I ordered a shirt online. The email said got your order, we'll email when the package is shipped. No email. 2 weeks, no email. 3 weeks, no email. I emailed them - no response. I emailed a couple of days later - no response. I phoned - got the message "Your call can't be completed as dialed" - about 8 times. Now, 4 weeks, I called my bank. They said, we'll take care of it. They did, and reversed the charge. I found the same shirt on ebay and bought it. I was $20 less, and appeared brand new. Nope. Don't buy from this store - at least not online. read more

This is one of the many gift/souvenir shops near the sponge docks in Tarpon Springs. My friend needed to bring something back so we popped in and I enjoyed looking around while she concluded her business. The Sponge Diver Supply has a varied selection of handmade soap, t-shirts, ladies clothes, gifts, sunglasses, accessories, cups, and sponges. What sets them apart from the other souvenir stores in the area is that the Sponge Diver Supply has a nicer quality of merchandise. The t-shirts have cool and unique graphics designed by the owner and the eye catching jewelry is dainty and elegant. I love how the shelves are decorated with a variety of items that pay homage to the history of Tarpon Springs and the sea. Prices were also very reasonable. T-shirts for instance ranged from $15 to $25. Service at Sponge Diver Supply was also top notch. They happily and quickly processed the return. The best little gift shop in Tarpon Springs east of the Gulf of Mexico. They have everything from men and women from shirts and hats and jewelry to the all loved sponges. I had to get another one. They last a long time. They got the coolest aquarium with little seahorses in them. All different types of unique sponges, such as Snoop SpongeBob do alligator head sponge. Don't forget the spongeelopes. Then there is Mr. Sponge a nickname for Mr. snowman. I bought a nice hat with their logo. Loved this place! They definitely stood out from the rest of the little shops near by. The store-designed t-shirts are so cool! We bought 2. They're super good for their price, too (I used to work for a custom tshirt franchise, so I know a bit about brands and prices). Staff was incredible and super friendly! Coolest souvenir store in Tarpon Springs! Most of the stores in town were your typical touristy 3/$20 t-shirt store. They don't even try. The designs on the shirts here were much cooler. The octopus with divers helmet and the mermaid with divers helmet are so unique compared to other stores. You're going to pay more, but they are quality shirts with unique designs. The sign on the front door that read: "we don't police people about masks" immediately drew us in. When I'm on vacation, I don't need some store owner putting their crazy mask rule on me! What a terrific find!!! Dodecanese Blvd in Tarpon Springs is home to dozens of touristy shops selling 3 for $10 t-shirts, sponges, shells, postcards, and really tacky tchotchke / chotsky swag. But somehow tucked in among all of the Greek restaurants and tourist traps is this awesome shop called Sponge Diver Supply. Sponge Diver Supply sells some great t-shirts made from heavyweight cotton with really unique patterns relating to the sponge diving industry and the rich Greek heritage of Tarpon Springs. They also have a lot of beautiful women's tops, skirts, dresses, and jewelry; and my adorable gf went crazy trying on (and buying) outfits. I picked up a couple of t-shirts for myself, and some tops for my nieces, and then stood by patiently while Britt kept finding new things to try on. I don't blame her as the clothing was unique and very pretty. The folks working here were super nice, and will gladly chat with you about the history of the area and all of the Greek customs. I was primarily interested in the sponge diving industry, and got a real education. Their clothing is great, and this is well worth a stop if you are strolling along past the sponge diving docks. Besides, the bakery for Hella's is nearby so you can always load up on Greek pastry after a full afternoon of shopping! read more

I was talking with someone about Rusty Bellies and how I was going to stop there on my trip South... and he immediately told me I needed to check this place out. So, through torrential rains and tornado warnings, I made my way through the flooded streets of Tarpon Springs in search of the softest most comfortable t-shirt this guy had ever worn. I was on a mission to find them for my husband! First I walked into the wrong place and the guy directed me to the right one, saying "they have great stuff, you'll love it there." Good indication already! I walked in and let them know my mission - the best t-shirt in the world. The girl who greeted me knew immediately what I was referring to and sent me to a display of shirts. Admittedly, they cost a little more than I would typically spend on a t-shirt, but they also cost less than most designer t-shirts with lower thread counts and less quality fabric. The customer service was very friendly, knowledgeable, and made me very comfortable. I purchased two shirts, admired the sponges, and flew back home. Such a pleasant surprise to be found in touristy Tarpon Springs! I'm usually not a huge Tarpon Springs dock fan just because of all the tacky touristy junk and people calling out for you to join them on this or that cruise. The food is good, and that's usually the only reason we come down this way. But on our last visit we were wandering along the shops and happened into Sponge Diver Supply. This shop is different than the other shops selling sleeping cat t-shirts with "Tarpon Springs, FL" written on the bottom and over priced trinkets. This shop carries clothing that I would actually WEAR. The owner was there and right away he started talking with my four year old and even gave him a sponge just his size. Then he showed him how soft the sponge gets when dunked into a bucket of water. My son was enthralled. Meanwhile I was rummaging through their cute T-shirt collection. Quality shirts cut for women with the Sponge Diver Supply name/logo on them. They also had cute clothes of all types- dresses, shorts, shirts. They also sell shoes, handmade jewelry, and men's items. The shop is neat too with wood floors and exposed brick. Their screen print shirt are only printed in limited batches so it was a little tough finding my size. The shirts run small too. I found one I really liked but they only had XXL. I did end up with a cute pink v-neck shirt, which ran me about $18. We are definitely going to make a stop here next time we are in the area and have more time! It's a great little shop. FYI- the owner told us that they were featured in an episode of Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe. We love the show and do remember the Sponge Diver episode. I've since rewatched the show and indeed, the owner (and his father) were on the boat taking Mike Rowe sponge harvesting. Very cool! They come from sponge diving family's and will help you identify different types of sponges. Technically they do sell some sponges and a few other random gifts but this place is primarily souvenir clothing. I've been to a lot of clothing gift shops and I have never seen designs as good as the ones on their shirts, they really are something good enough to wear in public and not look like a tool. First off, I hate shopping. However, the Sponge Diver Supply store is how the shopping experience should be. My family has been visiting the shop for years and it is a proper treat. It is a one stop shop for the whole family as they have a great cross section of items for adults and kids. Fortunately, the majority of other shops in the area don't suit our tastes so we can spend a bit more at our favorite Sponge Docks shop. Big respect to the owner and his staff as they constantly keep evolving their styles and selections and as noted in the earlier reviews, the shop and staff are all kid friendly. We live over in Carrollwood but will be taking a break from the rat race to come to our favorite shop and visit their sister Shell Shop. read more
