Kathy's Kloset

I was not sure what the problem was here. After reflection I think I know. Had I not viewed the…read morestore's inventory just prior to keeping an appointment for consignment, I might have felt differently. I was first greeted by a not particularly friendly woman whom I recall from a prior visit where I purchased a dress and another time when I accompanied a friend on consignment. I asked if I could bring my articles in from my vehicle as I had an appointment and was told, "No" rather flatly. So I perused the store. Inventory seemed not overwhelmingly great in my size range as I am a full figured, but fit woman. I lift and do cardio. Run from a twelve-fourteen bottom and can go up as high as a size 16 if a made in China top. (I have a rack.) I am the typical American woman size at 12-14. Saw nothing in my size range. No white jeans, no blue jeans, no capris. Stocked, but not in that size range. Really no dresses. A small rack in front-rear with mink stole and hippie style fringe jacket. All quite worn. Blouses washed out. I once bought a dress there, but truly saw nothing this visit, apart from formal wear which I did not look through in the very rear of store. Kathy seems politely rude. She rejected two of my consignment garments for short sleeves....then proceeded to tell me women want their arms covered..."Like you, you are hiding your arms " she stated. It was chilly out that day...she herself was in a blazer! I had a 3/4 sleeve blouse and a light cardigan buttoned around my shoulders. I have nothing to hide. It's Florida, women generally wear short sleeves! (She forgets we see her arms on her own web site -aged.) So what. Who says that? Me lol 'cause she drew first blood on that. I had a variety of once-used or never used due to weight fluctuation clothing. Again play between 12-14 slacks but larger top if imported. I still fit in mediums from years ago. Four articles still had tags! Out of a dozen items I had about half very decent label designer brands. Jones New York, Chicos yadda yadda. She rejected each and every piece. Too long, too short, too used - (a once worn dress). She needed shoes per last visit w. a friend, tried on my two pair: one, a low-heeled, basic wedge, gently used; the other kitten heeled and she rejected for Idnk why. Me, I still love them, but foot and ankle issue. I need a sling back. It's her business, her right, but it was the frosty attitude that was so unprofessional. I now have all but two of my items on consignment in Sarasota. One blouse and kitten heels did not make the cut. I donated to Goodwill. I think a few things perhaps are at play at this business: 1. Honestly think it is a difficult business now as clothing has become so disposable like Kleenex. People are holding on to their good stuff. Not so fast to part. I do, but not with things that do not fit. More-so with fall/winter clothing. I thank God every day, I held on to my leather boots - had them all reheeled with a wonderful old-school, Italian shoemaker. Inventory seems not as good as prior season visits. Honestly. Not said in retribution. 2. Also think, based on sizing of inventory Kathy may be unconsciously shopping for herself. She is very slim, small sized. As age beckons Idn necessarily envy. A little adipose pushes the wrinkles and puckers out lol. I quite by chance, had time to see a size nine-ten going through racks who seemed mildly frustrated by lack of inventory in her size. (She complained of saddlebags I did not see, and IMO is the perfect size. Not big, not scrawny) 3. I think Kathy's reception person a bit abrupt and not quite friendly. She had a different lady working there last visit as well as this woman, who was so much friendlier. I am left thinking based on reception and attitudes they tell you to come in to consign in hopes to provide foot traffic and that you will make a purchase. Overall, I was made to feel like an incumbrance. I see the positive reviews for people she helped coordinate and give kudos for that, however consignment seems quite another matter.

Great little trendy store! Friendly staff too! Lots of…read morereally nice name brands. Something pretty much for every shopper, very unique items, too. Support small business and the Carbon Footprint! Go see for yourself. You wont be disappointed in this one!
