Met up with Leo who happens to be the GM of the place and he taught us the guidelines of throwing axes. Not only was he very attentive to our needs but he also made the whole experience very fun for us. He came up with different games for us to play and we were able to have a good time. I have been to other hatchet throwing places were they just teach you how to throw and leaves you alone. Granted some people may like that, but to us it was worth knowing that there is more to just throwing an axe to a board. He assessed what we were doing wrong and how we should correct our form thus making each throw more accurate. It is definitely worth checking this place out! Highly recommend it. During this unprecedented time it may be difficult to be in a public setting but from what I've experienced they really keep up with the CDC guidelines making your whole experience safe but also very fun! Worth the trip from jersey to go to Tilted Axes. Will come back again!

For first time visitors, you can call ahead and make a reservation. I would recommend that if you're a larger group. You can also show up as an individual and throw some axes more casually... if axe throwing is something you can consider casual. You will need to make sure you have closed toed shoes! You're throwing a sharp metal object afterall. The staff at Splitting Edge does an awesome job walking newcomers (and those of us that are like me and are not new, but lack axe throwing skill) how to get comfortable throwing axes. These guys are seriously professionals, they can give you pointers to help you perfect the craft. I've noticed I've gotten a little bit better and learned that I'm better at throwing with one hand, as opposed to the over the head with both hands style. The price point is really fair for your overall experience. I recommend coming with friends and bringing food and drinks! It's BYOB but there are a few nearby spots (Bomba Taco, Sly Fox, Wegman's) you can pick up drinks if you forgot. They have an awesome back bar area that my family used to set up a food buffet. My most favorite parts of Splitting Edge though... it's pet friendly! And there are tons of games (giant jenga, connect four, chess) to keep you busy if it's not your turn to throw.

Our group sampled various Mead's and liked them, but they do offer Beer and Soda. Staff were extremely helpful and knowledgeable. The highlight of the trip and worth every dollar was the axe throwing. You purchase a ticket at the main register, walk over to the throwing area, and sign in. They give you clear instruction how to do it and you're throwing. The instructor was great and very personable. The throwing is very safe and our group loved it, even when we didn't always find the target. Absolutely would return here.

You have an S hook Axe (heaviest out of the three), Hatchet (Typical Axe), or the Tomahawk Axe. Close to the end of the session they bring out a Firemen Axe that you can attempt to throw at the target and is easiest the hardest to maneuver. In addition to the Axe throwing, they have a fun baskettball arcade two person competition game that you all should be familiar from the days of your childhood arcade days and many other fun games such as shuffle board, Jenga, darts etc. This is perfect if you have a large party and are waiting your turn to throw as you can play a fun game while you wait. When I think of Axe throwing I am reminded of the beginning of the movie, "The Bodyguard" with Kevin Costner. There is a scene where someone is trying to recruit him to take on the bodyguard job and he is leisurely lobbing an axe at a wooden stake trying to land a shot. The first great part is when we got out and my wife opened the trunk to reveal a packed cooler of beer! Now, I should note that while you are allowed to bring alcohol, you can't bring hard liquor and you cannot be visibly intoxicated or they will not admit you (probably a smart thing). We had to sign a waiver of course in the event we chopped a limb off (we didn't). And then we were taken back to our lanes. It was a Saturday night and most of the lanes were full, we had two towards the back. One of the employees walked everyone through how we should throw and gave a couple of pointers before everyone took their time to give it a shot. I personally hate that shit, if I am being a fool I would like the opportunity to hit the wall and learn for my self. Another mention that I have to detail is legit the bathroom was one of the worst kept bathrooms I have ever seen. It looks like a bathroom out of your high school but never attended to. The arcade looks fairly decent however my nephews that attempted to have some fun at the arcade said most of the games were out of order. Although I personally enjoyed myself as this was a new experience racing a go-kart I have to advise you should go to a different spot for this activity. We initially wanted to go to Arnold's Fun Center in Oaks, PA to race but they recently changed the hours and that is why we ended up at this location. Also, be careful if you pay in cash as I received the wrong change and they had to get the manager involved in how to break a $100 dollar bill.
