I have replaced a couple of sections after hurricanes and this job was so superior. New door hardware was included and the job was not going to pass their installation until it closed fully. Success! They came out the same day, identified additional screen issues and accommodated my request to address the other areas while they were on-site. Regardless, Ron L.'s professional approach at this stage led me to select them for the job, and I did. They sent an email on Thursday that read, "Great news, we'll be on your job tomorrow." Okay...that works. And then a crew showed up completely unannounced at my home that evening at 6:30 because they were there to measure the job. Umm...didn't the "office" send you the specs? No...that's why we're here. Okay, strike one, and I sent a message to Ron and another company representative, and crickets.... The crew came back on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to do the job. It's a good thing I didn't intend to use my backyard space for what should have been a one-day event (according to Ron L. and every other screening company I spoke with). And then the crew left on Sunday. No notice, no final report, no review with the customer...just drove off. Then I checked out the work and found that they ran the screening from one side of the lanai to the other. Had Ron L. bothered with any quality checks, that may not have happened. But they didn't, so now I had to address it, and I did. The crew made excuses and said that's how they did "rescreens." The same crew came back out the next weekend, fixed the problem that I (not the company) found, and again...drove off with zero notification. Then, 2 weeks later, I received the final invoice. So, of course, I asked the question again. How do I know the work was done to any kind of standard? So far, I have had to address every issue with the company and its crew. Here I go again, and I contacted the company. Only then did someone who said they were the project manager reach out to me directly (first time) to address my concerns. It's at this point that I told the individual (I'll leave your name out of it, but you know who you are) that I was disappointed in the company's ability to communicate to me what was going on. Of course, I again addressed the crew's attempt to shortcut the job, and the response I got was "they're lazy." So here we have a project manager (who doesn't know what it means to manage a project) who is diming out their work crews. They're only lazy because you are an ineffective manager. They offered an apology and only then said they would come out to review the crew's work and thus do their JOB. I offered my comments as constructive feedback and asked if they were willing to offer any additional concessions (other than an apology and acknowledgement that they need to do better). The response I got was that the work was done. Okay, fair point...but I had to do YOUR job and inspect the work. Ron L. has a terrific reputation for building cages, and I will likely use them again if I ever need a new one or a rebuild...but I simply can't trust them to do my screens, especially when they hire out subcontractors and don't follow up on the work. They lied to me and tried to deceive me. I can hope they can figure out how to transition their build expertise into their larger business plan, and remember that the customer (read the one who is paying the bills) should be your primary focus.

Beware of using this company. He and his foreman had a falling out a couple of days into the project and the foreman left the job. A few days later, we stated that we had issues with handrails that were being installed (pictures attached) and wanted him to know about it before he traveled up from Florida and needed additional material to get them installed properly. This triggered a series of VERY LONG rambling text messages about how he was a Christian and a single father and that his foreman was an alcoholic, addicted to gambling, and was divorced because of this (not sure why a responsible owner would choose someone like that to represent their company and be in charge of his crew) and that the entire reason we were having problems with the railing was because his foreman and I had spoken before he left and that I had no business speaking with him. We were told that we were being picky and attacking him and that we didn't understand how the handrail assembly worked. He then claimed that his foreman had taken $1,000 that he paid him for housing and asked that we pay $1,000 for the crew's accommodations (this is in addition to the money we had already paid). We declined and stated that we were sorry he was having trouble, but we were not going to pay any additional money until the job was completed as we had all agreed. He then said he was going to have his crew pack up, take the materials, and come back at a later date, but we would need to pay an additional $15,000 more down on the job because he had "a bad taste" about this job and that we were trying get rid of him and hire the foreman to finish the job. He pulled his crew and took the materials that had not been installed and left us with partially constructed walls, gutters installed with no drain holes or downspouts, and poorly installed hand rails (he claims he was doing the handrails for free but as this was an insurance claim I told him as long as it looked like it did before the damage I didn't care if he installed new or reused the existing). He claims in a response to another review that we tried to kick the crew off of the property (we did not...we actually tried to get them to stay and finish the job but were not going to pay additional upfront money) and take the material (the police were called by his crew, which we agreed was a good idea, as none of knew the legality of removing materials from a construction site). He additionally claims in his response that if we "would just pay them properly" (we paid 1/2 up front as agreed but would not pay any additional money), sign the "contract" (he is referring to an invoice which I had not signed as it didn't seem to be a contract but did sign and send when he made it a big issue), and now is talking about putting money in escrow (first time I have heard anything about this) because he can't put a lien on our property as it's a farm (far from it...we have pet farm animals). He also asked in the other reply to the review that I "come clean to all my customers", that is the reason I have decided to write these reviews with the hope of keeping others from going through this.
