The artist wasn't happy with the painting she was supposed to be doing with us. She mentioned several times, it "wasn't her style". Her accent and soft spoken voice left many of us at a loss, as well. To begin the artwork, we were told to take a piece of paper towel and dip it in black paint. Then, smear our entire canvas with the black paint. What?? Are you kidding me? That is hardly painting! Not to mention our entire group of 18 adults had hands covered in black paint. What a mess! Plus, this was not a cheap event! It was supposed to be from 7-9 PM. Most of us were finished by 8:15. The following day a survey was sent to me by Paint The Town, as I was the organizer of the event. I was brutally honest, as I am now. They have yet to write me back, which upsets me greatly.

We got to the front desk and was welcomed by one of the workers that checked to see if our nane were on the list, after that we were welcomed by Sara she was our teacher for the day and Kayla her assistant. We did our research and found that you could bring snacks and beverages. So we stocked up on wine, cheese and crackers. Something light to munch on while painting. Our class was pretty full and the instructor had a mic so everyone could hear. She even would walk around the room to help with any questions and offer some tips. She was very good at instructing and I thought everyone's painting turned out great! It was very interesting to see that we all painted the same concept yet they were all so unique and pretty. The class last about 2 hours. The staff gathers your groups together so they can take a photo of you with your masterpiece. This was such a fun and different girls night out option over the usual "let's go to a bar for happy hour". They offer lots of classes throughout the week and even multiple classes in one day. The studio is fairly large with high ceilings. They provide all the supplies for you to paint and they give you an apron to wear but be sure to wear clothing that you don't mind getting paint on. You will learn a lot from the amazing instructors and the studio assistants are friendly and willing to help. I like how you have access to the studio outside of class time (depending on the class you choose). Taking advantage of the open studio time is what really helped me improved my skills. You have access to many useful tools and a good amount of glazes, but you can also bring your own cone 6 glazes. Unfortunately the studio is 50 minutes away, so I ended up setting up a studio at home. But my time at this studio definitely set me up for success.

The staff members had each child make a hand print to bring home for a souvenir and we were able to bring home a painting for the ones that chose to paint as well. They have a sink area in the back to wash messy hands after getting creative. After the desserts, the kids got up on a little stage in the back area and had a dance party. It was the cutest thing to see all the little ones have not a care in the world and just be kids. I don't think I saw a child or a parent not have fun at the event. The venue recently opened up this past May and it's located in the small shopping plaza of Lake Charleston off of Hypoluxo and Jog. There is lots of events happening on their calendar, such as kids camp, wine glass and art canvas paintings as well as specializing in mobile, corporate, and private events.
