I wouldn't consider going here if your hair is on the thicker side. My wife and I were in town visiting and we went in there thinking she would get a nice haircut and they told us we don't work on black hair. It was embarrassing and highly offensive. They are trying so hard to be upscale it's pathetic, when we called we used our professional voice and when we arrived we were given the boot without question. I see racism in America is still prevalent in the south. I wouldn't squat to shit in this establishment let alone give them a good rating but I was forced to give them a star. read more

I've been going to Splendid for a couple of years now. I always come out looking better than I went in. Fabulous people and service. I have gone to Besimira and Didi, and both do a FABULOUS job. I have very short obnoxious curly gray hair, and they both now how to cut, style, and color ( low lights) to make it look and me, look great. read more

I recently moved to the area and the other salon I tried (Brush) was closed. This salon was able to get me in for a haircut in 2 days, which was great for me. A high five to the fabulous ladies at SPLENDID Hair Salon by Winn Dixie!! Wow! I always put my hair up in a comb and didn't realize it looked so shabby on top, especially! They highlighted and added lowlights, cut and styled, and waxed my brows. Plus, they were so friendly and open to all my questions. My husband says it's worth every penny! My hair was damaged after I got it colored at Splendid Hair Salon. The place was empty on both occasions. I do not recommend this salon.

A few weeks ago I went in for Brazilian blowout with Lilya. I was a little nervous because my hair is so thin and fine. She did an amazing job and I absolutely love it!! Took my daughter for her first Brazilian blowout. She has very unruly frizzy curly hair and I can't even describe how beautiful it looks. I was told $50 over the phone for a braid and when it was all said and done I was charge 70, it was a simple braid nothing out of the ordinary, no updo. Absolutely outrageous pricing and I've been to some very expensive salons. I do not mind paying the price for quality work but this was simply five small braids that took the stylist less than 20 minutes to do. Oh well, needless to say I'll never go back. I also recommend paying for service first so they can't charge you more after they finish. read more

I made an appointment over a week ago for today at 3:30pm. Someone from the salon calls me at 11:15 asking if I can come in earlier. I said no I have a vet appointment at 1pm and I don't want to rush. "Well can you do 2pm" I said no I can't . "Well can you do 2:30pm because we have to leave early ". Overall asked me 3-4 times after I said no can I keep my appointment. Finally I said I'll find somewhere else. I share my horrific experience in hopes to save someone the emotional devastation and financial burden I've incurred thus far, trying to repair my severely damaged hair as a result of it being over processed. Fully story: Wanting to look and feel beautiful for my upcoming birthday, I made an appointment at the newly opened Splendid Hair Salon with the owner Besmira for Saturday 3/20/21 at 9am. After my initial consultation days prior with Besmira the quote I had received during the consultation was $200-$250. I showed a her picture of exactly what I wanted, which was of a balayage w/caramel undertones around my face. Something that wouldn't require maintenance every 6-8 weeks, being the busy Mom that I am. After spending over 5 hours at the salon I was happy to have the grays colored, but the results looked nothing like the balayage photo I had shown her. I ended up with full blonde highlights from roots to ends. I later learned that foils aren't standardly used for balayage, but unaware at the time I didn't know that should have been my first red flag. I also didn't know the average time I should have been left to sit with what turned out to be bleach on my hair, as I have no history of coloring my hair any color that would require bleach. The price I had quoted somehow also increased to $415 including tip. Yes, double the quote! I didn't have time to stress at the moment over results or dispute pricing, as I had a birthday celebration in less than 2 hours. I normally wash my hair every 2-3 days to maintain its health. I washed my hair for the first time following the apt. on Tuesday. Horrified doesn't even begin to describe how I felt when I first saw the level of damage that had been caused, to my once incredibly healthy hair. It was literally falling out in the shower! I consulted with 2 other stylists who own their own salons (last minute planning on my end and lack of availability prevented me from booking with them as I normally would) and they were astonished to see how "fried" my hair was. In a panic over the next few days, I tried multiple salon quality hair masks and leave in conditioners that came recommended. I literally spent over $200 on products. I tried so hard not to panic, as it was confirmed that only "time" could truly fix the irreversible damage Besmira had caused. I contacted Splendid Hair Salon via email within the same week to notify them of the issue and provide photos to confirm the severity of the damage. I also spoke directly with Besmira via phone and she requested that I come in the following Monday to discuss my concerns. Upon my arrival Monday morning I took my hair down to show her the level of damage and she kept insisting that I sit down in her chair. Obviously the last time I did the results were not in my favor, so I politely declined. Never once did she acknowledge that the results weren't normal, that my hair was in fact damaged or that something went wrong. In fact, the response I received was the complete opposite. She proceeded to question my home hair care routine (I use the exact brand of hair products she sells in her salon), and she even had the audacity to question what medication I am on stating that could be the cause. I was absolutely floored! Next it was "everyone's hair takes color differently". It was excuse after excuse. Too many to even list. Then she proceeded to claim the defense that she's been practicing hair in the states for 10 yrs which she only had her license for a year. It was evident after multiple failed attempts to redirect blame on me. The look of shock on her face when I had requested a refund confirmed the lack of professionalism. The response received was that she couldn't offer me a full refund as she "had spent too much time with me in her chair". Talk about insulting! I thought to myself; if she wanted determine an acceptable refund based on time, then let's talk about the months or years it's going to take me to fully regain health to my hair and get it back to the condition it was prior to entering her salon that Saturday! I took the $200 she agreed to refund and I was ready to leave. That a refund would be issued and we'd be able to cordially go our separate ways. As of now I have spent a total of $650 between what Besmira charged, the professional home treatment products purchased from another salon necessary to keep my hair as hydrated as possible and the cost to have a gloss put on in attempt to tone down the blonde. I share my experience to make others aware, not only of the outrageous difference in pricing she charges from what she quotes, but also in hopes I can save just one person the emotional headache and embarrassment that I have endured and will continue to for a very long time. read more

I was very pleased with her attention to my needs and impressed with her guidance and insight. As a senior citizen, with health issues, I was treated with respect and patience. Not a Splendid Hair Salon. I was quoted $25 dollars for a child's haircut and was charged $40 by the hair stylist/owner Besmira, who never mentioned additional cost, while cutting hair. All she said at check out was "she took time cutting her hair." Her justification was absurd, as she is always tipped, every time I or my family went to get our hair done. In this particular day, Besmira did not communicate additional cost. I payed the bill, to avoid making a scene. This forced me to make a decision to not continue to support businesses like hers. Is not about the money is about the principle of it. There are plenty of talented hair stylists in the Saint John's area, who will appreciate my business. read more

Update: Besi came clean on the credit. Absolutely don't recommend this salon and it's owner, Besi . Buyer beware with Besi. She took complete and utter advantage of my 90 yr old mother who went to her for a cut and an updo. At 90 yrs old my mother still wears her hair in an updo with it teased and styled for volume. My mother brought a picture of herself with her hair the way she likes it and Besi said she could do it. What my mother got instead was her hair combed back with a French twist, nothing at all like the picture she gave her and probably a style that took all of 5 minutes to do. Honestly, I'm not a hairdresser and I could have done what she did in 5 minutes. Literally, combed her hair back and twisted it for $80. She clearly did not know how to do the updo and failed to say she couldn't. $140 charge for cut and 'non-style'. $80 of that for the 'non-style'. My mother came home crying. When my sister confronted Besi she tried to blame my mother and then said that nobody knows how to do styles like that anymore. Well, if that is true, then why did she tell my mother she could and an $80 charge for it is ridiculous, not to mention $60 for a basic cut with no styling. She knew she messed up because she offered to 'fix' it when my mother was there, but my mother was too upset and at 90, she isn't confrontational. My sister got Besi to agree to credit back the $80 for the 'non-style' part. The credit showed up on my mother's account in pending and then it was canceled. She must have thought that my elderly mother wouldn't notice. She is not professional and clearly not very competent. read more

Was just there after I made an appt for my 9 year old daughter that has pretty long hair. Yea I made an appt the night before which they accepted. So I come there at 915/920 my appt was at 935. The lady Besi starts on my daughter's hair says nothing about extra price or about her length. Then towards the end of the service we finish about 11am some other client of hers complaining about having to wait 20 mins for her to finish up my daughter. Besi then says ohh she made appt last minute and she scheduled for a kids cut and she had lots of hair. Mind you my daughter is a kid and if you had a problem with your time management when she walked in you should have told me as well as the price jump. The haircut was 35 on the website when I booked and not once when I walked in before service did she tell me it's 60 because of her length. Not only that my daughter was covered head to toe in hair. Her shoes, socks, sweater, pants, everything. I have never had anyone charge me higher for a kids cut because of her hair length and if I am going to I would like to know immediately not at the end at register. Also all the times my daughter had her haircut was she ever covered in hair. They need to adjust their website to the higher prices if your child has long hair not just surprise you at the end. Not every child has short hair.... Don't bother coming here, worst experience ever and never again coming back. Also if you can't take someone for a "last minute appt" don't make it accessible on your website to schedule.... My time is valuable too and I had places to be earlier than 11. No hairstylist has ever taken this long every time she had a haircut and her hair was always long... DONT BOTHER WASTING YOUR TIME HERE!!!! read more
