It's worth going out of your way to go to a good bike shop, bf says, and he's had two bikes from…read morehere and many services and upgrades/alterations (180,000 mi on one of the bikes) and highly recommends. It's a coop where the staff are passionate, knowledgeable and cater to all customer types. In stock are great brands such as Surly and Brompton. They won't try to force you to buy something off the shelf, they will help you customise it and go the extra mile e.g. offering to loan us a bike so bf could accompany me home and giving us flapjacks! Purchase also comes with 3 free services after which bike is a good as new.

While Neil M. makes an obvious and valid point about the larger stock of Edinburgh Bicycle Co-op, I don't feel that is necessarily a deal-breaker against buying a bike from The Bicycle Doctor which is still quite sizeable. Plus, I get the feeling that the stock offered by The Bicycle Doctor is quite savvy in its own way, with some unique products which may be hard to find elsewhere in Manchester. For example, an electric bike by Trek at £1,700 and a rainbow of cute pastel-coloured Brompton folding bikes both suggest that people are spending serious money here - in fact I don't think EBC stock electric bikes at all. I parted with cash for an interestingly versatile 100% merino wool 'buff', which can be to protect and the cold and UV also, plus a neat pair of cycling sunglasses which several people have asked me where I bought them from. I am in the market for cycle panniers, and I will definitely consider buying them from the good Bicycle Doctor, especially since they stock the high-end Ortlieb roll-top waterproof designs and even had four or so different colours in stock. On the repairs front, their website states that all their mechanics are Cytech-certified which sounds good enough to me! Lastly, The Bicycle Doctor allocates a significant corner of their precious floorspace to a rack of cycling leaflets detailing local routes, mass rides, and cycle-friendly tourism further afield - an authentic touch which typifies this Workers' Co-op which has been 'Serving the Cycling Community for over 25 years'. Thanks, Doc - you left me feeling good, and good to go!

Im an international student and have a terrible experience with this Rocky rider shop in Beeston…read more The owner give me a good impression at first time when he tighten and inflate my bike for free. But later on when I try to repair a bike i bought elsewhere I was charged 20 more pounds each time with a broken component and not being advised on the overall quality of the bike and whether it's better idea to abandon the bike. I feel like the bike is an infinite money black hole with unforeseen spent on repair. Last Christmas, I bought a second handed bike from the shop, i chose a 75 pounds bike initially but advised that if i buy 120 pounds one would receive a quality guarantee, but it turns out to be a lie even with the receipt. The first break down happened 2 months later. when I go to him with a long walk he told me the axis of the wheel is snapped and expected me to pay for it. When i showed him the receipt, he reluctantly agree to repair but let me come back in an hour. I went back home and went for a run thinking when i finished running could ride it home. But when i came to the shop after 2 HOURS. HE HASNT DONE A THING WITH MY BIKE. I have to wait in the cold air with my shorts on for another hour to watch him fix it. By the time I ride home both my arms lost feelings in the cold post winter temperature. Second breakdown happened 1 month after as the exam seasons. I didnt have time to repair and only got the time after exam and this time he again try to charge me and when I mention the quality assurance. He said that only last a months and THAT WAS NOT MENTIONED AT ALL WHEN I PURCHASED IT and think about no products have insurance of that short time. it was completely made up by the owner. I have to blame myself for buying in private business as there's no regulation to trace. The receipt is just worthless

Not too good for buying mountain bikes, but OK for lots of other things…read more I've been into The Bike Shop on Crossgates Road quite a few times over the last few weeks as I have been in the process of buying bikes for myself and my fiance. It's great for the casual cyclist. However, and it's quite a big however, they don't have that much choice of manufactures and they don't have a lot of bikes out on display. For example, they only had Specialized women's bikes built up and in the store. Their other relatively high-end manufacturer is Kona and they have some pricing issues at the moment as most people will be aware. On the plus side, the staff are extremely helpful, and they have a very good selection of kids bikes, BMX and commuter cycles. Although we bought our bikes elsewhere, we did go back to this store to purchase a car rack and a fair few other accessories and they were really helpful showing me how to set the bike rack up on my car.

So we looked at lots of specialsed bike shops that were really out of our price range. We thought Evans are a big company we will get the range we need. They had 2 bikes in the store to suit our price range but the staff were worse than disinterested. We couldn't pry the information we needed out of the member of staff. We went back on the internet and found the Bike Shop on Crossgates Road, Leeds. What an amazing experience! A massive range of quality bikes. The staff are so helpful and can't do enough for you. I can highly recommend The Bike Shop, we need 2 more bikes next year and will definitely be going back. A VERY HAPPY CUSTOMER

They put them in a non-padded plastic shipping bag. Without padding in the packaging -- my items arrived in a thin plastic bag (easily to be damaged in transit) and all 3 items were damaged. Damaged boxes also lower and impact collector's value. This is shocking they were not put in any sort of box, instead of a plastic bag -- even the plastic bag packaging had holes and rips. Part 2: Customer services was redundant of submitting the customer service website form about the issue with pictures, and then they reply back with an email to restate my entire concern and provide pictures again via email. They insisted that basically this is normal and I can chose to send it back (at my own shipping cost). Their link about "You can find further information regarding online returns by clicking the following link" help.sportsdirect.com/su... does not even work. The vibes: they are not really coordinated or seem willing to help you, and the response feels like "oh well, not our fault." Never ordering from again. Strongly recommend: STAY AWAY!

They sell all the big sports names at hugely discounted price, making some of the better quality sports wear more accessible to all. They also sell the premiership football strips, I imagine it depends on the area, but there is a large range of Liverpool and Manchester United kits in the Barrow store, both the new ones and older strips. They also sell some sports related items, water bottles, football club accessories, bags, pencil cases, top trump cards etc. The store is usually busy and queues can sometimes be a problem, especially at the weekends.
