My truck was towed by Davenport's Towing on 9/6/2026 and delivered to the repair shop at approximately 12:31 AM. I want to specifically say that the driver who handled my tow was very professional. I have no complaints about him whatsoever, and I do not want someone else's attitude to take away from the professionalism he showed.
On 9/7/2026, the shop was able to get my truck running again. The issue was a blown heater hose that caused the truck to lose antifreeze. However, after receiving the truck back, I noticed that several warning lights were illuminated, including the ABS (anti-lock braking system) light. My truck is regularly serviced, and I have never previously had these warning lights or a check-engine light come on.
I asked the shop about the issue, and before completing their inspection, they advised me that these types of warning lights can sometimes be associated with a vehicle being towed. I then contacted my insurance company, which was the company that arranged for Davenport's Towing--not me. My insurance company advised me to contact Davenport's first so they could determine how they wanted to inspect the vehicle and address the issue.
I contacted Davenport's on 9/7/2026 and spoke with a representative named Tammy. Tammy attempted to get me in contact with Barbara. I was told Barbara would follow up, but I never received a call. I followed up again on 9/11 at approximately 1:08 PM, and again on 9/18/2026. Throughout these interactions, I was also sure to tell Tammy that I appreciated her professionalism and the professionalism of the driver.
My frustration came to a head today when I called back and asked for Barbara's contact information. I was hoping to leave a voicemail or send an email directly since I had been told multiple times that Barbara would contact me.
I was told that there was no direct phone number, only an extension, and I was transferred. No one answered, so I called Davenport's back.
This is where the experience changed.
The representative I spoke with had a very different tone. I explained the situation and was told:
"Sir, Barbara has been here for 6 years and hasn't had a vacation. She doesn't work on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. And blowing her up about this isn't going to..."
I immediately stopped the conversation and explained that I had not been blowing anyone up. I had contacted the company because I was instructed by my insurance company to do so, and because I was trying to get an issue addressed that I noticed after my vehicle was returned.
If following up multiple times over nearly two weeks about a vehicle-related concern is considered "blowing someone up," then I guess that's how it was perceived. However, I don't believe that is a professional way to communicate with a customer who is simply trying to get an issue addressed.
To be clear, the driver was not the problem, and Tammy was not the problem. Both were professional and courteous in my interactions with them.
My issue is with the lack of follow-up and, ultimately, the way the situation was handled during my most recent phone call. A customer shouldn't have to repeatedly call just to get a response, and they certainly shouldn't be made to feel like they're doing something wrong by asking for one.
Based on my experience, I would not recommend Davenport's Towing. I hope the company takes this as constructive feedback because the situation could have been handled very differently with simple communication and professionalism.
