They have such a large and varied assortment of trees, which I thoroughly enjoy seeing. They usually carry are larger choice of trees than what I see there in Watertown. What I also enjoy is chopping it up with the employees here. I know my trees pretty well and they also understand the species, and sub-species; which ones are grafted, spliced, new subspecies and so forth. They also understand which ones handle sub-optimal conditions, which allows for better choice for choosing which trees. What's also a big adder in the decision making process is they also will work with you to throw in some meaningful discounts. All in all, I plan on returning more often and can't wait to see what's new for that season for tree planting.

I had a terrible experience with landscape Garden Center. I purchased a tree in May 2025 and paid…read moreto have them plant it. Within a few weeks the leaves were turning brown and falling off. I took in a small branch and some pictures, I was told it looked like a fungal infection and as the weather go warmer it would resolve itself. The tree lost all it's leave's within a month or so. I again contacted Landscape Gardens, they ask that I email them with pictures, I was again told the tree should come out of it. Now at the end of the summer I took a branch in and they agree it was dead. They explained that I had not purchased the yearly contract for over 100 dollars, but if I did buy it they would replace the tree and give me 25%off of the price to have a new tree planted. I find this unacceptable, Not only do I have a dead tree, but they want me to buy coverage that is more than half the price of a tree, and then pay again for having it planted. I will not be doing business with them again and will go elsewhere for a new tree.

It was for a children's project and I needed small plants within 15 days. I was assured this was the best way to do it. At the end of 15 days I had nothing. The instructions I was given on how to grow them was week at best but with full assurance that I would have plants. Obviously this was an attempt to get me to make a purchase. I felt manipulated and lied to. When I went back with the empty seed pods and explained the situation I was told basically that's just too bad you have to live with it. They didn't even offer me a coupon. It was just a too bad tough luck. I told the girl I didn't know much about gardening and she assured me this was super easy. I would have plants right away. This is unscrupulous and bad business no wonder they have a two-star review. I'm not even going to take them to two stars. They are overpriced and have no customer service skills. Do not patronize them You will get better service and better customer relations if you go to Lowe's or home Depot or Menards.

I'm fairly new to the Yankton area, and was interested to learn of the history of Gurney's Seed in…read moreYankton, though I had never been a customer, I easily recall the name from their seed catalogs in the 80's. Seeing the Gurney name on the sign piqued my interest, so I gave Yankton Nurseries a try. Best I can say? Meehhh. Starting with the gal behind the counter/register, whom acted as if she'd rather be anywhere else, and seeming believes the snarl is a legitimate customer service tool. Then on to the too-small seedling trays that YN chooses to use for many of their plants. These too-small trays result in pretty extensive, early root-bound plants. I reluctantly bought other plants from Walmart, and at least their plants were in adequately sized pots, avoiding that problem. I've been germinating my own organic seeds, from seeds harvested from my own plants grown in my own organic soils, and I often germinate several hundred of plants each season, and I use large pots. And whereas my own plants are thriving, with the Walmart plants trailing behind, the extremely root-bound plants from Yankton Nurseries are suffering. I had to buy new plants at Walmart to replace the suffering plants I got from Yankton Nurseries. I try to support small business when I can, but when I have no reason to do so, I will reluctantly go to the big chains. I've no reason to shop at Yankton Nurseries.
