I stopped in today because I needed *20* cases of beer for a party. I asked this old lady at the front register for some help and all she did was say "they're in the cooler over there" pointing in the direction of them. Was rude as hell and didn't care if I had to load them myself. Was confused because isn't it their job to help you? Especially with a big order. Was even considering leaving and going somewhere else. Thankfully these two guys stopped and asked if I needed help while I was loading it myself. They even took them to my car. They were wonderful besides that old lady. She could use more training. Went here on the night of 12/22. Young lady at the front says, "These are interesting choices", in which I replied, "I'm making Christmas Sangria.". I thought we were having a friendly conversation. She felt the need to correct me, not once but twice by replying, " Xmas sangria, it's Xmas sangria." You don't get to tell me who and what I celebrate. Never coming back. Managers of this store, figure out how to train your staff some tolerance of different religions or get out of the business of working with the public. read more

Spirits in Toms River on 37 is the pits. Instead of watching every person of color thinking their going to stick a 40oz in their pocket ask do they need some help. My daughter has a bad back she had to literally get on her knees because a eyeballed rather stare than help. read more

I stopped by here last week on my way to surprise my sister who just completed her time in the army and I didn't want to show up empty handed. I told my 12 year old to come in with me because I didn't want to leave her in the car alone. We went to the wine section and I tried to pick out the prettiest bottle for my sister's surprise celebration. I don't know much about wine and was in a bit of a rush to make it there on time. We get up to the register and the cashier said she'd have to decline the sale unless my TWELVE YEAR OLD DAUGHTER can prove that she is 21! I said I am the one making the purchase, I told her I brought my daughter in with me because I didn't want to leave her in the car, and proceeded to show her my ID. She told me that didn't matter and because my daughter was with me she'd have to provide proof that she's 21 as well. Which obviously she isn't. We left and since I was already running late I didn't have time to stop at another liquor store so I ended up showing up empty handed afterall. It's not the first time I've had to run into a liquor store with one of my kids but it is the first time this has happened. I will never shop here again with or without my kids. Had they had a sign up, I could've saved myself the trouble or asked my daughter to wait in the car for me..or if one of the many workers around the store that asked if I needed help would've told me this policy before I hit the register that would've been great as well!! I just had a bad experience at the store last night, which changed my opinion. It is widely known that local craft beer is the craze now, and it's the fastest growing segment of the beer industry. Spirits Unlimited seems to have a lot of craft beer, but they only have one New Jersey, independently owned bottled beer available, which is from the Cape May Brewery. That's the one that I usually buy, and I have told them on several occasions to please keep it in stock because it sells out like hot cakes. Their inventory personnel don't seem to listen. Yesterday I went back, just to find out that the Cape May beer was sold out yet again. They had no other local, independently owned craft beer available. They only had what I call "Pseudo Craft Beer" which is owned by companies like Anheiser Busch or corporate investors. I tried explaining this to the employees, and they were all very nice. But they didn't seem to understand what I was talking about, or why they should have local craft beer in stock. Turns out they had one kind of Carton beer on tap. But sorry, one beer on tap, when I am looking for a decent selection of local craft bottled beer is not good enough for me. In summation: good beer selection, but just very little, if any local craft beer in stock at any given time. read more

My husband and I live just a block away from this place and shop there several times a month. We will come back because it's simply convenient to shop so close to home, however one of the cashiers and the manager have recently put us through an insulting and embarrassing experience. We had friends visiting from New York, they are a married couple both age 28. Since they were staying with us they wanted to make a nice gesture and pay. This was our biggest mistake. The cashier who was full of initiative asked all of us to show our IDs which wasn't at all surprising because our friend does look really young. Everything was fine until she refused to sell anything because our friends only had New York non-driver IDs. My husband stepped in to show both his and mine local driver's licenses but no one even took a moment to take a look at our IDs, let alone our age. We are 31 and 28. Why would we be friends with teenagers? Now I know that legally they didn't have to sell to people with out-of-state non-driver IDs but the staff refused us as well. Another staff member, probably the manager, backed the cashier up in her decision. If we show a local driver's license and pay for the goods doesn't it relieve the store of any responsibility? We still had a good time; luckily local bars had no problem accepting NY id cards along with our local driver's licenses. But this experience left a very unpleasant feeling that will probably come back every time we shop there. And we had never ever been asked for an ID before at this place despite the fact that I am 5 ft.1 in. The next day when we came in to finally get what we wanted, the manager instantly recognized us and surely enough he didn't need to see any IDs. If you ever shop there and look young be sure to take several IDs with you. Moreover, if you happen to be spending time with friends who don't have local IDs, better not to attract additional attention, just leave your friends outside on the parking lot (LOL) making them feel as if they are teenage delinquents. read more

Unbelievable experience at this store after going to this store for the past 5 years being accused of buying alcohol for my son who is 14 because he pointed to a favor of vodka to bring my attention to it. I was accused to be buying him alcohol and was refused service. Absolutely annoyed and will never step into store again. read more

Pretty annoyed with this store and location. Tried to get delivery for a party and was told they don't have enough staff to deliver after 5pm....Also they advertise that they accept Google pay. I've been buying wine from this liquor store for years and have seen parents in there with kids as well as have been in there with my own parents and siblings. Today I went for Mother's Day gifts and the cashier refused to sell me wine because my brother was with me and he didn't have his ID. When he explained that everyone needed to be 21, I pointed to the lady next to me who had her son with her. He then very rudely asked "How do I know you're not going to give it to him?" to which I again pointed to the parents and kids in the store. He ignored my question as to why others were allowed to buy but not me. If you're going to have a policy, then follow it with all of your customers. Don't pick and choose who you want to enforce it with. The lady next to me was allowed to make her purchase while I wasn't yet we both had younger people with us. i received a coupon for bud cans 30 pack for$ 20.17 in the mail ,i just went to the store and the witch /manager mary ann said that there was a mis print and the price is $21.19,so i said that she should honor the price that was sent and she wouldn't,this is the 3rd time i have had an issue with this woman about coupons,i normally go to buy-rite but since she was a $1.02 cheaper i went,NEVER again! false advertising i hope the NEW buy-rite that will be opening right down the stree puts them out of business,she is a shyster! read more
