I can't help but feel this shop would do a lot better if it changed its signage. I mean, a blue…read morebackground with tacked on gold letters? This is 2010 not 1972. However, Man's World does remain one of the handiest clothing outlets on Byres Road on account of its stock of uniforms for nearby schools. Confusingly, despite what you would assume to be a fairly self-explanatory name, it also does well through the renting of dresses. As for the fashion, well i have to be honest and say I've only ever bought socks from here. Good socks, admittedly, but I'm not sure the quality is matched by the rest of the stock which appears to be a little tired and dated. Worth a look though for every day essentials.

Even though, it looks rather…read morepast it and has a strange mix of stock; it is, I reckon, the handiest and most decent male clothes shop on Byres Road. It has good quality materials and this is reflected in decent - not taking the pee - prices. However, my main YAY! for this shop does come solely from an experience which happened a couple of weeks ago. The boy's mother came up to Glasgow for the day and while I was hard at work, they went for a stroll. On this stroll, the boy was bought some brand new, spanking clean socks by his mother. Not, really the kind of thing I would normally make a big deal of. But for the past month he'd been wearing either socks with massive holes in them or purple thermal numbers of mine. Who knew a pair of new, clean black socks could be so so sexy??

USC stocks a whole range of unisex fashion including popular brands such as, Fred Perry, Bench,…read moreMiss Sixty, Diesel, UGG and Firetrap. This shop has an equal amount of guys and girls fashion which is unusual as most unisex shops tend to favour the girls section. However, USC seems to be aimed more at guys and every time I've been in there's usually a lot more males shopping here. I think this is probably because the clothes here appear to a wide range of guys, the clothes are unfussy, casual and pretty reasonably priced, no skinny jeans will be found here. After reading the review of the USC in town the general consensus is that it's aimed solely at 'neds' I think that is a bit of a generalisation and I guess that everyone has different tastes, if USC isn't your thing then fair enough but it ticks all the boxes for people who are into the type of brands stocked here. Okay, so maybe some of the guys in here have had a few too many run ins with the sun beds but more often than not it's just regular guys looking for a pair of jeans. To be fair, I'd rather go out with a guy dressed in the clothes in USC than over fashion conscious guys wearing skin tight jeans that give them camel toe, accompanied with more metro sexual jewellery than you could shake a stick at.

I have to admit that when someone says USC to me the first thing I think of is over-priced casual wear like Fred Perry and Henri Lloyd, not my thing at all I have to admit. However I recently visited the Braehead store in an attempt to acquire a huge men's hoodie myself for slobbing around my cold flat. I never got the hoodie because I was distracted by some pretty things in the ladies section which was most unexpected. Sift through the Gio-Gio (for that desirable Amy Winehouse smack head look) and the Killah and there are actually some pretty funky brands. Japanese brands Yumi, for example, do some really cute little dresses for around £35-£45. This store also sells accessories by Micsha Barton and Fiorelli which I really wasn't expecting! I'm not saying USC in Braehead is going to become a firm favorite of mine or anything of the sort. However if you are looking for a remedy to the, dare I say it, sometimes overly fashionable high street stores such as TopShop or Warehouse and you just want a nice dress or a decent pair of jeans then maybe give USC a look in.
