Love Scheveningen Beach!…read more But love it more and best place to be when you're in the Hague when the weather is perfect for outdoors! Which by the way, I finally experienced for 1 full week in the middle of June after having visited the Hague 3 times thus far this year. It's perfect for running either on the boardwalk or on the beach along the North Sea. However, if you do opt for a beach run, be prepared to trek lightly across a wide body of soft sand before getting to the wet-firm sand, otherwise you'll have loads of sand in your running shoes! I'd also suggest running in the early mornings so you can practically have the entire beach to yourself, including a view of the sun rising and if you are lucky, maybe even a view of a chariot rider with his/her horse galloping along, it makes the run that much more enjoyable IMO (coming from a person who has never lived in a town with an easily accessible beach)! Not only does this beach offer a scenic run, you can do lots of other outdoor activities (e.g., biking, rollerblading, kite surfing, fishing by the red & green lighthouses, beach volleyball, regular beach stuff, amusement rides on the pier) and plenty of dinning options literally right on the sand, with cabana-type patio seating. Weather permitting, I am totally visiting this beach again when I am in town!

We booked a Ramsgate - Ostende ferry with LD Lines which I think we paid around £200.00 for. It was awful. Never again. When we arrived at the park the staff were friendly and spoke perfect English (which was great for us!). We were shown to our Duingalow (caravan) and weren't disappointed. It was a lovely caravan with a bit of decking and a BBQ. Everything worked fine and had everything it was supposed to. The park itself it really great... anyone with children should definately come here. The theme park is brilliant considering it's free (it's no Chessington or antyhing of that calibre but it certainly is entertaining). The water park is FABULOUS! and only costs about 2 euros for people staying at the site. We ate at one of the little fast food places which was also pretty good (a little expensive but I've generally found that places like this generally are in Europe). The staff (and locals) are really helpful. I (very spectacularly) managed to fall down 1 step and badly sprain my ankle. A very nice lady (not staff) came over and asked if I was alright as I had been sat on the floor for a while. I managed to get up and hobble away fine but it swelled up a LOT once I rested it. The next day we stopped at reception as we were leaving that day and asked for someone to 'properly' strap up my ankle so that I could walk on it a little and they were brilliant. We went into the little supermarket on site for 1/2 things but generally found it a bit overpriced (again as they all are at these kinds of places) but just in the town there is a supermarket called C1000 (which the reception staff actually recommended to us) which is brilliant. There is a LOVELY pizza place directly opposite. I would definately recommend it. We are going back this year (with a different ferry company for a much better price!) and are very much looking forward to it.

There is a long clean beach where you can sunbathe, or the more adventurous can try out some of the watersports on offer. Also for the adventurous there is bungee jumping from the tower on the end of the pier. Behind the beach there is a Sea Life centre that is supposed to be good, although I haven't been there. There are lots of cafes and restaurants on the streets behind the beach, as well as quite a few nice ice cream shops. It is quite a touristy place but it's still a nice place to visit. If you are visiting Scheveningen over New Year then you can take part in the Nieuwjaarsduik (New Years Dive) on New Years Day , when there is a swim in the North Sea. In the summer there are weekly fireworks displays.

We were…read moresitting outside having some nachos and drinks when the nice waitress offered to save a table for us inside since we wanted to have dinner there. Upon entering, we see Gijs (the manager) switching a table for guests (who have been sitting in the corner for a while) to our "reserved" table. Upon asking if we can sit there, he said flatly no. We have 3 dogs and the waitress reserved the table for us. In response, Gijs stated in Dutch "niet mijn probleem, jullie kunnen hier in de hoek zitten". Hmmm.. in the corner with 3 dogs: that is impossible. After my partner tried to explain, Gijs got very aggressive and was posturing quite threatening in my partner's face, which I found abnormal behaviour for a manager. He didn't want to help us find another table that would suit 6 people, which is a shame. We paid for our snacks and drinks (2 of which we didn't drink), and left. I felt so ashamed that your manager treated us that way, especially with our weekend guests. This really ruined our Easter. I told Gijs we were going to talk to the owner, of which he aggressively replied "ok: ga je gang". Very shameful behaviour. I have been going to this place for years. I recommend going as long as the manager has some training on being more customer-focused.
