This is a large store with a large selection of beach wear and souvenirs! Anything you can think of, it looks like they would have it. It was fun for us to walk thru it. Basically, we were looking for a swimsuit and a coverup, but other things caught our eyes also. Prices were reasonable. The staff was friendly and helpful. The store was clean, organized, and tidy. Without water and shade - needless to add in air conditioning, Las Vegas and Dubai would probably cease to exist as humanity would dry up and turn to dust. But for now I'm in Sarasota and it's party central and dreams of the continuation of sugar plums and a bright tomorrow still dance in every head. This above statement, although a bit rigid, seems to be the predominant head space for our lovable assembly at the church of Never-never Land where you never have to think adult thoughts and I remember those days well. I just needed cheap sunglasses having misplaced my expensive ones and I need to cut the glare for my eyes and protect myself a little from these lovebugs having sex on my face. I know it's their season and all, but get a crack in a door of a room or somewhere a bit less intrusive. And two conversations behind my head are on the Sillyland Express going fast track to nowhere about young love, which is sweet in theory but being bastardized in verbage. I couldn't resist to ask "Who is John Gault"? - Ayn Rand in Atlas Shrugged - ziiippppidie doodaaa - to me for invoking a colossal and misguided literature missle to the solar eclipse archetypes. They miss daily sunrises and sunsets but are consumed by a moon that's only an alien observation post, and it's getting more and more common for me to wish for an abduction and To Serve Man is the book I find upon their spaceship, it's a cookbook. But capitalism isn't broken yet here and doesn't show signs of failure quite yet because my sunglasses are ten bucks with about seventy cents of tax. They're sturdy at the hinges and appear to be Costa del Mar-esq in style and lense coloration. I still love beach shops although this one isn't exactly near and beaches. I visited my sister in Sarasota (from Denver) and bought several summer casual fun beach/pool clothes, t-shirts, a couple bikinis, a wrap, etc. I love all of it. It was the second trip to Sarasota and to Splash. The first time I bought a bunch of fun stuff too. I didn't gasp when I got to the register and it was totaled up. Went to buy a snorkel for my son. When we got to the beach, it did not fit him and the strap continued to become undone. The snorkel is advertised for 3-10 year olds and he is 6. When I came back the very next day to exchange for a bigger size, they refused because I didn't have my receipt and according to the owner, they're not a Walmart. Fortunately for me, there were a lot of people in line watching this interaction and the owner eventually gave in and allowed me to exchange it. In short, customer service goes a long way and the owners attitude, cocky demeanor and ignorance defy every definition of what professional customer service should look like. Cashiers not helpful or friendly. Will not take returns, even for an exchange unless you have your receipt. Cashier did not put receipt in my bag. For a years we're buying different staff from this store for us, our kids and grandkids. This year were very disappointed by acting manager of this store Ellie Donofrio who use only one word: "No" when I was asking very simple thing: accept my return which is not very expensive $ 37.43, but our grandson was not mature enough to use. We cannot use either and ask to get back not used 37 inch Body Board. The main reason was a fact that we took a plastic off that covered a board. How could we encourage him to tray without taking a plastic off. It's so common to return not use equipment on the next day or within couple of days. As a consumer I have a right to do so, but not in this store. read more

The two girls upfront were hardly paying attention to anyone when they were checking out and they were co planning about how annoying another employee was and gossiping about her. I called ahead asking if they had infant size 4 shoes and they said "yes absolutely" but when we arrive the smallest they had was size 6. Obviously they didn't even look. Such a waste of time. It would have been better to say "I don't know" versus straight up lying. read more

I don't know why this is advertised as a swimsuit store. This is a tacky tourist gift shop with a small selection of swimwear and flip flops. But since I know this and just go for souvenirs I really like splash. They do have a good assortment of shirts Hats and sweatshirts. Along with mugs and other souvenirs. I tried Walgreens and target but their selection wasn't good. Walmart superstore has a small selection of gifts but they may have a better selection of beach apparel. read more

This place looks like it has a decent selection from the outside, unfortunately they dont stay open until advertised hours as we got there at 8:45 and a girl just walked up to the door and locks it. Tried knocking to see if they'd let us in, all my brother wanted was 1 shark tooth, would've been quick and easy but instead the chubby girl gave a stank face and said with an attitude they are closed. This place has a good selection of swim wear and beach supplies. The sale items are reasonable but other items seemed a bit over priced. They also have a section of gifts and souvenirs for the unlucky people you left behind. This store is right next to the way overpriced swim city so walk in there first for sticker shock and then mosey into Splash. read more

It's tradition for us to visit Splash Sun & Swim each year we're in Siesta Key. It's a "fun" and fairly inexpensive store. You can find a wide variety of items here that are good for the beach -- swim suits, beach toys, etc. as well as your basic souvenirs and trinkets. Apparently this store does not stand behind their merchandise. We purchased 2 skim boards for our grandkids, and when one began peeling apart after only 45 minutes of use, we tried to return it. The manager-of-the-day refused. She implied that most people are tourists, so they don't care if the items fall apart after just a little use. We paid $23 dollars for the board, and expected it to last longer than less than an hour. We're not tourists, and we will steer all our visitors away from this junk shop. read more

GO ELSEWHERE AND SAVE YOUR MONEY! I purchased a portable beach cabana for my 4 month old infant to use on the beach for shade. I got this piece of junk back to my hotel in Clearwater and set it up four hours after I purchased it and it fell apart. Four of the six tabs where the tent poles go in to erect the tent, came completely unraveled. I called the store to explain what happened and they said "no refunds." I am visiting the area and heard great reviews about this place. I've now tried to visit on three separate occasions in the evening, and have been turned away or ignored by employees each time because they were "closed." Their weekday hours are 8:30am until 9pm, however they apparently lock the doors at 8:30 and ignore customers standing t the door. Four different cars pulled up while we were there. Whoever orders apparently has zero idea that most men wear L or XL. Was in the store January 2021 found a few tanks my size in sleeveless then came back June 2021 they had same stuff and the only men's L/XL were $27 a piece. Clerk said they were expecting an order to call next week so we did. Girl on the phone was pathetic and had an attitude even when I explained I was told to call the next week to see if the "order" had arrived. She got snotty and hung up after saying "of course." Met who acted as if he was the owner a few times was very arrogant. Plus they require mask as of June 2021 and when I was alone in an aisle they told me to pull it up over my nose. However the clerk who was checking someone out behind plexiglass had no mask plus a mouthful of food talking while also talking at same time to the other unmasked clerk. We actually went here 2 days and the first day we had a great experience! We bought some shirts and the workers were super nice. My mom happened to buy a dress for the drum circle that happens every Sunday and Wednesday! The next day while we were getting ready for the drum circle, the button fell of Of the dress! The in,y time she had put it on was at the store to try it on so we were confused and decided to go back to the store and either get a refund or a replacement. She went in the store and came out 5 minutes later crying. We come from Indiana on a fun little trip and the worker she happens to ask is so rude. She asked if we brought a sewing kit like that is normal And said it in the worst way possible. My mom asked if there is anything we could do but she said no because there was a piece of lint and that she had already worn it. (Which we had not because she bought it yesterday) As they were talking to strap to the dress broke in front of their very eyes. Overall we had a terrible experience just with one worker though. I wish i had looked up the reviews of this place before i went but we went spur of the moment to get 1 item. . The tattooed girl who looked and acted like she was a mixed martial arts fighter was rude. Anyway we found the item and it said $5.86 . She said its $10. I said it says $5.86 and she said it's $10 do you want it or not? Now, there was a sticker on the back that did say $10 so she could have politely said I'm sorry about the 2 stickers but she didn't. If we didn't need it right then I would have told her what she could do with it. I returned it for store credit a few days later and the lady there then did honor it but seemed bothered by it. I will never ever buy anything from that store again. Poor customer service and return policy. read more
