want to help the customers. (i.e. getting things off of high shelves, helping you find things, going to get the right sized clothes/shoes etc). There is an amazing range of sport equitment and clothes for every sport possible! For both men and women although the women's section of clothing/shoes is significantly smaller. There are changing rooms but they're on the top floor of the shop next to the tills. They could be bigger too and in a different area. Everything is very cheap also. read more
